Vaz, Jéssica January 2018 (has links)
This dissertation seeks to show how fashion images are used by biopower as a device to docilize female bodies in the control society. Through Giorgio Agamben and his conceptualization of the term device; of Michel Foucault and his writings on the disciplinary society, the concepts of power and biopolitics; Gilles Deleuze with his theory of control society, and Judith Butler (2016), with his theory about compulsory heterosexuality and a performative genre, we will discuss the constant search for disciplining women through patterns of beauty, pre-established gender and socially considered behavior acceptable. / Submitted by Jéssica Gomes Vaz (vaz.jessica@unisul.br) on 2018-09-05T02:24:51Z No. of bitstreams: 2 license_rdf: 811 bytes, checksum: e39d27027a6cc9cb039ad269a5db8e34 (MD5) Dissertação pronta.pdf: 1989733 bytes, checksum: d84c855af52946b1938b2bfb87ceab8f (MD5) / Approved for entry into archive by Josilaine Aparecida Mozer (josilaine.mozer@unisul.br) on 2018-09-06T11:56:25Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 2 license_rdf: 811 bytes, checksum: e39d27027a6cc9cb039ad269a5db8e34 (MD5) Dissertação pronta.pdf: 1989733 bytes, checksum: d84c855af52946b1938b2bfb87ceab8f (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2018-09-06T11:56:25Z (GMT).

Souza, Bárbara Pavei January 2017 (has links)
Body and discourse walk closely in the theoretical field of the Discourse Analysis (DA), because we can comprehend as both subjectivation form (subject’s mean of constitution) and language (in this scope the art-body, for example). For the DA the body surges narrowly related to new formats of the subjectivation and, therefore, associated to the notion of ideology. More than the theoretical object, the body takes part as a dispositive of visualization as a mode of seeing the subject, its circumstances, its historicity and the culture that represent it. It is about of a body that looks at and expose itself to others eyes. Stem from these presuppositions that the feminine plus size body is thought in this dissertation. It is understandable that this body has been marked by different subject-positions as far as the discourses have been heckling and forming these subject-positions of the women, therefore, there is a necessity of nominate the fat bodies and, with that, determine their conditions of existence and visibility. The effects of the media discourses produce this feminine body, always temporary, where the woman turns to be a prisoner of an hegemonic standard of the beauty. Rooted by the theoretical notions of the Discourse Analysis, we analyzed two fashion photographies starred by plus size feminine bodies, being the first an advertising campaign of the brand Valfrance, entitled “Too hot to wear 38” and the second one, the cover of the Magazine ‘Moda Moldes’ special sizes, which has as the protagonist, the singer Preta Gil. / Submitted by Barbara Pavei Souza (barbara.souza5@unisul.br) on 2017-10-03T20:49:18Z No. of bitstreams: 2 license_rdf: 811 bytes, checksum: e39d27027a6cc9cb039ad269a5db8e34 (MD5) DISSERTAÇÃO BÁRBARA PAVEI SOUZA.pdf: 4493006 bytes, checksum: 0bd9c58dd9a0517a83980b3328244ac4 (MD5) / Approved for entry into archive by Karina Ramos Wagner (wagner.karina@unisul.br) on 2017-10-17T19:39:34Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 2 license_rdf: 811 bytes, checksum: e39d27027a6cc9cb039ad269a5db8e34 (MD5) DISSERTAÇÃO BÁRBARA PAVEI SOUZA.pdf: 4493006 bytes, checksum: 0bd9c58dd9a0517a83980b3328244ac4 (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2017-10-17T19:39:34Z (GMT).

