Att skapa en användarcentrerad återkopplingsrapport : En designprocess kring data / The Creation of a User-Centered Feedback Report : A Design Process about DataAlbrektson, Maja January 2019 (has links)

Visualisering av produktionsnyckeltal : Utvecklande och utvärdering av en digital instrumentbräda / Visualization of production key figures : Development and evaluation of a digital dashboardOlsson, David, Viebke, Marcus January 2019 (has links)
Companies today produce large amounts of data. To interpret data, a tool is needed which visualises it effectively and instantly. One such tool is the digital dashboard. Despite the high value of well-developed dashboards, most dashboards fail to communicate clearly. Instead, resources are spent on visual effects, which makes communication more difficult than improves it. The study has resulted in a web-based tool that creates a dashboard. The webpage consist of a menu, a grid and different components. This study has focused on two of those, gauge and pie chart. The dashboard visualizes data using graphical components. The study has taken note of design guidelines to avoid common design flaws in the development of the web-based tool. The design has a general solution since the end user is undefined. The result contains an evaluation of how well the design guidelines have been implemented. The tool has a low multidimensionality as only two graphic components are available. Accessibility is high because the tool is web-based. Good responsiveness is achieved using the Flexbox technology. SPA creates low loading times of the web page. There are great opportunities with continuing work for the application. Chapter 5 also goes through a complete user flow. How data is presented and in which context it is set is crucial for a well-developed dashboard. It is critical to involve end users in the development process of new software. Without endusers, it is difficult to evaluate the user-friendliness of newly created software.

Previous issue date: 2011-05-26 / The reflection on the theme development, along with pressure from society in nature, led the growth in awareness of the environmental problems caused by incompatible standards of living through the process of regeneration of the environment. With that sustainable development has become the main choice for today's socioeconomic development. The finding of fact made researchers were in search of a development model that can guarantee the quality of life of present generations without compromising the ability of future generations to survive and develop. Several tools have been developed in recent years with the aim of measuring the sustainability of economic and social systems. In an attempt to improve knowledge of sustainability indicators in this study evaluated three of the tools most widely used and recognized in the context of sustainability: the Ecological Footprint, the Dashboard of Sustainability, and the Barometer of Sustainability. The three tools were evaluated in order to identify the main elements of these indicators and their theoretical basis. The ultimate goal is to write a comparative analysis and improve understanding of sustainability indicators mentioned so that you can use these tools more clearly and consciously / A reflexão sobre o tema desenvolvimento, juntamente com a pressão exercida pela sociedade na natureza, levou o crescimento da consciência sobre os problemas ambientais gerados por padrões de vida incompatíveis com o processo de regeneração do meio ambiente.

Enhancing User Interaction with Business Intelligence DashboardsElias, Micheline 11 October 2012 (has links) (PDF)
The goal of this thesis is to improve visualization dashboards in order to help decision making and Business Intelligence (BI) analysis, and make them accessible to a larger user audience. We identify current trends and use practices of visualization dashboards in the BI domain, and following a user-cantered design approach we provide enhancements and solutions. More specifically we address the following challenges: making dashboard construction and use accessible to visualization novices, enhancing dashboards with advanced annotation capabilities to help BI analysts in the analysis process, and add storytelling functionality to dashboards to help the communication between analysts and decision makers. Our user-centered approach consists of gathering user requirements (through background search, in-depth interviews or prototyping sessions with BI experts), iterative prototype development, and evaluation of our prototypes with representative users. First, our work reports gathered insights regarding novice user practices on Exploration Views (EV), a system that allows novice visualization users to easily build and customize BI information dashboards, but also provides functionality needed by experts. We evaluated EV with both expert and novice visualization users, and found differences in how experts and novice users interact with the interface. Based on those observations we provide new guidelines that augment previous work on designing for visualization novices, in the context of interactive visualization systems in the form of dashboards. BI analysts using dashboards (experts or novices) need support in record-keeping of their analysis, their data discoveries and gathered insights. This support is lacking in most dashboard visualization systems. We conducted in-depth interviews with BI experts that led to new annotation needs for multi-chart visualization systems (such as dashboards), on which we based the design of a dashboard prototype that supports data and context aware annotations, shared across visualizations and datasets. We focused particularly on novel annotation aspects, such as multi-target annotations, annotation transparency across charts, and annotations that can be shared among different data-sources and BI applications. We identified and provided solutions to challenges in using context aware annotations, notably issues arising when the annotation's "context" changes (e.g. annotated data are deleted or changed). Our prototype was evaluated with BI experts that were able to easily perform several tasks that they deemed important in their work. To increase the value of an analysis, recorded insights and knowledge need to be organized and communicated to others, and made available for future analysts to learn from. This communication step is very important, as often the analyst of data and the decision maker are two different people. To achieve this we need an easy insight organization and sharing mechanism to facilitate the transfer of knowledge, experiences, and stories, to decision makers and other analysts. We interviewed BI analysis experts and collected new requirements related to BI visual storytelling. Based on these requirements we designed and implemented a storytelling prototype that is integrated in a dashboard analysis tool, and allows easy transition from analysis to story creation and sharing. Our system was identified by experts as having great potential for training other analysts. Moreover, it can help BI analysis authors organize and communicate their findings faster to decision makers, and they can reach a broader audience since the results of a data analysis presented in the storytelling tool can be read with little to no training.

