Marketingové oživení Cool tour linky / Marketing Revival of 'Cool tour linka'

The theme of this master's thesis is "Marketing Revival of 'Cool tour linka'". 'Cool tour linka' is a joint project of Prague's leading exhibition institutions and transport company. Introductory part presents the project with the aim to preserve it "for next generations" too. 'Cool tour linka' was terminated due to economical reasons. Therefore the thesis leads to formation of a new project, that would work under even less favourable conditions. Conclusions from the chapters that analyse the previous 'Cool tour linka' (analysis of the visitors' attendance, application of marketing tools, SWOT analysis) are used in the new project. Both the original and the newly proposed 'Cool tour linka' emphasize the element of cooperation of the organisations operating in the field of culture and the importance of unusual presentation of arts collections to the public.

An examination of the relationship between cool season tornadoes and cloud-to-ground lightning flashes

The southeast United States is prone to severe weather throughout the year. Despite technological advances, some severe weather events occasionally remain unwarned in this part of the country. Past studies examined the relationship between cloud-to-ground (CG) lightning and warm season severe weather episodes. The present study examined the relationship between cool season tornadoes and CG lightning, with a focus over the southeastern United States, where most cool season tornadoes occur. Data from the Storm Prediction Center and National Lightning Detection Network (NLDN) were used to investigate CG lightning properties within 50 km and one hour before tornado touchdown. This was completed over a period of 13 cool seasons from October 1989 through March 2002. Of 3325 tornado events, 2358 contained at least one NLDN-detectable flash. CG lightning attributes of peak current, multiplicity, and flash density compared well with those of prior warm season lightning research. Overall event frequency appeared to be lower than in the warm season. Almost all Central Plains events were accompanied by at least one NLDN-detectable flash. Up to 70% of tornado events near the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic coasts contained no NLDN-detectable lightning. Although it is not known why this trend was observed, it is speculated that NLDN detection efficiency and/or storm structure differences may play a role in these observations. Warm season studies have correlated tornadoes with predominantly positive (>50% positive CG lightning), or PPCG storms. Gridded maps showed the greatest percentage and highest frequency of cool season PPCG storms across Kansas and Nebraska, with up to 70% of events associated with PPCG lightning. A secondary, albeit lower, frequency maximum extended 1° to 2° inland across Louisiana into North Carolina. This study also subjectively defined a storm with “enhanced” positive cloud-to-ground (EPCG) lightning as one containing >25% positive cloud-to-ground lightning, which corresponds to approximately the 75th percentile of all cool season tornadoes. This has lead to speculation that EPCG criterion may be a better indicator of the possibility of severe weather than the traditional PPCG criterion.

An examination of thermodynamic and sheared environments associated with cool-season tornadoes in the southeastern United States

Tornado research conducted across the southeastern United States suggests two peak tornado maxima. However, few studies have distinguished between the thermodynamic and shear environments between cool-season and warm-season tornadoes. Incorporating 100 mb mixed layer parcels, mean thermodynamic and shear parameters for non-significant (F0?F1) and significant (F2?F5) tornado environments were calculated. Cool-season tornado environments were characterized by relatively low amounts of instability and high shear. On the other hand, warm-season tornado events were characterized by higher amounts of instability and generally less shear. The Energy Helicity Index (EHI) remained nearly constant suggesting a balance of instability and shear between the tested seasons. During the cool-season, an increase in instability appears to distinguish between tornado strengths. Yet, an increase in shear during the warm-season may be indicative of significant tornado environments.

