Framväxten av korrespondensläran : Swedenborgs esoteriska doktrins filosofihistoriska grund

Johansson, Henning January 2008 (has links)

The purpose of this paper is to exam the philosophical development of Emanuel Swedenborg's doctrine of correspondence and to note some of the more important parallels between Swedenborg's doctrine and the three contemporary most debated theories concerning the mind-body problem. These three theories was pre-established harmony, its opponent physical influx and finally occasionalism. Especially occasionalism has close connections to Descartes' dualism, but neither pre-established harmony or physical influxus, which in some ways can be dated before Descartes, would have looked the same, if it were not for the Cartesian way of thinking. Also Swedenborg initially inherited major influences from Descartes and that is the first approach in this paper. From there on the paper follows the development of the doctrine of correspondence and the parallels according Swedenborg's more contemporary philosophical writers, until Swedenborg gets to a point where he underwent a profound spiritual crisis and turned his focus on an all together theological approach.

Segmentation and Analysis of Phonemic Units as Related to Acquisition of the Initial Consonant Phoneme-Grapheme Correspondence

Mathews, Barbara A. 03 1900 (has links)
The ability of students to segment the speech stream into phonemic units and to analyze (make judgments as to same or different) beginning consonant phonemes was assessed at grades kindergarten through third from both high and low socioeconomic groups. Segmentation ability was assessed by the use of a test of actual words in a match-to-sample task, a test of synthetic words requiring a same-different judgment and a task which required deletion of a phoneme from a known word to form a new word. Three prerequisite abilities were also assessed: auditory acuity and understanding of the concepts "same" and "different" with regard to sounds, and "beginning" with regard to sequence of sounds.

Vladimír Holan is one of the most important Czech poets of the 20th century. However, his rich correspondence with plenty of significant people of Czech culture is out of broad the concern of literary scientists. The Holan's correspondence is the main deal of this diploma theses and for its purpose the student will collect, classify and prepare for potential edition a part of poet's correspondence. The selection of correspondence of Vladimír Holan, which is deposited in The Literary archive of The Museum of Czech literature in Prague, will be consisted of approximately ten letter-conversation threads between Vladimír Holan and the significant people of Czech cultural context mainly. The thesis will also include the study in which the student will try to interpret the change of Holan's period poetics by analysis of Holan's statements the convolute of the selected letter will contain.

We obtain the bulk-boundary propagators, as well as the correlation functions on the boundary for a scalar field, both in massive and non-massive cases. If we impose that the fields depends only on a boundary coordinate and the bulk radial coordinate, we obtain in the dual theory the domain wall solutions found in literature. From these solutions we found that the superfluid is characterized by two length scales, one for the order parameter and other for the charge density. We also study the change of charge density in the region near the interface of the defect, and finally we investigate the modifications needed in theory to study the dynamics of these solutions.

This research builds upon this commonplace intending to answer the following questions: What is the role of Tarski's influence in the formulation of the notion of truth in Popper? Which are the consequences? On the first two chapters we will describe at what times of the first edition of the scientific research of Logic Popper debates issues that connect with the notion of truth in an indirect way, being the first chapter the critical part and the second to develop a way to positivist assumptions. The third chapter will deal with Tarski´s semantic notion of truth. We will present what was his goal and to what extent could he realize it. In the fourth and final chapter, we will present the way in which the truth as correspondence with the facts is possible. The scenario for the argumentation is made by Popper's realism. Thus, describing the development of the notion of truth in Popper, we will seek to maintain that his epistemology was corrected and expanded in debate with other thoughts. And the notion of reality depends, strongly, from the theoretical framework.

Les "questions hébraïques" dans la Correspondance de Jérôme de Stridon / The "Hebrew issues" in the correspondence of Jerome Stridon

