Zakázané prostředky a způsoby vedení ozbrojených konfliktů / Prohibited means and ways of conducting armed conflicts

Boušková, Klára January 2011 (has links)
Resumé Prohibited means and ways of conducting armed conflicts - conventional weapons The theme of this thesis is "Prohibited means and ways of conducting armed conflicts - conventional weapons". Given that it is a very broad topic, this thesis focuses on restrictions on the use of certain conventional weapons. Conventional weapons are all weapon systems which cannot be included among the weapons of massive destruction. The first part is focuses on the historical development of the law of war - it is one of the oldest international public law at all. The following section discusses its basic principles which are, in fact, the very base of all prohibitions applied. It is the principle of humanity, the principle of military necessity, the principle of prohibition of non- discrimination, the principle of proportionality and the principle of prohibition of causing excessive injuries and unnecessary suffering. The next section deals with the various conventions prohibiting or restricting use of certain conventional weapons, those which were adopted at the turn of the 20th century. Attention is paid to the St. Petersburg Declaration (1868), being the first international document prohibiting the use of one particular type of conventional weapons, and then to some documents adopted at the 1st and the 2nd Hague...

Bouchonneau, Déborah 02 December 2011 (has links)
International energy outlook emphasizes an increasing energy demand over the next decades. Crude oil should represent about 35% of primary energy supply by 2030 according to the IEA. Among supply sources, non conventional crude oil should contribute significantly to the supply of petroleum products, being strategic in terms of reserves and energy independence. This thesis aims to evaluate the development potential of non conventional crude oil using different scenarios regarding the economic and environmental context. Oil sands, essentially located in Canada, constitute our application. The first part of this thesis highlights two development phases: the first one, from 1980 to 2005, corresponding to the emergence of the oil sands sector through regulatory, economic and geographical levers; the second one, started in 2005 with the deterioration of the economic climate, during which oil sands development slowed down significantly. The second part of this thesis focuses on the prospective analysis of the horizon 2050. Firstly, the development of a supply model based on linear programming allowed us to quantify non conventional oil trend supply under deterministic price and environmental regulation scenarios. In particular, investment decision is significantly affected by the establishment of a CO2 tax. Secondly, the development of another supply model based on dynamic programming allowed us to evaluate future non conventional crude oil supply under uncertainties. A negative impact of price uncertainty and volatility on investment decision is highlighted, under or without environmental regulation. This negative impact is strengthened by the introduction of a supplementary uncertainty in environmental legal framework.

Biscioni, Ricardo Pio Barakat. January 2010 (has links)
Diagnóstico do fator RhD utilizando a reação em cadeia da polimerase convencional / Diagnosis of the RhD status using conventional polymerase chain reaction

Coutinho, Conrado Milani 10 October 2008 (has links)
Molecular biology techniques have added some advantages to conventional diagnosis of the Rhesus (Rh) blood group. Many researches have demonstrated the practical superiority of RhD genotyping using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) over phenotypic identification tests obtained by hemagglutination. The use of different kinds of molecular analysis techniques and genetic sequences has been described. The Rh blood group contains two homologous genes, one encoding the D antigen and the other one coding C/c and E/e antigens. This study objectives were: (1) Detect the RhD sequence specific for the Rh positive individuals; (2) Compare the presence/absence of these sequences with the blood group identified by hemagglutination to calculate PCRs sensitivity and specificity rates. To accomplish these objectives, DNA extracted from venous blood of 23 individuals (4 men and 19 women), Rh positive (11) and negative (12), were analyzed using conventional PCR to amplify RhD and RhCE gene sequences. The comparison of PCR with hemagglutination results has shown total agreement. The sensitivity of this PCR method was evaluated using progressive dilutions of Rh positive samples on water and also on Rh negative samples, which demonstrated successful amplification of until 4 pg/l DNA concentration. These results have indicated that PCR was effective for the RhD genotyping, foreseeing the possibility of its utilization with other embryofetal tissues for invasive diagnosis orientation and anti-D immunoglobulin use only in cases of maternal-fetal incompatibility. Also, with an increase of this techniques sensitivity, fewer DNA amounts could be detected, which will certainly be an important step towards noninvasive fetal RhD diagnosis.

