Previous issue date: 2006-10-04 / The present work is to identify and to analyse the beliefs, conceptios and
abilities of teachers who teach from first to fourth grade of Basic Education
working with arithmetical expressions.
In this study we noticed that, the comprehension of a particular groups of
situation problems called by mixed structures. In these problems, we have additive
and multiplicative structures that happen in the same time. The mathematical
sentence that represents a problem like this, is an arithmetical expression.
This work is based on the theory about conceptual fields of Gerard
Vergnaud linked in ideas of Nóvoa and Ponte. A handle descriptive study was
developed by an alaboration and aplication of an instrumental diagnosis, put in
practice by seventy teachers from four schools that work with basic education in
São Bernardo do Campo.
The instrument was composed by three parts: (1) outline; (2) conception
and (3) ability. The analysis of the obtainned results was realized in agreement
that the way the instrument was prepared.
The results showed that teachers didn t perceive the arithmetical
conception as a mathematical model that represents a situation problem; they
realized it as a calculation set. In relation to ability, we certify that teachers found a
huge problem to make an effort that envolve a doble conceptual field in mixed
structures. It follows that teachers didn t have the necessarily knowledge about
additive and multiplicative structures / O presente trabalho teve por objetivo identificar e analisar as crenças,
Nestes problemas temos Estrutura Aditiva e Estrutura Multiplicativa ocorrendo
concomitantemente.
Quanto a

Previous issue date: 2005-11-25 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The aim of this research was to investigate the insertion of isometries in the
mathematics curriculum, both from an official perspective and in terms of questions
related to practice. To this end, it was divided into two parts. The first part considered
the characteristics of isometries emphasised in official teaching instruments, such as
the National Curriculum Parameters (PCN) and mathematics textbooks. In the PCN, a
rupture was identified between the levels of Middle School and High School. In the
Middle School parametesr, isometric transformations figure highly, while at the High
School level they are not explicity included at all. In relation to the Middle School
textbooks analised, isometries were not incorporated in a uniform manner: one
collection did not consider the topic, while in the other they were comprehensively
covered for all Middle School grades. To analise the activities presented in this second
collection, a classification system based on four level of complexity of the conceptual
field of Symmetry (Vergnaud, 1997) was developed. This enabled the description of a
gradual progression in the appropriation of concepts associated with symmetry. In the
High School textbooks, no continuation of this progression was found, as it was difficult
to locate activities belonging to the conceptual field of symmetry in either of the
collections analised. In the second part of the study, a set of situations was designed
for High School students. The results indicated that although the students, all of whom
studied at night, had never studied symmetry before, they appropriated with success
the idea of axial symmetry as a property of a figure and experienced symmetry as a
relationship between two distinct figures. There were also signs that they could have
considered symmetry as an object with its own properties / O objetivo desta pesquisa foi investigar a inserção das isometrias no currículo
Didáticos do Ensino Fundamental e Médio avaliados pelo Programa Nacional
do Livro Didático/2005.
alunos do Ensino Médio (noturno).

