Therefore, in basic education, the stimulus to the practice of drawing does not have the same privilege o speech and writing in curricular subjects. Consequently, these students present a resistance in the learning of the Technical Design. Some important considerations about the design are highlighted in: its position in the culture; The reason why most people stop drawing; And the role of the educator in this process. In addition, the research was based on the studies of some authors that define the design, its valuation, use and perception. This work presents a research on the relevance in the development of the graphic visual ability in the training of the students of the course of the Industrial Mechanical Engineering course of the Federal Institute of Bahia - IFBA, Salvador Campus, through a set of procedures and / or method capable to stimulate the graphic expression from the practice of the Design. For an adequate understanding about the design, it is needed to rediscovery the importance of drawing practice. / A defici?ncia da habilidade visual gr?fica prevalece na forma??o do discente dos cursos de Engenharias, enquanto a habilidade de ver e representar graficamente a forma dos objetos constru?dos n?o for desenvolvida no imagin?rio, os jovens e adultos tendem a manter as mesmas caracter?sticas do desenho infantil. Na educa??o b?sica, o est?mulo ? pr?tica do desenho n?o disp?e do mesmo privil?gio que a fala e a escrita nas disciplinas curriculares. Consequentemente, esses alunos apresentam resist?ncia ao aprendizado na disciplina do Desenho T?cnico. Destacam-se algumas considera??es relevantes sobre o desenho em: sua posi??o na cultura; o motivo pelo qual a maioria das pessoas deixa de desenhar; e o papel do educador nesse processo. O estudo pautou-se nos te?ricos que definem o desenho, sua valora??o, utiliza??o e percep??o. Este trabalho apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa-a??o sobre a relev?ncia no desenvolvimento da habilidade visual gr?fica na forma??o dos estudantes do curso de Engenharia Mec?nica Industrial, do Instituto Federal da Bahia ? IFBA, Campus Salvador, atrav?s de um conjunto de procedimentos e com a aplica??o do m?todo da lateralidade, estimulando a express?o gr?fica a partir da pr?tica do desenho. The fact that disciplines such as Geometric Design and Descriptive Geometry do not appear as compulsory in the curriculum as well as are not required in college entrance examinations makes them less important than Portuguese or Mathematics, for example. In this regard, the constructions of the motor aspects and the three-dimensional perceptual abilities of students are not seen as significant factors. This issue allows students to reach the first year of high school without the necessary basis to study design. This fact aims to demand a greater commitment of Design teachers to students who understand the subjects addressed. Based on this situation, computational programs focused on geometric design and modeling may have a pedagogical role in the development of spatial visualization skills, however, in the state of Bahia, undergraduate programs which train design teachers have not yet reformulated their r?sum?s to include the teaching of new tools for these areas of knowledge. In order to contribute to the learning of the technical design, in the Building Technician course at IFBA, located in Salvador city, the present master's dissertation sought, through the tools of Geometric Modeling, a method that could contribute to the learning of the Technical Design. / A desvaloriza??o do ensino das disciplinas de desenho, no ensino fundamental, se expressa nos altos ?ndices de reprova??o dos alunos que cursam Desenho T?cnico, nos cursos oferecidos pelo Instituto Federal da Bahia (IFBA). O fato de disciplinas como Desenho Geom?trico e Geometria Descritiva n?o constarem como obrigat?rias no curr?culo e n?o serem cobradas em exames de vestibular torna-as menos importantes do que Portugu?s ou Matem?tica, por exemplo. Neste sentido, as constru??es dos aspectos motores e das habilidades perceptivas tridimensionais dos alunos n?o s?o vistas como fatores importantes. Este problema permite que os alunos cheguem ao primeiro ano do ensino m?dio sem as bases necess?rias para cursar Desenho. Tal fato tende a exigir maior empenho dos professores de Desenho para que os alunos compreendam os assuntos abordados. Diante do problema, programas computacionais voltados para o desenho e a modelagem geom?trica podem ter papel pedag?gico no desenvolvimento das habilidades para visualiza??o espacial, por?m, na Bahia, os cursos de gradua??o que formam professores de desenho ainda n?o reformularam os seus curr?culos, incluindo o ensino de novas ferramentas para as referidas ?reas do conhecimento. No intuito de contribuir com a aprendizagem do Desenho T?cnico, no curso T?cnico em Edifica??es do IFBA, campus Salvador, a presente disserta??o procurou, por meio das ferramentas de Modelagem Geom?trica, um m?todo que pudesse ajudar com a aprendizagem do Desenho T?cnico.