Pós-colheita de morangos produzidos no sistema de cultivo orgânico versus sistema convencional em repetidas avaliações / Postharvest of organically versus conventionally grown strawberries in repeated evaluations

Andrade, Carolina Amanda Wippich 09 December 2013 (has links)
Strawberries (Fragaria spp) are very appreciated due to its flavor and tasty, besides are good source of mineral, vitamin C and nutraceutical compounds. However it\'s a fruit very susceptible to pests attack and diseases during the commercial cultivation. In this way, it uses a huge quantity of chemical products for its production. Thus, strawberry is one of the main food in which is found chemicals residues above the allowed limits and residues of not registered products for use in strawberry crop. Many studies are conducted to compare the organic and conventional grown food quality, however the range of results are divergent. The aim of this work was to determine the quality of organic strawberries and the conventional ones using repeated evaluation. To evaluate the strawberries quality, it was harvested fruits from 7 pairs of farms in the region of Sao Paulo State (cities of Atibaia, Jarinú e Monte Alegre do Sul) and also in the South Minas Gerais State (city of Senador Amaral). Each pair of farms was composed by one organic yield farm and one conventional yield farm. The experimental design was completely randomized in a 2 x 5 x 4 factorial (2 modes of farming x 5 storage periods x 4 replications). In the general evaluation, it was observed that only anthocyanin\'s content was higher in conventional strawberries than in organic ones, and decay index was lower in the conventional ones. For the others attributes, there were no differences or organics strawberries had higher values. In some of quality attributes, it was possible to identify that at least 4 between the 7 pairs of farms showed the same behavior of the results obtained from the general evaluation, like: color coordinate a*, soluble solids content, fresh weight loss, density, anthocyanin\'s content and decay index. For color coordinate L*, firmness, dry matter, tritatable acidity and ascorbic acid, the individual analysis of each pair of farms indicated varying behavior. The use of repeated evaluations from different places can be used to determine the quality of organically and conventionally grown strawberries.

The role of the socio-economic environment on medical outcomes after ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

Roth, Christian, Berger, Rudolf, Kuhn, Michael January 2019 (has links) (PDF)
Background: According to the World Health Organization, coronary artery disease (CAD), including ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), is the most common cause of death worldwide as well as in Europe and Austria. There is valid data on the impact of conventional risk factors on the medical outcomes for STEMI patients. However, only few studies examine the role of the socio-economic environment for medical outcomes. The main task of this study is to investigate if the socio-economic environment of patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) after STEMI has an impact on the distribution of risk factors and medical outcomes. Methods: The study focuses on the population of the City of Vienna, Austria, and includes 870 STEMI patients, who underwent PCI at the General Hospital of Vienna (AKH Wien) between 2008 and 2012. The following data were collected: conventional risk factors (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, overweight, smoking, family history and vascular disease) and socio-economic indicators of the patient's residential district (number of residents, income pre-tax, residents per general practitioner, residents per internal specialist, compulsory education only, academic degree and rate of unemployment). Cox regressions were performed to evaluate the impact of socio-economic environment and conventional risk factors on survival. Results: Most of the conventional risk factors show a significant difference between deceased and surviving patients. The study revealed significant differences across districts in relation to the socio-economic background of STEMI patients. Surprisingly, medical outcomes, as measured by the survival of patients, are significantly related to a patient's district of residence ( p -Value = 0.028) but not in a systematic way as far as the socio-economic environment of These districts is concerned. Conclusions: The study provides intuitive evidence for a hitherto understudied Central European context on the link between socio-economic environment and conventional risk factors at population level and the link between conventional risk factors and survival both at the population at the individual level. While this is in line with previous evidence and suggestive of the incorporation of measures of socio-economic status (SES) into policy & guidelines toward the management of CAD, more data on the SES - STEMI nexus are needed at individual level.