Compost Bedded Pack Barns: Management Practices and Economic ImplicationsBlack, Randi Alyson 01 January 2013 (has links)
Compost bedded pack (CBP) barn design and pack maintenance procedures vary considerably, making advising and problem-solving challenging. One objective of this research was to characterize herd performance and management practices employed by Kentucky CBP managers (42 farms and 47 CBP facilities). Producer satisfaction, changes in historical bulk-tank somatic cell count, and improvement in herd performance parameters after transitioning to a CBP barn support reported CBP barn system benefits. Daily milk production increased from before moving into the CBP barn to the second year after (29.3 ± 0.3 vs. 30.7 ± 0.3 kg, respectively; P < 0.05) for farms using the CBP barn as the primary housing facility (n = 8). Increasing stirring frequency, stirring depth, and ambient temperatures increased pack temperature. Increased drying rate decreased CBP moisture. Increased 20.3 cm depth CBP temperature and ambient temperatures improved cow hygiene. Mastitis-causing bacteria thrive in conditions similar to optimal composting bacteria conditions, making reduction of these bacteria difficult in an active composting environment. Producers must pay attention to other management areas where preventive measures can be employed. The New Dairy Housing Investment Analysis Dashboard provides users an interactive and flexible decision tool to make more informed facility investment decisions.

Internal DashboardWagnberg, Michael, Danielsson, Peter January 2018 (has links)
This project is about creating a Dashboard with suitable data models containing support ticket statistics for the company Sigma IT Consulting. The work flow used by Sigma today is to manually log in to the system to see the support ticket statistics, which can be a tedious and time consuming process. Furthermore, Sigma do not have any monitoring system for checking the health of their web application services. They have a need for an internal Dashboard containing this information with regularly updates. Our solution is to design suitable data models and implement them within a Dashboard application.

The issue of performance measurement has been each time more discussed by the academic community and professionals of every area. The large amount of publications about this issue indicates the existence of problems in this field of research and its importance for business management. In Brazil, civil construction enterprises have also demonstrated an increasing interest in improving their performance measurement systems. However, the characteristics of this field make the process of a measurement system development a relatively complex task. It may be seen the need of improvement in the use of the information gotten from these measures for decision making, through the analysis and obtainment of the maximum potential of data. In this sense, dashboard gives the possibility of monitoring the main performance indicators through an only interface. Therefore, this research proposes a set of guidelines for the conception and assessment of dashboards aiming the improvement of performance measurement systems for production management in civil construction industry. The research strategy adopted in this paper was action-research. It was divided in two phases: preparatory and main phase. In the first one, an exploratory study and a diagnostic step were accomplished in construction companies, aiming to broaden the author’s knowledge about the issue, allowing the refinement of the research. Still in the preparatory phase, it was accomplished a study about dashboard in a company outside civil construction sector, with the aim of analyzing a well succeeded case using dashboards. In the main phase, parallel studies were accomplished in the two civil construction companies analyzed during diagnosis. The main contributions of this research are related to: (a) establish criteria to assess the effectiveness of dashboards; (b) propose mechanisms for entailing different management levels involved in the analysis of such dashboards; and (c) propose guidelines for implementing dashboards.
