Modelagem numérica de vigas mistas aço-concreto simplesmente apoiadas: ênfase ao estudo da interface laje-viga / Numerical analysis of simple supported steel-concrete composite beam: emphasis on the study of the slab-profile interface

Tatianne Iamin Kotinda 05 May 2006 (has links)
Os resultados obtidos foram comparados com valores experimentais, extraídos de trabalhos apresentados por outros pesquisadores / Widely used in civil engineering frameworks, steel-concrete composite beams appear as consequence of the use of steel beams with concrete slab, providing better management of each constituent material properties. To act as a composite element, it is necessary that the slab and the beam work together, aspect obtained by using metallic elements called shear connectors, that restrict the longitudinal slipping and the uplifting between steel beam and concrete slab. In this sense, this work presents three-dimensional numerical models of steel-concrete composite beams in order to simulate its structural behavior with emphasis, in particular, at the interface between steel beam and concrete slab. The numerical models are constituted of simply supported composite beams with plain faces slab and stud bolt shear connectors. The simulations had been carried out by means of the code ANSYS version 8.0, based on finite elements method. The results had been compared with experimental values, extracted of works presented by others researchers

Cisalhamento entre viga e laje pré-moldadas ligadas mediante nichos preenchidos com concreto de alto desempenho / Shear between precast beam and precast slab joined by pockets filled with high performance concrete

Daniel de Lima Araújo 25 March 2002 (has links)
Composite beams formed by precast beam and precast deck were studied in this work. The connection used in the interface was constituted by steel connectors associated with cast-in-place concrete. Steel bars bent in hoop form constituted the connectors, which were inserted in shear pockets in the precast deck. The connection was carried out filling the shear pockets with high performance concrete. The objective was to characterize the beam-deck connection and to analyze the flexural behavior of the composite beams with precast deck. Push-out tests with monotonic loading were carried out, and it was observed an increase of 250% in the shear strength of the connection due to the substitution of the plane smooth surface for other with shear-key. Based on these tests, an analytic model to represent the behavior of the connections with shear-key was proposed, considering the influence of the strength of the cast-in-place concrete, the diameter of the connector and the addition of steel fibers to the connection. Push-out tests with no reversible cyclic loading were carried out, and it was observed lower shear stiffness degradation in the connection due to the addition of fibers. The results of beam tests showed that the flexural strength of the composite beam is directly related to the shear strength of the interface. The appropriate design of the interface guaranteed to the composite beam with precast deck a flexural behavior similar to the beams with cast-in-place deck. In that way, the system with precast deck is a viable alternative to the system with cast-in-pace deck.

When dealing with metal structures, it was noticed some changes regarding the standards of the involved material due to its lack of availability; such measures do not always follow satisfactory structural procedures. This research aims to develop a comparative study about the technical behavior of mixed steel-concrete from three different types of shear connectors (U, U and L cold formed laminated), analyzing their connectors structural behavior when associated with steel beams (Type I rolled and concrete slab). There were three direct shear tests for each type of connector, resulting in a total of nine pieces, and six trials (simply supported composite beams) to evaluate the positive bending moment region. The results indicated that the direct shear behavior between the types of connectors had important and different outcomes; however, they didn t affect significantly the average resistance of the bending mixed beams. Such beams showed considerable results regarding their deflection and deformation performance due to their connectors stiffness.

Leandro de Amorim Cavalcanti 26 March 2010 (has links)
This study aims to investigate the contribution of the steel bars to the flexure capacity and to promote the composite behavior in partially encased composite beams. The study includes an experimental investigation of partially encased beams under bending in four points and a numerical simulation using the computer package DIANA® to collect data from the behavior of partially encased composite beams with longitudinal reinforcement. Four models of partially encased composite beams were tested and two variables were analyzed: rate of longitudinal reinforcement in concrete and position of stud bolts. The experimental results showed the efficiency of the junction between reinforcing bars and stud bolt to the increase the bending capacity of the partially encased beam and to obtain the steel-concrete interaction. The numerical simulation has good agreement with the experimental results.