This disease comprises a group of heterogeneous hematopoietic disorders of clonal nature that have in common, varying degrees of bone marrow failure and distinct levels of peripheral blood cytopenias and dysplasia in cell differentiation and may provide various forms of cytogenetic changes, sometimes progressing to leukemia. For MDS, can be identified through the changes with the aid of the karyotype, determine prognosis and to classify them into risk groups, which each patient will be subjected to a more individualized treatment. The objective of this study was to evaluate the cytogenetic and correlated the cytogenetic findings found with the clinical data of patientes in an attempt to improve prognostic information in cases of MDS. This study was conducted at NPR Núcleo de Pesquisas Replicon of Universidade Católica de Goiás e LaGene - de Citogenética Humana e Genética Molecular / SuLeide Superintendência Leide das Neves Ferreira, SES-GO in partnership with the Hospital of the Universidade Federal de Goiás and Hospital Araújo Jorge. We evaluated samples of peripheral blood and bone marrow with the aid of conventional cytogenetics, of 25 patients with clinical indication of MDS, with only 15 confirmed cases with MDS were included in this study. The results of cytogenetic tests showed a wide range of chromosomal abnormalities, including trisomy of chromosomes 21 and 22, monosomy of chromosomes 17 and Y translocation between chromosomes 3q, 8q and 10q, 16q and a duplication on chromosome 1. The deletions appeared more frequently, including deletions on chromosomes 7p, 5q 10q, 11q and 12p. We also observed an isochromosome 17, a ring chromosome and a marker chromosome of unknown origin in addition to the normal karyotypes. This diversity of findings is related to genomic instability, and the monosomy and deletions may be related to inactivation of tumor suppressor genes (TSG) and translocations can activate oncogenes, so these changes are related to the ineffective hematopoiesis in MDS. Also associated with prognosis, the clinical course and progression of the disease, and providing information to assist the diagnosis, classification, monitoring, treatment choice and a more adequate understanding to the broad diversity of the disease. This research will be important to stimulate new research in this area and may establish new partnerships between research centers and treatment, primarily to provide a better quality of life for patients with MDS and their families.

Enhancing performance of conventional computer networks employing selected SDN principles

Hasan, Hasanein January 2016 (has links)
This research is related to computer networks. In this thesis, three main issues are addressed which affect the performance of any computer network: congestion, efficient resources utilization and link failure. Those issues are related to each other in many situations. Many approaches have been suggested to deal with those issues as well as many solutions were applied. Despite all the improvements of the technology and the proposed solutions, those issues continue to be a burden on the system’s performance. This effect is related to the increase of the Quality of Service (QoS) requirements in modern networks. The basic idea of this research is evolving the intelligence of a conventional computer network when dealing with those issues by adding some features of the Software Defined Networking (SDN). This adoption upgrades the conventional computer network system to be more dynamic and higher self-organizing when dealing with those issues. This idea is applied on a system represented by a computer network that uses the Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) routing protocol. The first improvement deals with the distribution of Internet Protocol (IP) routed flows. The second improvement deals with tunnel establishment that serves Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) routed flows and the third improvement deals with bandwidth reservation when applying network restoration represented by Fast Re-route (FRR) mechanism to sooth the effect of link failure in OSPF/MPLS routed network. This idea is also applied on another system that uses the Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) to improve the performance of its routing algorithm. Adopting the SDN notion is achieved by adding an intelligent controller to the system and creating a dialog of messages between the controller and the conventional routers. This requires upgrading the routers to respond to the new modified system. Our proposed approaches are presented with simulations of different configurations which produce fine results.

According to a survey carried out during the process of this work, the term "Emblematic subjects" have been used and built since 1996 in discussions at NEPIM (Center of Study and Research of Identity-Metamorphosis) of Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP). To carry out this study, we began, so, with academic productions of NEPIM that have had completed the term "Emblematic subjects" and, as a methodology, we used the history of life contained in the eight academic works that served as a base for short account that are presented here as contextualization and illustration of what is discussed now. This work designed in the syntagma identity-metamorphosis-emancipation proposed by Ciampa (1987) and the arising from productions of NEPIM, and has as a theoric reference Jürgen Habermas and Ciampa, especially the post-conventional subject of Habermas (1983) and the "come to be" and "be to itself" of Ciampa (1987). As we treat it like a theoric work, this dissertation ends with the final considerations broaching synthetically, what has been discussed throughout the work such as exposing inherent gaps to the academic production as possible spaces of appropriation of the Academy / A presente dissertação visa estudar o termo sujeitos emblemáticos como contribuição teórica à Teoria de Identidade em construção sustentada no sintagma identidade-metamorfose-emancipação proposto por Ciampa (1987).