The interior of the female body has been over time subjected to images and representations that seek to give meaning to events, even if starting inside the woman's body, generate behaviors and behaviors that respond more to a socio-cultural dynamics, than, properly, biological. Among these events, we pause in more detail in this dissertation about menstruation, as an axis to reflect on how the menstrual experience is permeated by multiple influences of social, cultural, economic, to express themselves in what looks like beliefs and values, making this, a remarkable moment to think about the symbolic dimension that involves the female body and its singularities. In this research, our main goal, to analyze the practices and discourses of menstruation in a group of women belonging to different age groups, seeing the social context in which these women are embedded realizing how these lines are organized within a cultural logic in that the transformation of the female body are marked by feelings and emotions that make this experience one variable relevant to discuss the body as a space of intersection between nature and culture.

\"Delicada e sensível como bonecas de porcellana\": corpo feminino e ciência nos manuais de ginástica feminina e rítmica / \"Delicada e sensível como bonecas de porcellana\": female body and science in the womans and rhythmic gymnastics handbooks

Fernandes, Larissa Corat 25 August 2016 (has links)
The aim of this investigation was to analyze how certain practices and representations of the sciences influenced the conception of the female body in the first Brazilian handbooks of Womens and Rhythmic Gymnastics (an object thus circumscribed by the themes of gender, the female body and history of science). Considered as a cultural element in society, thematising, influencing and being influenced by culture, science can at the same time act upon conceptions of the body and construct it through a prescriptive discourse. Beforehand considered only in comparison to male bodies, the place of female ones can be highlighted within the universe of Womens and Rhythmic Gymnastics, bodily practices originally designed for women. The historical analysis of the first Brazilian handbooks of such practices, dating from the mid-twentieth century, including their contexts and elements of the trajectories of their authors, allowed us to understand the bearing of some visions of science on expectations about the female body and ways of intervening on it. In addition to noting the presence some ideas and contents related to certain sciences, such as notions of evolution and experimentation, here we show how the handbooks are based on a certain vision of science that leads to claims of systematicity, as well as structures their arguments and use of images. In the handbooks, women, their bodies, and the feminine are represented as having a natural essence, one that is nevertheless subject to intervention and care through Womens and Rhythmic Gymnastics

In which, as a participant observer realized that women had often double shift in capoeira, when they brought their children still small, and had to play capoeira. This dynamic fascinated me the way these women articulated to meet the goal of the wheel and cherish the minor children at the same time. Thus, as a matter of research, we intend to investigate: What is the role of women in capoeira groups? Therefore, it was defined as a general objective: to analyze the role of women in capoeira groups from the perspective of gender. In this perspective we were determined as specific objectives: to present a brief history of women in capoeira groups; analyze the female body in capoeira; draw a profile of the capoeirist woman and research the role of women in capoeira groups. As methodology, we used the bibliographic method, exploratory, field research, qualitative, redescriptive with historical analysis; The interview was used as a data collection technique, through a questionnaire structured with 15 open questions. The capoeirists women are stronger than you think, are more agile than you think, so these capoeirists demonstrate skills not only with his feet, but his cunning, seeking affirmation mechanisms in spaces outside, within and beyond the roost in order to (re) define their bodies through this art/fighting and ownership of this space as a well belonging to the female space.

Borba, Carla January 2012 (has links)
Performance and its unfoldings in photographic and videographic languages is the theme of this study, elaborated from the author's creative process, developed between 2010-2012. The relationship between the performing act and the image of the female body permeate the discussion conducted in this research. Through the proposition of the concept of sediment body, the aspects inherent to performatic language are expanded and the image is constituted as memory of experiences lived in different places and temporalities. Thus, the works proposed for reflection in this dissertation involve female body, image, time, and space in a process of accumulation and filing, in which the body records and produces the image from the performance.

ABSTRACT - The imperative presence of the triad thinness/beauty/happiness in the media and the unhealthy discipline, most of the times fatal, that some women impose to their bodies, are a favorable setting to the reflection and theoretical research, mainly when interlaced to the cyberculture studies. The combination of different factors, such as the pressure for the achievement of the thinness and the dissatisfaction with the corporeal appearance, can develop or reinforce eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.