Considerando aspectos relacionados ao conforto térmico nas edificações e redução da demanda de energia para resfriamento, a utilização de revestimentos frios (que refletem boa parcela da radiação solar recebida e emitem calor) no envelope construtivo pode ser uma alternativa viável para alcançar estas condições. No entanto, a sua durabilidade é o caminho crítico. O presente estudo tem o objetivo de determinar a durabilidade de revestimento multifuncional que reúne as propriedades: fria e autolimpante. Para alcançar esta meta foi formulado um revestimento cimentício monocamada, com e sem a adição de pigmento, ambos com elevada refletância solar e emissividade iniciais. Para manter a refletância ao longo do tempo foi realizada a aplicação de TiO2 anatásio aos revestimentos de duas formas, na primeira as partículas foram adicionadas à matriz cimentícia, enquanto na segunda foram aplicadas superficialmente como pós-tratamento. A exposição à radiação UV proporciona a fotoativação do anatásio que possui capacidade de oxidação da matéria orgânica e alteração do ângulo de contato entre a água e a superfície, facilitando o arraste das sujidades quando esta é molhada tornando-a autolimpante. A manutenção das propriedades frias e a permanência das partículas de TiO2 sobre a superfície foram avaliadas após 6 e 12 meses de exposição natural em estações localizadas nas cidades de Ubatuba, Pirassununga e São Paulo. Após o envelhecimento observou-se a influência determinante das características dos sítios de exposição no comportamento dos materiais. Dentre as formas de aplicação do anatásio verificou-se uma melhora sutil no desempenho dos revestimentos com adição de TiO2 à matriz cimentícia em relação à aplicação superficial do pós-tratamento. O processo de lixiviação observado em ambos os revestimentos expôs as partículas encapsuladas na argamassa com adição de TiO2, enquanto no pós-tratamento houve a remoção da camada superficial de anatásio. Por esse motivo o revestimento com adição apresentou interação com a radiação UV e material a ser degradado por mais tempo. Surface brightness distributions of late-type stars

The aim of this work has been to increase our understanding of the surface brightness distributions of late-type stars through Doppler imaging and eclipse mapping techniques. Combining spectroscopic and photometric observations with the technique of Doppler Imaging, I have reconstructed surface images of the G2V star He 699 (for 08 October 2000), which show high latitude and polar structures. In the case of the KOV star AB Dor, the Doppler images for January 1992 and November 1993 show a large polar cap with small dark features also present at intermediate to high latitudes. As the phase sampling of the observations was insufficient to apply the sheared-image method it was not possible to detect any differential rotation. In the second part of my thesis I determine the surface brightness distribution of the primary component of the RS CVn eclipsing binary SV Cam. I have used extrapolated size distributions of sunspots to an active star to synthesize images of stellar photospheres with high spot filling factors. The resulting surface images, reconstructed with the Maximum Entropy eclipse mapping technique, show large spurious spot features at the quadrature points. It is concluded that two-spot modelling or chi-squared minimisation techniques are more susceptible to spurious structures being generated by systematic errors, arising from incorrect assumptions about photospheric surface brightness, than simple Fourier analysis of the light-curves. Spectrophotometric data from 9 HST orbits, observed in November 2001, have been used to eclipse-map the primary component of SV Cam. In combination with its HIPPAR- COS parallax it is found that the surface flux in the eclipsed low-latitude region is about 30% lower than computed from the best fitting PHOENIX model atmosphere. This flux deficit can only be accounted for if about a third of the primary's surface is covered with unresolved spots. However, when the spottedness from the eclipsed region is applied to the entire surface of the primary star, there still remains an unaccounted flux deficit. The remaining flux deficit is explained by the presence of a large polar spot extending down to latitude 48+/-6 deg. When the Maximum Entropy eclipse mapping technique is used to fit SV Cam's lightcurve, the observed minus computed residuals show strong spurious peaks at the quadrature points. It is only possible to reduce these peaks with the addition of a polar cap and the reduction of the primary star's temperature, to account for the star being peppered with unresolvable spots. Motivated by this result we investigate the limb darkening of the primary component of SV Cam. The wavelength dependence of the limb darkening is analysed by sub-dividing the HST lightcurve into 10 bands of equal emission flux. Flux variations between the first and fourth contact of the primary eclipse indicate that the limb darkening decreases towards longer wavelengths, in accordance with published limb darkening laws. Comparing fits of ATLAS and PHOENIX model atmospheres we find a wavelength dependence of the best fitting model. Due to its smooth cutoff at the stellar limb, the spherical geometry of the PHOENIX model atmosphere gives the best fit during partial eclipse. Between the second and third contact the difference between spherical and plane-parallel geometry is less important.