Constitutive modeling of thin-walled composite structures using mechanics of structure genome

Ankit Deo (11792615) 19 December 2021 (has links)
Quick and accurate predictions of equivalent properties for thin-walled composite structures are required in the preliminary design process. Existing literature provides analytical solutions to some structures but is limited to particular cases. No unified approach exists to tackle homogenization of thin-walled structures such as beams, plates, or three-dimensional structures using the thin-walled approximation. In this work, a unified approach is proposed to obtain equivalent properties for beams, plates, and three-dimensional structures for thin-walled composite structures using mechanics of structure genome. The adopted homogenization technique interprets the unit cell associated with the composite structures as an assembly of plates, and the overall strain energy density of the unit cell as a summation of the plate strain energies of these individual plates. The variational asymptotic method is then applied to drop all higher-order terms and the remaining energy is minimized with respect to the unknown fluctuating functions. This has been done by discretizing the two-dimensional unit cell into one-dimensional frame elements in a finite element description. This allows the handling of structures with different levels of complexities and internal geometry within a general framework. Comparisons have been made with other works to show the advantages which the proposed model offers over other methods.

[en] In this research, is present a theoretical and experimental study of the prefabricated composite beams system. The structural model consists of composite beams of double T type where the ribs are constituted by an asymmetric I-section cellular beam, partially embedded in the concrete slab. After installation of the beams in the work, it is made a reinforced concrete capping for solidarity assembly. A great advantage of this system is integrate the floor with the building installations system, by passing ducts through the openings of the metal profile. This dissertation presents the system with the general details of construction and design. A parametric analysis was performed to assess the structural behavior in terms of structural efficiency. It is mainly aimed at reducing manufacturing costs and speed of assembly. Based on this study, was developed an experimental program in the Structure and Materials Laboratory at PUC-Rio, to analyze the behavior load / deformation and ultimate flexural strength of prototypes subjected to a static loading. With the obtained data, a comparison is made with the expected results analytically. The experimental results confirmed the estimated strength given by the design recommendations.

HETEROGENEOUS STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS BASED ON MECHANICS OF STRUCTUE GENOME

Rong Chiu (15452933) 11 August 2023 (has links)
<p>The Mechanics of Structural Genome (MSG) is a unified homogenization theory used to find equivalent constitutive models for beam, plate, and solid structures. It has been proven accurate for periodic structures. However, for certain applications such as non-prismatic wind turbine blades and helicopter flexbeams featuring ply drop-off, where there is no repeating structure and the periodic boundary condition cannot be used, MSG's accuracy is limited. In this work, we aim to extend MSG to find element stiffness matrices directly for aperiodic structures, instead of beam properties or three-dimensional (3D) solid material properties. Two finite elements based on MSG have been developed: Heterogeneous Beam Element (HBE) and Heterogeneous Solid Element (HSE).</p> <p><br></p> <p>For beam modeling, the beam-like structure is homogenized into a series of 3-node Heterogeneous Beam Elements (HBE) with 18×18 effective beam element stiffness matrices. These matrices are used as input for one-dimensional (1D) beam analysis using the Abaqus User Element subroutine (UEL). Using the macroscopic beam analysis results as input, we can also perform dehomogenization to predict the stresses and strains in the original structure. We use three examples (a prismatic composite beam, an isotropic homogeneous tapered beam, and a composite tapered beam) to demonstrate the capability of HBE and show its advantages over the MSG cross-sectional analysis approach. HBE can capture macroscopic behavior and detailed stresses due to non-prismatic geometry.</p> <p><br></p> <p>The Heterogeneous Solid Element (HSE) is developed based on MSG to model a heterogeneous body as an equivalent solid element using an effective element stiffness matrix. HSE modeling includes homogenization, macroscopic global analysis, and dehomogenization to recover local strains/stresses. HSE avoids the local periodicity assumption for traditional multiscale modeling techniques for composite structures that compute effective material properties instead. Abaqus composite solid element and MSG-based traditional multiscale modeling are used to validate the accuracy of HSE. All example results show that HSE is more accurate in predicting global structural behavior and local strains/stresses.</p> <p><br></p> <p>HBE and HSE provide a new concept for modeling aperiodic composite structures by modeling structures into equivalent beam or solid elements instead of beam properties of the reference line in 1D beam analysis or material properties of material points in solid structural analysis.</p>

Behaviour of Headed Stud Shear Connectors in Composite Beam.

Lam, Dennis, El-Lobody, E. January 2005 (has links)
In composite beam design, headed stud shear connectors are commonly used to transfer longitudinal shear forces across the steel¿concrete interface. Present knowledge of the load¿slip behavior and the shear capacity of the shear stud in composite beam are limited to data obtained from the experimental push-off tests. For this purpose, an effective numerical model using the finite element method to simulate the push-off test was proposed. The model has been validated against test results and compared with data given in the current Code of Practices, i.e., BS5950, EC4, and AISC. Parametric studies using this model were preformed to investigate variations in concrete strength and shear stud diameter. The finite element model provided a better understanding to the different modes of failure observed during experimental testing and hence shear capacity of headed shear studs in solid concrete slabs
