Depression, Conduct Problems and Substance Abuse Treatment Outcomes among Adolescents

de Dios, Marcel Alejandro 20 December 2007 (has links)
The purpose of this dissertation study was to investigate the direct and interactive relationships between depression and conduct problems and substance abuse treatment outcomes in a national sample of adolescents participating in substance abuse treatment. This study involved a secondary analysis of data from the National Institute on Drug Abuse's- Drug Abuse Treatment Outcome Study for Adolescence (DATOS-A), a multi-site, longitudinal study of substance abusing adolescents seeking treatment. Participants completed a battery of self-report and interview measures at treatment intake including the Diagnostic Interview Schedule for Children Revised (DISC-R), which assessed depression and conduct problems. Adolescents also completed structured interviews relating to substance use at intake and 12 months after treatment. Results from the multiple regression analyses supported hypotheses relating to greater conduct problems predicting greater post-treatment substance use. Results from the multiple regression analyses failed to support study hypotheses relating to depression and the interaction of conduct problems and depression predicting post-treatment substance use. Significant control variables included age, length of treatment, and intake level of substance use. Results are discussed within the context of the relevant literature.

Praise and Blame: The Rhetorical Impact of Nineteenth-Century Conduct Manuals

Mattson, Jessica Nicole 01 August 2010 (has links)
The following is an exploration of the use of epideictic rhetoric strategies in nineteenth-century conduct manuals, Sarah Stickney Ellis’s The Women of England: Their Social Duties and Domestic Habits, and Harriet Martineau’s Household Education. In examining the rhetoric of the conduct manuals, this researcher has identified the audience, the rhetorical situation, the exigence of that situation, and the use of phronisis, areti, and euonia by both authors. Because the rhetoric of the conduct manual has not been discussed in current critical perspectives, this research is a starting point for further study. The different types of rhetorical strategies used by each author are the focal points used to uncover how epideictic rhetoric can be understood beyond the restrictions of funeral orations and ceremonial speeches. The primary critical research used in this project has been that focused on epideictic rhetoric and the conduct manuals themselves.

In addition, ASE set the cross-function mechanism that communicates and role crossing over department boundary person while organizing, in order to improve the horizontal communication. This suggestion on this industry development is: 1.Key ability is obtained, cultivation, subordinate to a ministry can not be reached shortly. So, short-term interests may not represent and succeed for a long time . 2.Key value of ability come from value of customer, because one urviv grasp customer need new value e in market early than competitor only.
