Courcy, Genevieve 02 1900 (has links)
This work is divided in two parts. The first one, theoretical, studies music as the subject in the narrative, western and contemporary cinema, i.e., from the 1960s until today. The second part is a fictional movie of thirty minutes titled A Capella. The scenario is included here in appendix. SYNOPSIS: Born with a vocal handicap, Hubert developed as time goes by a new technique of rehabilitation: the physiophony. Sophie, a young wounded dancer, tries this new method... This document, consisting in the theoretical part, first summarizes the reflections of Michel Chion and Claudia Gorbman on the subject. Then it presents the first draft of a typology on the subject organized around four categories: the musician, the music group, the place of music and the materialization of music. This last category echoes well the practical part of this project and, as such, it will be developed furthermore in the third section. The interest of this work lies mainly in the bridges between theory and practice it creates, which will be treated in the fourth section. The materialization of the music is analyzed from the voice of the main character, the movements of the dancer as well as the technique of rehabilitation, the physiophony. The challenges faced while screenwriting, directing the movie and composing the music will also be explained.

Förkroppsligad fiktion och fiktionaliserade kroppar : Levande rollspel i Östersjöregionen / Embodied Fiction and Fictionalised Bodies : Live Action Role-playing in the Baltic Sea Region

Lundell, Erika January 2014 (has links)
This dissertation concerns live action role-playing (larp). Larp may be described as improvised theater without an audience, as participants simultaneously embody both audience and actor in their constant interaction with one another.  Hence, larp can be seen as a participatory culture.  The study is based on participant observation, interviews and online ethnography in Denmark, Latvia, Sweden and Norway. The aim of the thesis is to analyze how bodies materialize, take and are given space in larps. At the heart of the study lie questions on how processes of embodiment are enacted before, during and after the game. Two central concepts - larp chronotope and matrix of interpretation – shape the analysis. The first denotes the specific timespace in which a larp takes place, e.g a Soviet military camp or a fantasy world. The second concept stands for a general matrix of norms that informs participants on how to enact their characters in the larp chronotope. The thesis shows that participants strive to act in ways that are intelligible according to the matrix of interpretation that reigns during the game days. In addition, although game and everyday matrixes of interpretations are always inseparable, while attending a larp the participant’s ordinary lives are temporarily allowed to fade into the background. Thus, larps are complex combinations of objects, spaces and bodies that are given new relations and new meanings. Furthermore, the thesis shows that larp embodiment is conditioned by normative ideas of what it means to be an intelligible live action role player. White male bodies are more likely to access the sphere of larp intelligibility than others, which is evident in many of the stories and made up worlds portrayed in the study. Yet, the collaborative narration of game worlds that take place before larps can include all sorts of bodies. Consequently, larps provide an opportunity for alternative forms of embodiment and experiences.

Data management in forecasting systems : optimization and maintenance

Feng, Haitang 17 October 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Forecasting systems are usually based on data warehouses for data strorage, and OLAP tools for historical and predictive data visualization. Aggregated predictive data could be modified. Hence, the research issue can be described as the propagation of an aggregate-based modification in hirarchies and dimensions in a data warehouse enironment. Ther exists a great number of research works on related view maintenance problems. However, to our knowledge, the impact of interactive aggregate modifications on raw data was not investigated. This CIFRE thesis is supported by ANRT and the company Anticipeo. The application of Anticipeo is a sales forecasting system that predicts future sales in order to draw appropriate business strategy in advance. By the beginning of the thesis, the customers of Anticipeo were satisfied the precision of the prediction results, but not with the response time. The work of this thesis can be generalized into two parts. The first part consists in au audit on the existing application. We proposed a methodology relying on different technical solutions. It concerns the propagation of an aggregate-based modification in a data warehouse. the second part of our work consists in the proposition of a newx allgorithms (PAM - Propagation of Aggregated-baseed Modification) with an extended version (PAM II) to efficiently propagate in aggregate-based modification. The algorithms identify and update the exact sets of source data anf other aggregated impacted by the aggregated modification. The optimized PAM II version archieves better performance compared to PAM when the use of additional semantics (e.g. dependencies) is possible. The experiments on real data of Anticipeo proved that the PAM algorithm and its extension bring better perfiormance when a backward propagation.

