[en] AN ANALYSIS OF THE DESIGNER S ROLE IN THE INTERNET OF THINGS / [pt] UMA ANÁLISE DO PAPEL DOS DESIGNERS NA INTERNET DAS COISAS

CELSO MEIRELLES DE OLIVEIRA SANTOS 09 May 2018 (has links)
[en] We are already living under the impact of what is considered the beginnings of the Third Wave of Information Technology or the Fourth Industrial Revolution, represented mainly by the advent of IOT (Internet of Things). This true invasion of new technologies is already starting to dramatically change the way we live, communicate, and work. The main objective of this dissertation is not only to evaluate the traditional methodology of design and the challenges that these new technologies of the IOT bring to the development of the work of the designers, but mainly to analyze how they must qualify to maintain their position of relevance in the development of the new products that characterize IOT, as defined by Porter and Heppelman (2014). Based on a thorough bibliographical and documentary research, I have tried to examine the new technologies and the components and services that are enabling the creation of these intelligent products, pinpoint the principal companies that are in the forefront of this revolution, research the areas in which these new products are already making a difference, indicate the changes and challenges that they present us with and see how and why companies that manufacture products are transforming themselves into production / services companies, or solely services companies. I also try to map the impact that these new technologies will have on the business models, design, marketing, engineering and relationships with the users of the services and products that incorporate them.

Uklanjanje visokog sadržaja organskih i neorganskih polutanata iz podzemnih voda Vojvodine primenom nanofiltracije / Organic and inorganic polutants high content removal from Vojvodina groundwater by application of nanofiltration

Kukučka Miroslav 23 September 2016 (has links)

/
The goal of this thesis was to examine removal possibility of high concentrations of organic and inorganic matter from aquatic solution using “Cross-flow” spiral wound nanofiltration membranes. Natural organic matter, ammonia ions and total arsenic removal was examined using concentrates – waste water obtained from industrial nanofiltration plant and they present NFCP experiment series. Removal of high concentrations of calcium, magnesium, iron and manganese ions was a part of NFWP experiments and was conducted using natural groundwater. Optimal fluxes and transmembrane pressures, as well as complexing substances dosage concentrations were determined. Obtained results in semi industrial scale are practically applicable on the large scale plants for drinking water preparation from deep wells, as well as from shallow aquifers. Application of presented results, concerning drinking water preparation from deep wells with significant savings of water resources, is designed especially for locations in Pannonia basin. Shallow aquifer well water treatment is applicable in practice especially because of addition of organic complexation agents that substitutes conventional deferization and manganese removal methods ultimately reducing investment and exploitation costs. On the basis of obtained results, industrial plant that produces drinking water from Zrenjanin aquifer deep well was designed. Furthermore, potable water industrial plant was designed that used shallow aquifer well water located in Bačka Palanka region, settlement Despotovo.

A framework for simulation-based integrated design of multiscale products and design processes

Panchal, Jitesh H. 23 November 2005 (has links)
The complexity in multiscale systems design is significantly greater than in conventional systems because in addition to interactions between components, couplings between physical phenomena and scales are also important. This complexity amplifies two design challenges: a) complexity of coupled simulation models prohibits design space exploration, and b) unavailability of complete simulation models that capture all the interactions. Hence, the challenge in design of multiscale systems lies in managing this complexity and utilizing the available simulation models and information in an efficient manner to support effective decision-making. In order to address this challenge, our primary hypothesis is that the information and computational resources can be utilized in an efficient manner by designing design-processes (meta-design) along with the products. The primary hypothesis is embodied in this dissertation as a framework for integrated design of products and design processes. The framework consists of three components 1) a Robust Multiscale Design Exploration Method (RMS-DEM), 2) information-economics based metrics and methods for simplification of complex design processes and refinement of simulation models, and 3) an information modeling strategy for implementation of the theoretical framework into a computational environment. The framework is validated using the validation-square approach that consists of theoretical and empirical validation. Empirical validation of the framework is carried out using various examples including: pressure vessel design, datacenter cooling system design, linear cellular alloy design, and multifunctional energetic structural materials design. The contributions from this dissertation are categorized in three research domains: a) multiscale design methodology, b) materials design, and c) computer-based support for collaborative, simulation-based multiscale design. In the domain of design methodology, new methods and metrics are developed for integrating the design of products and design processes. The methods and metrics are applied in the field of materials design to develop design-processes and specifications for Multifunctional Energetic Structural Materials. In the domain of computer-based support for design, an information modeling strategy is developed to provide computational support for meta-design. Although the framework is developed in the context of multiscale systems it is equally applicable to design of any other complex system.