Biasi, Cécile 10 December 2016 (has links)
Even before settling permanently in Bethlehem, Jerome performs routine visit to Palestine, in his desire to know in depth and direct the holy places where Christ lived. Similarly, its concern to achieve a genuine know the scriptures him to undertake the arduous learning Hebrew. The first letters of his correspondence conserved dating from 380-381, years in which the author begins precisely at Chalcis, his introduction to the language of the Old Testament. The letters then written to reflect the difficulties faced by the father of the Vulgate throughout its review of the common translations of the Bible from Greek and Hebrew moose. The questions posed by cultivated and curious corresponding learn about the content of these moose are also the cause of philological comments from the Stridonien. The letters are therefore an excellent reflection of support for analyzing interactions between source culture and target-culture by interviewing many vocabulary difficulties and interpretation faced Jerome and the commentators cited by him, when it comes to spend Hebrew text to his Greek and Latin versions. This study is interested in Hebrew questions contained in the correspondence. The emphasis in Hebrew, in letters, and even in epistolary form, raises questions about the singular representation of the Hebrew language and the culture that surrounds it, and the image of 'interpres related to this representation. The challenges inherent in the resolution of this issue is important, since they relate both to how the Hebrew Bible is understood and translated by Jerome, the intellectual categories put to use by the letter writer to meet the challenges , the dogmatic consolidation of the fourth-century Church but also to the paradoxical question of the authority of the translator. The scrutiny of Hebrew texts by Jerome raises a major contradiction between the traditional conception of the relationship between barbarians and civilized languages languages, and the idealization of a quest for the Hebraica ueritas, put on the same plane as the trip to Earth Ste. It is therefore understand why and for what a Westerner grown as Jerome embarked on the difficult translation of the Bible from Hebrew. The adoption of such a reflection angle is mobilizing historical, historical-theological and linguistic, since we must consider the relationship between Jews and Christians in the fourth century. To highlight and clarify these issues, this analysis discusses, first, the definition anew intellectual Jerome profile by standing for this, with a view to transmitting knowledge related to the Hebrew Bible . This initial assessment leads to consider, second, how the author of mania Correspondence Hebrew, and putting in a new way, this handling in relation to the structure of letters and literary and rhetorical strategies that are are deployed. Third, we sought to understand what object representation of Hebrew study emerges from the corpus studied and how Jérôme proceeded to transform this representation source of authority for the Christian dogma as for himself - ironically, as a translator. The demonstration involves a central concept to analyze Jerome's methodology, that of ἱστορία. By combining different approaches related to the Hebrew issues, this analysis seeks to demonstrate that the wealth of Jerome's correspondence is far from having been fully covered by research and that some aspects, especially the interdependence philological and ideological perspectives were still fairly extensive.

Aplikace korespondenční analýzy v programu MS Excel / Correspondence analysis application in MS Excel program

Ganajová, Michaela January 2008 (has links)
The aim of the diploma thesis was to create independently an application, automating a correspondence analysis calculation using MS Excel and taking advantage of VBA programming language. The application was then used to analyse Slovak banking sector. The created application is based on macro sets which can be split up to two parts. The first part produces a contingency table and converts it into a format usable in the second part. Then there is executed the Correspondence Analysis calculation itself. Supplement Matrix is being used, that allows to discharge functions from matrix and linear algebra. The application allows to process any matrix dimension. Dialog window offers four normalization types, shortened and also full output and it is possible to display row or column variable categories, eventually both. The analysis subject was to find out which of the products are typical for considered banks and for which clients, divided into age categories, is attractive particular bank and/or product. A starting point is a product usage data matrix at a particular bank. There was made a conclusion, that it is possible to divide banks into more traditional or modern type institutions and also that each bank has a typical product.

Measuring completion rate in distance education

Wong, Charles Kit Hung January 1987 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to create and examine the conceptual and psychometric properties of four components that comprise 'programme outcome' sought by distance educators, and to examine the extent to which student (socio-demographic) and programme (e.g. duration) variables related to them. This ex post facto study utilised the records of 773 correspondence students enrolled at The Chinese University of Hong Kong for the 1984 Summer session and who submitted one or more assignments. Four variables were derived from the data set - completion rate, deviation (lateness in submitting assignments), turnaround (time taken to return marked assignments) and grades. These variables were more conceptually defensible than the NUEA or other formulae typically used to measure 'outcomes'. It was hypothesized that when students had to wait longer for the return of their assignments in the first quarter of the course, completion rate would be lower, but this would not happen after the course was half over. When students were late submitting assignments, it was expected that their completion rate would be lower than those submitting on time. It was found that turnaround had a significant association with completion rate throughout the course. Deviation, that is, delays in submitting assignments, was also related to completion. Each of the four variables had significantly different associations with programme outcome. The measures employed here can be used elsewhere as the data that comprise them are found in the records of most distance education programmes. This should facilitate research in distance education and provide practitioners with a way to monitor programmes. / Education, Faculty of / Educational Studies (EDST), Department of / Graduate