A materialização do real nas obras literárias e fílmicas S. Bernardo, Vidas Secas e Memórias do Cárcere / The reality materialization on the literary and filmic works S. Bernardo, Vidas Secas e Memórias do Cárcere

Bernardo (1934), Vidas Secas (1938) and Memórias do Cárcere (1953), by Graciliano Ramos, as well as the filmic translations of these to the cinema by Leon Hirszman São Bernardo in 1972 and Nelson Pereira dos Santos Vidas Secas in 1963 and Memórias do Cárcere in 1984. It has been intended to comprehend how images of reality were turned into literary and filmic narratives on these works considering the Critic Realism context, and it was done by analyzing compositional aspects of literary structure: narrator, plot, characters, time and space, and the filmic image production aspects which were part of the work of the directing, art and photography staff at the filming stage. Therefore, studies of André Bazin, Antonio Candido, Frances Yates, Georg Lukács, Glauber Rocha, Mikhail Bakhtin and Terry Eagleton articulated the analysis of the relationship between Text and Context form and content for the materiality composition in such works. These analyses also provided a reflection about the intrinsic relation of the tripod author-text-reader poesies, aesthesis and catharsis considering that at the moment the reader/spectator meet these narratives the content is supreme over the form. Having in mind that contemporary art when it appropriates historical times evocates the past and illuminates the present, and also that in art there is no such thing as a pure reality, once in fiction everything is imitation, accordingly to Aristotle‟s reflections about mimesis, it is conceived that Graciliano Ramos when writing his novels appropriated social facts from his own experiences and social context and turned them into literary contents that were the structure for his literary writing which were translated to the filmic language by the movie makers Leon Hirszman and Nelson Pereira dos Santos. Last but not least, it is considered that these novels and movies are firstly fiction works and the materialization of content Critic Realism passes necessarily by the artificiality of artistic composition, nevertheless, they are conceived by their creators as instruments of denunciation, consciousness and transformation of the Brazilian reality / Nesta pesquisa, de caráter analítico e bibliográfico, objetiva-se o estudo da materialização do real nos romances S. Bernardo (1934), Vidas Secas (1938) e Memórias do Cárcere (1953), de Graciliano Ramos, bem como nas traduções destes romances ao cinema por Leon Hirszman São Bernardo, em 1972 e Nelson Pereira dos Santos Vidas Secas, em 1963 e Memórias do Cárcere, em 1984.

Commercialization Challenges in Green Tech

Gripenlöf Karlberg, Gustaf, Henningsson, Gustav January 2022 (has links)
In recent years, pressures for making society more sustainable have been on a constant increase, and many of the new green technology solutions which will facilitate this change are likely to originate from small high-tech firms. However, young technology-based firms often fail to successfully bring their products to the market – a process known as commercialization. The purpose of this study was to from a managerial perspective contribute to narrowing the gap between practice and academia in the largely unexplored area of commercializing green tech. A qualitative study using an abductive research approach was conducted based on semi-structured interviews carried out at five Swedish green tech companies, followed by an analysis based on grounded theory. From this, four main challenges of green tech commercialization in Sweden were identified, including the reliance of green tech firms on external actors, challenges related to attracting employees and partners, the risk of green tech markets not materializing, and difficulties related to securing financing. Additionally, four underlying themes connected to these challenges were discussed, including issues related to the apparent interrelatedness of green tech markets, the importance of policy support to green tech viability, the importance of investor support, and issues related to gaining trust.

Visiting literary works beyond words : from writers' houses to theme parks, the impossible challenge of making literature visible.

