This thesis aims at designing a solution to the comprehensive use of construction underlying documents for the CNC programming of turbine casings. The introductory part of the thesis contains a description of the CNC programming and CAD/CAM systems. The following is mapping of the current state of the construction underlying documents, and mapping of the situation in the department of technology in Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery, s.r.o., Brno. The further section presents an analysis of the problem that arose when processing and sharing the construction underlying documents with the aim of streamlining the CNC programming process. The closing part presents the evaluation and conclusions for implementation of the proposed solutions.

Phylogenetics of North American Psoraleeae (Leguminosae): Rates and Dates in a Recent, Rapid Radiation

The scientific discipline of phylogenetics involves understanding the diversity of life in the context of history. Technological advances in molecular biology and computational power have created an exponential increase in the number and kind of phylogenetic studies, allowing exploration of all manner of questions concerning the evolutionary history of a group. This dissertation research is focused on phylogenetic theory and applying these methods to the plant tribe Psoraleeae (Leguminosae; Fabaceae) with an emphasis on North American (NAm) members. First, theory of phylogeny estimation is explored in a review chapter focusing on strengths and weaknesses of phylogenetic methodology. Second, methods are applied to estimating evolutionary relationships within Psoraleeae based on six chloroplast (trnD/T, trnL/F, trnS/G, trnK, matK, and rpoB-trnC) and two nuclear (ITS and waxy) DNA regions. This study explores approaches for coding insertion-deletion events (gaps) as phylogenetic characters using maximum parsimony and Bayesian Inference. Inclusion of gaps generally increased topological resolution and nodal support, attesting to their phylogenetic utility. Findings suggest inclusion of gaps to be especially useful in chloroplast-based studies as they represent a greater proportion of phylogenetic signal as compared to nuclear regions. Past Psoraleeae classification schemes were tested and taxonomic revisions suggested. Furthermore, phylogenetic comparative methods are used to investigate correlation between geography and narrow endemism in NAm Psoraleeae. Geographic variables of latitude, longitude, and elevation all correlate with range size and provide support for Rapoport's rule of species-richness following latitudinal gradients. Finally, estimated phylogenies are used to investigate divergence dates, nucleotide substitution rates, diversification rates, and the impact of climate change, past and present, on diversification of NAm Psoraleeae. Results suggest the group has undergone a recent, rapid radiation. Rates of molecular evolution are fast, relative to other Legume lineages. Topological and temporal methods confirm the existence of diversification rate shifts in NAm Psoraleeae. Quaternary climate oscillations are shown to have significantly impacted diversification in the group while current shifts from mesic to xeric climate regimes did not.

Evaluation of agronomic performance and weed control in soybean grown with different row configurations, planting dates, and soil textures

Planting date, seeding rate, soil texture, and row configuration are important factors in soybean production. Each of these factors can impact overall production and yield of soybean immensely. Growers can have difficulty making decisions about how to best manage their production systems with these factors in mind. Therefore, research was conducted from 2019 to 2021 at the Delta Research and Extension Center in Stoneville, MS, to evaluate the agronomic performance, yield components, and weed control of soybean planted with different planting dates, row configurations, soil textures and/or seeding rates. Common row configurations utilized in Mississippi soybean production were compared to a triple-row configuration on raised beds. First planting dates occurred from late-April to early-May and second planting dates followed three weeks later. Each row configuration was planted at 320,000 seed ha-1 for agronomic studies. Seeding Rate Study was initiated where triple-row configuration plots were planted at 320,000, 445,000, and 553,000 seed ha-1. Total dry matter (TDM) was determined by removing a m-2 in each plot at soybean growth stage R6.5 and allowing samples to dry down and weigh them. Harvest index was determined by collecting seed from TDM samples and weighing them. Pod node-1, seed number, and node plant-1 were determined by collecting five random plants from each plot and counting the total number of pods, seed, and nodes. Soybean planted on silt loam at the first planting produced lower seed weight, seed number, and harvest index than soybean on clay soil at either planting date. Two row configurations, single- and triple-row, were planted on raised beds for weed control studies. Programs included PRE only, EPOST, LPOST, PRE fb EPOST, PRE fb LPOST, and PRE fb EPOST fb LPOST. Herbicide timings included 7, 14, 21, and 28 DA-crop emergence and each timing was followed by a sequential application 14 d after the initial application. Triple-row configuration had lower plant densities and produced lower yield than single- and twin-row configurations. Triple-row configuration soybean planted on clay soil and at 445,000 and 553,000 seed ha-1 produced greater yield than any other seeding rate or soil texture.

No / In this paper, we illustrate the ways in which Bayesian statistical techniques may be used to enhance chronological resolution when applied to a series of OSL sediment dates. Such application can achieve an optimal chronological model by incorporating stratigraphic and age information. The application to luminescence data is not straightforward owing to the sources of uncertainty in each date, and here we present one solution to overcoming these difficulties, and introduce the concept of "unshared systematic" errors. Using OSL sediment dates from the site of Old Scatness Broch, Shetland Isles, UK, many measured with a high degree of precision, we illustrate some of the ways in which Bayesian techniques may be applied, as a tool for assessing systematic errors when combined with independent chronological information, and to determine the optimum chronological information for specific events and contexts. We provide a detailed procedure for the application of Bayesian methods to OSL dates using the widely available radiocarbon calibration programme OxCal.

Membrane sweeping at term to promote spontaneous labour and reduce the likelihood of a formal induction of labour for postmaturity: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Yes / The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and the safety of membrane sweeping in promoting spontaneous labour and reducing a formal induction of labour for postmaturity. Based on articles published between 2005 and 2016, 12 electronic databases were searched. Relative risk (RR) and its 95% confidence interval (CI) were used as pooled statistics. A total of seven studies consisting of 2252 participants were selected for the review and meta-analysis. The results revealed that membrane sweeping is advantageous in promoting spontaneous labour (RR = 1.205, 95% CI: 1.133–1.282, p = <.001), and reducing the formal induction of labour for postmaturity (RR = 0.523, 95% CI: 0.409–0.669, p = <.001). The studies reported several varying outcomes for both maternal and foetal morbidities; meta-analyses were performed where possible on each of these and found there to be no statistically significant differences in outcome between the intervention and control groups.
