Neuropsychological functioning of conduct disorder impacted by age of onset and comorbid attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder

Kerne, Valerie Van Horn 25 July 2011 (has links)
Conduct Disorder is a disruptive behavior disorder listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition-Text Revision (DSM-IV-TR). Considering the prevalence and severity of Conduct Disorder and the social and economic impact, research is needed to address subtype and comorbidity. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the impact of Conduct Disorder age of onset by comparing neuropsychological functioning between adolescents diagnosed with Conduct Disorder, childhood-onset and adolescents diagnosed with the adolescent onset subtype of Conduct Disorder. In addition, the study will investigate the impact of a comorbid Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) diagnosis. Exploration into the neuropsychological functioning of Conduct Disorder while considering comorbidity with ADHD is needed to clarify cognitive functioning profiles of children and adolescents diagnosed with Conduct Disorder. / text

Caring for their community : study of moral exemplars in transition to adulthood

Matsuba, Michio Kyle 11 1900 (has links)
In response to the overemphasis on cognition in understanding the moral domain, this study attempted to draw attention to the contribution personality can make. To do this, people affiliated with health, social and religious organizations were contacted and asked to nominate young adults whom they considered to be moral exemplars. Forty nominated moral exemplars participated in the study, along with forty comparison individuals who were matched to the exemplar group on age, gender, years of education, and ethnicity. Each person was given a battery of questionnaires, as well as participated in a life narrative interview. It was found that, in contrast to the comparison group, moral exemplars possessed a different personality disposition with these individuals rating themselves higher on the trait dimension of Agreeableness. On development-related measures, moral exemplars were found to be more mature in their thinking as reflected in higher scores on Faith Development and Moral Reasoning. As well, moral exemplars were further along in their identity formation as revealed in lower scores on Identity Diffusion. Within the stories regarding their life's high points, more agentic themes were found in those stories coming from moral exemplars. However, when it came to managing their everyday projects, moral exemplars were more disorganized. These diverse findings are discussed in reference to the contributions they make to the formation of a moral identity in the early adult years.

A survey of undergraduate drug use at Ball State University

McCarty, Judith Ann January 1971 (has links)
The thesis was designed to determine the nature, type, and scope of drug use existing on the Ball State University Campus. An anonymous questionnaire was administered to a ten percent stratified random sample of undergraduate students with a proportional allocation of ten percent from each of the four college years. Results of the survey revealed drug use (use for other than medically prescribed reasons) by 31.5 percent of the sample. Ball State students who used drugs were likely: To be 21 to 22 years of age, to be males, to be juniors, to major in the Science of Humanities, to be divorced, to specify “none” for religious affiliation, to live in off-campus unapproved housing, to have a grade point average of 1.5 to 2.0, to have parents with incomes of $15,000-$20,000, to have begun their use of drugs as college sophomores, to have received their first drugs from friends, to have used, to be currently using, and to anticipate continuing to use the drug, marijuana, and to give curiosity as their main reason for using drugs.

Code of Conduct : Orsaker, säkerhetsställande av leverantörers efterlevnad och konsekvenser

Johansson, Sara, Petersson, Minna, Sandberg, Molly January 2014 (has links)