Vizuální detekce elektronických součástek / Visual detection of electronic devices

Juhas, Miroslav January 2010 (has links)
This thesis describes application of image processing for precise distance measurement in self acting production of a tip for AFM microscopes. The main goal is to measure distances between assembly parts during fabrication process. The purpose is to acquire a data for self acting assembly line which have to substitute inaccurate and nonrecurring manual assembly process. The assembly process consists of three technological steps. In first two steps the tungsten wire is glued to the cantilever. Distance measurement is necessary in all axes for proper alignment of parts. In third step the sharp tip is etched by KOH solution. The right distance between liquid level and the cantilever must be kept. A camera with high resolution and macro objective is used to acquire an image. Camera image is then calibrated to suppress distortions and scene position with respect to camera position. Length conversion coefficient is also computed. Object recognition and distance measurement is based on standard computer vision methods, mainly: adaptive thresholding, moments, image statistics, canny edge detector, Hough transform… Proposed algorithms have been implemented in C++ using Intel OpenCV library. The final achieved distance resolution is about 10µm per pixel. Algorithm output was successfully used to assembly few test tips.

Das Designkonzept im Transportation Design: Einordnung, Analyse und zukünftige Anwendung

Krzywinski, Jens 06 June 2011 (has links)
PIECES : A sense of the past in a furniture for the future

Toijanen, Annika January 2023 (has links)
In pieces I wanted to create a design solution inspired by traditional wooden furnitures. Furnitures, like the kitchen sofa with built in storage and a place to sleep or the lockable free-standing linen cabinet that held hand crafted treasures safe and clean inside. Furnitures that are large in size and can be hard to fit into smaller homes today but that holds a huge sentimental value to the owner and are often handed down through generations as heirlooms. So what if I could weave in a piece of my own family history into a design solution that can fit in smaller living spaces while still be an attractive choice for larger ones? Pieces resulted in two wooden cabinets that tell part of my family history through the repetitative, organic shapes that I have implemented into them. They are a tribute to my grandmother Aino and her three year younger sister Hanna and my way of symbolically reclaiming their right to the land, forests and lakes around their childhood home that the two sisters didn´t get to share with their siblings in the inheritance after my great grandparents. The methods I have used in my research are surveys, workshops, in-depth interviews and my own observations. Major design decisions have been based on the input from my research process with the goal to display two full scale cabinets at Konstfack's spring exhibition in May 2023.

Objekty vstupní zóny Papírny WANEMI, a.s. v Zábřehu / Entrance zone objects of WANEMI, a.s. paper-mill in Zábřeh

Horký, Jan January 2010 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the entrance zone objects nearby a to-be-built energetic-paper mill factory WANEMI, Inc. in Zábřeh. It consists of two objects: a presentation pavilion and an administrative building. My design combines a function of parking and administration into one single object to occupy less land. Garages are intersected by a big open skylight in the middle with some trees planted in - this way people are moving as if in the treetops. The exhibition pavilion is situated in the intersection of main view axes to landscape dominants. Their extension is projected even into the interior where they determine main spaces. Visitor of the building climbs the way up along the important views to finish his way upstairs in the main hall.