On one side, we have rules that contribute to the disempowerment of such expertise in the Basic Education ? Primary and Secondary Education. On the other side, an educational policy that brings back values to the Technical Professional Education, that in its turn is a major step to courses in the field of industry and infrastructure mostly, which demands proper qualification and expertise in order to expand competencies in the interpretation and development of graph sketches through Technical Design. The instructor stands in between such two edges restricted to a small number of actual professionals. In addition, due to the ever-downsizing labor area those professionals usually work as tutors in technical schools at both primary and secondary levels, since Geometrical Design is a discipline no longer mandatory in the referred school?s curriculum. On the other hand, such subject is not only present but also mandatory to schools that require some expertise in graph constructions, since it has been denied to students who have just graduated from middle school. From 2007 on, with the Professional Education implemented by the local federal government Technical Design instructors migrated to technical schools as means to qualify scholars in those institutes who had no opportunity to be previously skilled in Geometrical Design. This study main objective is to raise means to students? autonomy development from the Instituto Federal da Bahia (IFBA), Salvador Campus, in the process of geometrical constructions from a logo study based upon a gap filling status in order to make Primary and Second Education less and less distant concerning the information upon Geometrical Design and Technical Design. Therefore, it was possible to identify the rank both Geometrical Design and Technical Design actually stand in the curriculum proposed by IFBA and analyze aspects related to expansion of competencies in Geometrical Design having a specific teaching strategy applied as a starting point. / O ensino do Desenho Geom?trico tem sido, para muitos docentes, um grande desafio. De um lado encontram-se as leis que colaboraram para o empobrecimento deste conhecimento na Educa??o B?sica e, do outro, uma pol?tica educacional voltada para a valoriza??o da Educa??o T?cnica Profissional, com a preval?ncia da oferta de cursos da ?rea industrial e de infraestrutura, ?reas de forma??o nas quais o conhecimento em Desenho Geom?trico ? fundamental para o desenvolvimento de compet?ncias, notadamente na interpreta??o e elabora??o de projetos gr?ficos atrav?s do Desenho T?cnico. Entre esses polos antag?nicos est? o docente qualificado para o ensino do Desenho, que assistiu ? gradativa e cont?nua redu??o da sua ?rea de atua??o, especialmente nas ?ltimas duas d?cadas, ocasionada pela desobriga??o do componente curricular Desenho Geom?trico nas Matrizes das escolas de Ensino Fundamental e M?dio. Com o implemento da Educa??o Profissional, a partir de 2007, este docente migrou para as escolas t?cnicas e passou a ministrar aulas de Desenho T?cnico para alunos que, egressos do Ensino Fundamental, em maioria, n?o tiveram acesso ao Desenho Geom?trico em virtude das altera??es suscitadas pela legisla??o atual, comprometendo, deste modo, a melhor compreens?o e aplica??o dos conte?dos estudados na forma??o t?cnica. No intuito de minimizar a lacuna existente entre o Ensino Fundamental e a Educa??o Profissional T?cnica de N?vel M?dio, no que diz respeito ao conhecimento relativo ao Desenho Geom?trico a ser aplicado ao Desenho T?cnico, este trabalho prop?e contribuir na cria??o de condi??es para o desenvolvimento da autonomia dos estudantes do Instituto Federal da Bahia (IFBA), Campus Salvador, no processo de constru??es geom?tricas a partir do estudo de logomarcas. Como consequ?ncia desta pesquisa, foi poss?vel identificar o lugar ocupado pelo Desenho Geom?trico na Matriz Curricular do IFBA ?