Delassus, Justine 12 September 2016 (has links)
Often classified as an immaterial art, literature however offers real and visible tracks of its existence as evidenced by writers’ houses, museums and literary exhibitions spreading all over France. The increasing number of theme parks and the development of literary theme parks offer new interesting perspectives. In a multidisciplinary approach involving cultural history, sociology of literary practices and literary theories, the aim of this research work is to question the representations of literature conveyed by these literary spaces. This reflection results from the following paradox: what can be shown to evoke an art of words, only accessible in the act of reading?

EXPRESSÕES DO PODER LOCAL NA MATERIALIZAÇÃO DAS CONFERÊNCIAS MUNICIPAIS DE SAÚDE DE PONTA GROSSA – 2009 E 2011

Miranda, Pedro Fauth Manhães 05 May 2014 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2017-07-21T14:43:13Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Pedro Fauth Miranda.pdf: 2505810 bytes, checksum: 03eb5ec30e4c17091e373cf0898ceed6 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-05-05 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The Local Power is a concept that includes the power relations established at a localized level, in order to consider the citizens that compose them, whether they stemmed from Civil Society or Politic Society, interested in the benefits that the influence of this Local Power can generate. The materialization process, in Municipal Health Secretary (MHS)’s plans, of the strategic actions presents in the final reports of the Health Conferences, is an indicative of the corresponding Local Power performance, by checking the correspondence of interests between the administrative and the participative bodies. This research has, in this sense, the objective of understanding the expressions of Local Power, through the analysis of the mentioned materialization process, considering the expansion of the Participatory Democracy instances in municipal health policy. Therefore, the research was conducted by a quantitative and qualitative study of case, guided by Marxian method (from abstract concrete to thought concrete), focusing on the Municipal Health Conferences of Ponta Grossa (MHCPG)’s final reports strategic actions’ materialization, in the years 2009 and 2011. The analysis’ quantitative dimension was achieved by organizing and coding the material, in order to extract from the documents the presence of delegates in the MHCPGs, and the rates of strategic actions present in the final reports of MHCPG’ materialization in MHS government plans. After achieving those results, we moved to the analysis’ qualitative dimension, in which four significant subjects of this process were interviewed, in order to understand their experiences and perceptions of it, which enabled us to compare them with quantitative data, normative regulations and related researches. As a result of the field research, we consider that the performance of the Local Power (in the materialization process examined) does not occur from a collective thought among the segments that compose it. Internally the MHCPGs, the Local Power participation is reduced and little trained, with unequal power relations, that result in a little purpose final report, without coordination with the local public health administrative management. This, in turn, represented by HMS, disregards the majority of the strategic actions present in the MHCPG’s reports, acting in a bureaucratic way, causing that, between 2009 and 2011, the demands required by the examined MHCPGs would configure similarly, highlighting the repeated needs in the Ponta Grossa’s health sector.

This Master’s Dissertation assesses the jurisprudence of the Federal Supreme Court in face of the writ of injunction, in the context of constitutionality control. We bring up a debate especially about the hermeneutical limits and possibilities of the contemporary constitutional jurisdiction in the Democratic State of Law. This work intends to show that the writ of injunction must be founded on a theory of judicial decision guided by the thesis of possibility (and need) of right answers in the Law, so that there is effectiveness through the fusion between the philosophical hermeneutic and the theory of integrity from Dworkin. In the first part of this text, we argue about the main fundaments for a theory of judicial decision in the Democratic State of Law. To reach this goal we develop a brief analysis about the origin of the constitutionalism and the constitutional jurisdiction, and we also mention the contributions from Dworkin and from the philosophical hermeneutic. In the second part of the text, there is an analysis of the writ of injunction, considering its origins as the evolution of the comprehension about the Federal Supreme Court, based on philosophical hermeneutic. As an approach method, the phenomenological hermeneutic method will be used. As procedure methods, the historical, monographic and comparative approaches will be used. As research techniques, direct documentation (jurisprudence) and indirect documentation (bibliographical research) will be used.
