Layout and configuration tools for visualization softwareJonsson, Daniel January 2014 (has links)
Ericsson is one of the world leaders in radio network technology and are spending a lot of resources on research in this area. This produces big amounts of data and there is a desire for tools that allows the researchers to investigate and present the data in a user friendly way. This is the motivation behind Elsa GVP, Ericsson’s visualization platform, which facilitates the production of interactive visualizations. The platform handles database connections and provides a number of visual components that can be used in an interactive visualization, such as bar charts, scatter plots and maps. Although Elsa GVP certainly makes the production of an interactive visualization speedier it is still a time consuming task and requires expert knowledge. Therefore, there is a desire to make the entire process easier and more user-friendly so that any employee can construct an interactive visualization. This is the motivation behind this master thesis work whose main objective is to investigate how to reduce the amount of work required to produce an interactive visualization by providing an intuitive graphical user interface.

A Look at User Experience A Look at User Experience : Evaluating the Intuitiveness and User- Friendliness of a Public Informational WebsitePersson, Mikaela January 2021 (has links)
In today’s society, using a website is something one does daily. There is an incredibly large amount of websites out there, and every website has a purpose. Previous research states that to fulfill that purpose it is important to consider the user experience of a website. However, there is little research when it comes to the user experience of public informational websites, and what is important to consider when designing one. Therefore, this paper investigates the user experience of a public informational website, Sveriges Radio’s website, with the aim of investigating what factors that affect the intuitiveness and user-friendliness of a website. In addition, factors affecting trust and reliability on a website have also been investigated. Nine participants were recruited to take part in a user test consisting of a cooperative evaluation and a semi-structured interview. The data was then analyzed using affinity diagramming and thematic analysis. The results indicate that factors like structure and layout, word association, and pictures are important to consider when designing an informational website. Having a clear and simple structure influenced both the intuitiveness and user-friendliness of the website in a positive way. It became evident that the existence of headings were important, however, to improve intuitiveness the word chosen as heading needed to be easily associated with the information located under the heading. The inclusion of pictures affected the perceived enjoyment of the site, while also creating irritation when the size of the pictures was perceived as too big. The factors affecting the reliability of the SR website were the amount of information provided, as well as the website’s structure and layout. / I dagens samhälle används hemsidor dagligen.

How to get personas to conform : A case study of design method compatibilityRyman, Anders January 2000 (has links)
<p>This master’s thesis is built around a design case and aims to explore the possibility of combining three methods in the design process: contextual inquiry in the pre-study phase, the creation of personas to guide the design, and cooperative evaluation to test the prototype. The methods were used in a design project proposed by EssNet AB in Stockholm, an international company in the gaming business, for whom a prototype for their touchscreen interface was developed. The contextual inquiry consisted in visits to four different vendors, where the work situation and the current use of computer systems for game registration were studied. The results from the inquiry lay ground for the creation of two personas, one primary and one secondary. These personas then guided the design of both Lo-Fi and Hi-Fi prototypes. The design ideas of the Lo-Fi design phase were evaluated in several discussion sessions and the Hi-Fi prototype was finally tested by six participants, using the cooperative evaluation method. The conclusion drawn from the study is that although the three methods are indeed compatible, there is still a creative leap to make between the data gathered in the contextual inquiry and the creation of the personas. It is also of importance that the participants in the cooperative evaluation match the personas to some degree in order to confirm the personas’ validity.</p>

Evaluation of the Mid-Management Concept of Cooperative Education in a Practical SettingStrader, Jerry D. 05 1900 (has links)
The problem with which this investigation was concerned was that of evaluating the Mid-Management concept of cooperative education at Tarrant County Junior College's South Campus. Evaluative data regarding the various parts of the Mid-Management program were obtained from current students, graduates, and employers, through use of primary source questionnaires and interviews. This study leads to the conclusion that promotional opportunities for students and especially graduates have been enhanced by more than 15 percent and, that a significant number of students and graduates have experienced an improvement in self-image and an increase in self-confidence. It is concluded further, that employers have perceived an increase in their Mid-Management employees' understanding of the manager's job and in their performance on the job, and that employers positively endorse the job-related-project approach of cooperative education. Earnings of both current students and graduates increased substantially after participation in the program; some of these improvements can probably be attributed to the program itself while others were due to inflation, tenure on the job, and other factors.