Effects of Using Telehealth-Based Behavioral Skills Training to Teach Caregivers to Implement the Cool Versus Not Cool Intervention with Their Children with ASD

This study was conducted to first evaluate the effects caregivers’ fidelity of the Cool Versus Not Cool (CNC) intervention using remote behavioral skills training (BST) and second, to evaluate subsequent treatment effects when caregivers implement intervention with their child with ASD. The components of behavioral skills training used were instruction, modeling, role-playing, and feedback. Past research has not evaluated the effects of the CNC intervention on children with ASD’s social skills when implemented by their caregivers. Thus, this research was needed to evaluate the effectiveness of remote based BST and the effectiveness of caregiver-implemented CNC intervention. Results suggested that remote-based BST is a useful training strategy to train caregivers and to support caregiver-implemented CNC to improve children with ASD’s social skills. During follow up and generalization conditions across dyads, caregiver and child skills maintained. During generalization, caregiver skills maintained when teaching new social skills for Caregiver 1 and Caregiver 2, but not entirely for Caregiver 3. / Applied Behavioral Analysis

ASYMPTOTIC GIANT BRANCH POPULATIONS IN COMPOSITE STELLAR SYSTEMS.

This dissertation presents a technique for the identification and classification of late-type stars and for the estimation of M star metallicities. The technique uses broad-band, V and I, CCD images to identify red stars and two intermediate-band CCD images to classify these as carbon or M types. One of the intermediate passbands is centered on a TiO absorption band at 7750Å and the other is centered on a CN absorption band at 8100Å. Color-color plots of V-I versus the intermediate-band index, 77-81, clearly distinguishes carbon from M stars. Observations of both early- and late-type stars were used to define the 77-81 system based upon the intermediate-band filters. The TiO bandstrength deduced from the 77-81 color as a function of V-I color was investigated for field giants and giants in 12 globular clusters. A linear correlation between [Fe/H] and the V-I color at a given TiO bandstrength was found. This correlation can be used to estimate the metallicity of M giants. The stellar population of a field in Baade's Window was examined using this technique. Many late-M stars and no carbon stars were found. The color-color diagram for Baade's Window suggests a range of metallicities for the M giants of [Fe/H] ≈ -0.4 to > +0.2. The stellar population of the Sagittarius Dwarf Irregular galaxy (Sagdig) was examined using the 77-81 system. A method for estimating reddening based upon the color mode of foreground stars was developed for the analysis of the Sagdig data. Sagdig is estimated to be ~ 1.3 megaparsecs distant. Bright blue and red stars in Sagdig are evidence for recent star formation. Carbon stars were identified in Sagdig. They display a bimodal luminosity and color distribution which suggests distinct epochs of star forming activity between 1 and 10 Gyr ago. The spatial distribution of carbon stars and bright red stars in Sagdig shows this galaxy to be much larger than previously thought.

Completing the Circle: The Actor's Cool Down

Physically, vocally, and physiologically something happens to the actor in rehearsal and performance that can impact the actor’s everyday life. Practitioners have described this as boundary blurring, emotional hangover, and post-dramatic stress. Even acting as a profession can breed stressful situations for the actor. Actors can combat the blurring, the hangover, and the stress through awareness and process. As a part of process, actors warm-up to prepare their bodies and voices and to transition from real life to stage life. An often ignored aspect of process, but no less significant than the warm-up, is the cool down. After researching the acting experience and the cool down, I introduced several student actors to the cool down during two productions and a workshop. Through these practical experiences, this research, and numerous interviews, I have compiled exercises to facilitate the transition between the acting experience and everyday life.
