Specifika kriminálního myšlení u pachatelů trestné činnosti / Specifics of Criminal Thinking in Offenders

Bočanová, Dominika January 2021 (has links)
The thesis deals with the concept of criminal thinking which has attracted attention mainly of foreign forensic psychologists in the last few years, primarily for its proven relation with antisocial behavior and for the possibility of being influenced by changing the antisocial attitudes and because it also seems to be an effective recidivism predictor. The thesis aims to map the specifics of criminal thinking by using PICTS-cz in violent crime offenders and to deepen the understanding of the concept of criminal thinking in our conditions. The goal of the theoretical part is to introduce and broadly outline the area of the entire criminal thinking phenomenon which does not have a uniform definition. For a complex understanding of the issue, attention is paid to definition of the most important concepts related to the topic, its relations with sociodemographic characteristics, characteristics of committed crimes and other psychological phenomena, and also the issue of violent crime is introduced. Research survey is implemented in 138 convicted violent crime offenders. The results present their specific characteristics of criminal thinking which are then compared mainly with foreign samples for a demonstration of their most significant differences. Attention is also paid to the specifics of criminal...

Investigation of device related material properties of β-Ga2O3 bulk crystals and homoepitaxial layers

Seyidov, Palvan 14 February 2024 (has links)
The core scientific question of this thesis is the evaluation of device-related (100) β-Ga2O3 Czochralski (Cz) grown bulk crystals and metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE)-grown homoepitaxial layers. Electrical and optical characterization methods were applied to characterize the crystals. The findings of the investigations can be summarized as follows: The growth of the bulk crystals is preferentially performed by the Cz method at temperatures around 1800°C. At such a high temperature, the unintentional incorporation of impurities into the crystal is inevitable, especially transition metal iridium (Ir) from the Ir crucibles. In this respect, the observation of resonant electronic Raman scattering (ERS) originating from Ir4+ ions in bulk β-Ga2O3 grown by the Cz method was studied. The observed ERS peak at 5150 cm-1 is attributed to an internal transition within the split 2T2g ground state of Ir4+ ions. The optical and electrical properties of the 3d-TM Co and Ni in bulk β-Ga2O3 were experimentally and theoretically investigated. Optical absorption spectroscopy, photoconductivity measurements, and charge-state transition-level calculations based on density functional theory were combined. A (+/0) donor level ~ 0.7 eV, ~ 1.3 eV above the valence band maximum, and a (0/–) acceptor level ~ 2 eV, ~ 2.8 eV below the conduction band minimum are consistently derived for Co- and Ni- doped crystals, respectively. Based on the mid-band gap position of the acceptor level and the resulting higher extrapolated resistivity at room temperature, we propose Co and Ni are suitable candidates for compensation doping of semi-insulating β-Ga2O3 bulk crystal.

The neural correlates of intentional control

Wisniewski, David 18 May 2016 (has links)
Freely choosing one’s own course of action is a fundamental aspect of human behavior. Yet, despite its importance, there remain many open questions about the neural basis underlying intentional control of action. On the one hand, the functional organization of the fronto-parietal brain network associated with intentional control remains a debated topic. On the other hand, motivational processes evidently affect intentional control, as we often choose actions which promise desirable outcomes. Despite this, previous research largely treated intentional and motivational control as two independent functions. This thesis aims at shedding light on the neural basis of intentional control, focusing on the effects of two motivational variables on intentional control processes (effort, monetary rewards), as well as the functional organization of the intentional control network. Experiment 1 investigated the effect of motivational processes on voluntary behavior and its neural basis. Experiment 2 assessed which brain regions associate behaviors with their outcomes, an important piece of information for choosing actions which lead the most desirable outcomes. Experiment 3 directly contrasted the representations of freely chosen and externally cued intentions, in this way investigating the functional organization of the intentional control network. Overall, results from those three experiments highlight the role of the dorsal anterior cingulate, dorso-medial prefrontal, and parietal cortex in mediating motivational effects on intentional control. They further suggest that the fronto-parietal intentional control network likely has a role in both controlling behavior that is freely chosen and externally cued. These results inform debates on the neural basis of intentional control and extend some recent theories of motivational and intentional control functions. They provide a promising starting point for a systematic investigation of the neural basis of intentional control.

Porovnání vakcinačních strategií a schémat v zemích EU a v ČR / Comparison of vaccination strategies and schemes in the European union and in the Czech Republic

VLČKOVÁ, Iva January 2013 (has links)
Vaccination is one of the most important preventive epidemiological measures. My thesis focuses on comparing vaccination strategies of the EU countries with those of the Czech Republic. When collecting information, I studied the present situation of all twenty seven EU countries, including WHO recommendations on immunization, and suggestions of both ECDC and vaccine producers. Available incidence data about particular preventable diseases and vaccination coverage are also mentioned. Furthermore, I also point out the effectiveness of vaccination, illustrating the fact on the occurrence of specific illnesses. This is especially apparent from Czech vaccination schedule for measles, which, owing to taken measures, occur only as an imported malady. Vaccination schedules vary considerably among the EU countries. The Czech Republic follows same schedules as most of the EU countries and has a well-developed vaccination system, established in Notice no. 537/2006 Sb. of vaccination against infectious diseases, as amended. The number of illnesses, vaccination against which is prescribed, almost doesn?t differ from other European countries, and neither does the sickness rate. Quite to the contrary; compared to certain EU states, vaccination coverage in the Czech Republic is steadily high and recommendations to update vaccination schedules arise only from new findings and freshly emerged epidemiological situation. New vaccines against infectious diseases are being introduced to the market each year and individual countries therefore often reappraise, adjust and update their vaccination schedules. It?s imperative that they take into consideration present epidemiological situation, both in the countries themselves and in surrounding states, and also the knowledge of trends in infectious diseases occurrence. It?s necessary to update vaccination schedules and to increase the number of vaccines ? be it within periodic vaccinations covered by state, or personally requested vaccinations compensated by insurance companies ?, thus improving vaccination coverage. 5 Attempts at unification are unrealistic. In view of various epidemiological situations, means of individual countries, and attitudes towards vaccination in certain liberal leaning states, it is not possible to dictate vaccine use or vaccination schedules to any country. Considering the scope of the issue, the aim of my thesis isn?t to suggest solutions, but rather to monitor the present circumstances in individual states, find sources of information, and compare the situation in the EU and Czech Republic.