ContribuiÃÃes do campo conceitual multiplicativo para a formaÃÃo inicial de professores de MatemÃtica com suporte das tecnologias digitais / Contributions of the multiplicative conceptual field for the initial formation of Mathematics teachers supported by digital technologiesRodrigo Lacerda Carvalho 31 January 2017 (has links)
In the current study we utilize the potentialities of digital technologies to create favorable conditions in the initial education for teaching the conceptual field of multiplicative structures. This concept derives from the theory of conceptual fields, where Vergnaud (2009) suggests that an individual doesnât learn an isolated concept but rather a field of concepts. This field involves various concepts, including multiplication, division, reasoning, proportion, function, and combination, among others. In this study our focus will be on the knowledge of the function concept. To assist in this comprehension we look to authors such as Ball, Thames, and Phelps (2008) to debate mathematic knowledge for teaching and common and specialized knowledge of content. We also incorporate the work of Mishra and Koehler (2006) for the discussion of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK), which addresses the pedagogical knowledge of content and technology. We define as the central problem of this study the following question: how does the process of the construction of concepts of multiplicative structures and function on the part of future teachers of Mathematics take place in the conceptual and pedagogical domains through the of the use of digital technologies? Therefore, our general objective is to analyze the process of construction of concepts of multiplicative structures and structures of function on the part of future Mathematics teachers in the conceptual and pedagogical domains through the use of digital technologies. In relation to methodology, our object of study brought us to adopt a collaborative approach to our research, since we were not interested only in understanding the nature of the work developed by the future teachers, but equally in the formulation of alternatives in a collaborative formation. This method is divided in three stages, which are co-situation, co-operation, and co-production. The prefix co means joint action. The locus of the study was the Institute of Teacher Education (Instituto de FormaÃÃo de Educadores â IFE) at the Federal University of Cariri (UFCA), more specifically the program of Interdisciplinary Teaching in the Natural Sciences and Math, where we worked as professors in the area of Math Education. The participants of the study were four students from the Interdisciplinary Teaching in Natural Sciences and Mathematics program, denominated as D2, I3, J4, and N5. In the stage of co-situation of the collaborative study we demonstrated the previous knowledge of the students about the multiplicative conceptual field for teaching, we proposed the development of problems involving the concept of functions, and we reflected on teaching practice. In these moments of debate, we found that the participants of the study were in the phase of common knowledge of the content. In the stage of co-operation of the collaborative study, we showed that the future teachers understood the importance of working with digital technologies in the teaching and learning of Mathematics. In other words, they demonstrated advances in the pedagogical knowledge of technology. This knowledge emerged when the future teachers perceived the importance of the technologies in experimentation and in the development of multiple representations. This demonstrates an appropriate relation between technology and specific knowledge. The co-production surpassed the other two stages and was characterized by the production of knowledge.

Digital technologies can help to reveal and mediate reflections about teaching practice and contribute to the continued training of teachers who have conceptual and didactic needs about Mathematics. Thus, the central question of this research is: What contribution does a digital technology supported collaborative training have on learning and teacher practice about multiplicative structures conceptual field? It was defined as general objective: To analyze the contributions of collaborative teacher training supported digital technologies about multiplicative structures. The specific objectives were thus outlined: To chart teachers knowledges about the teaching and learning of multiplicative structures; To identify the ways that teachers interact and use digital technologies for discussion and analysis of Mathematics teaching; and To characterize the construction and reconstruction of mathematical concepts by teachers from the digital technology supported collaborative training experience. The main theoretical references were about elements of collaborative learning and conceptual field of multiplicative structures. The adopted method research was the Collaborative Research, comprising the stages of co-situation, cooperation and coproduction. It was conducted with three teachers-coordinators of the Observatory of Education Project (OBEDUC) in Ceara, identified as PCA, PCN and PCS. The digital technologies supported collaborative training happened in august and november 2015. Virtual preliminary interviews data and OBEDUC Project instruments comprised the Collaborative Research co-situation stage. The co-production stage took place mainly through virtual interactions, through shareholdings and teachers productions in Facebook, Skype and WhatsApp. The developed knowledge and a collaborative production among the participants represent the co-production stage. The teachers had limited repertoire of multiplicative situations, just having problems Simple Proportion, Multiple Proportion and Measures Product with rectangular configuration. All of them demonstrated difficulties with didactic Mathematics and multiplicative structures aspects. With the training first activities, it was identified that the teachers had basic knowledges about the multiplicative conceptual field, with a polarization between PCA and PCN, with PCS between both, regarding knowledge and classification of situations. The concepts construction and reconstruction occurred from interactions developed with digital tools. The discussion, proposition, classification and analysis of situations collaboratively, followed by application with students, registration through videos and images for later posting, sharing and collaborative discussion, significantly boosted reflection of practice with Mathematics. The results show that digital media â images and videos - were relevant for the exposition of participants conceptions about the multiplicative field and student resolution strategies. Noteworthy is the partnership between School and University for the production of new knowledge and training model that favored the conceptual expansion by the participants. The experience mobilized abilities and skills about teaching and learning multiplicative structures. The perception that an accurate treatment of student resolution strategies is indispensable is one of the main gains of training.
