Particles with Negative Mass: Production, Properties and Applications for Nuclear Fusion and Self-Acceleration

Tajmar, Martin, Assis, A. K. T. 21 July 2015 (has links) (PDF)
Some experiments have indicated the possible existence of par ticles with a negative inertial mass. It is shown under which condit ions Weber’s electrodynamics gives rise to this effect. Some specific experiments related to this aspect of Weber’s law are described. Two particles equ ally electrified with charges of the same sign would then move toward one an other if they had negative effective inertial masses. A new concept for nuclear fusion is presented based on the possibility of creating a negative effective inertial mass for ions. It is then considered some properties of the inertial dipole, that is, a system composed by a pair of particles in which one particle has a positive effective inertial mass while the other particle has a negative effective inertial mass. The possible utilization of the inertialdipole as a propulsion system is briefly discussed.

Speciální reflektory pro širokopásmové dipólové antény / Special reflectors for wideband dipole antennas

Velička, Pavel January 2012 (has links)
The thesis is focused on special corrugated reflectors for ultra-wideband antennas. Corrugated reflectors are divided into a type H and a type E. Both these types are mutually combined. All those reflectors are simulated and subsequently analyzed. The thesis also deals with different types of broadband dipoles, which are completed by investigated types of reflectors. Created reflector antennas are then compared. For antennas exhibiting the best parameters, we performed simulations of the transmission between two antennas. For the simulations, we used CST Microwave Studio. Selected antennas were manufactured and measured. Consequent simulations were aimed to detect differences between the simulated and measured results.

Jéger, Csaba January 2017 (has links)
SEAM (Small Explorer for Advanced Missions) is a 3U CubeSat developedat KTH Royal Institute of Technology which will provide highqualityDC and AC magnetic field measurements of Earth’s magneticfield. The measurement system requires extended periods of timeup to 1000 seconds without active attitude control. The satellite willuse passive gravity gradient stabilization and dipole cancellation via aseparate set of magnetorquers to satisfy LVLH pointing requirementsduring the coasting phases. In this thesis a detailed model of satellitemagnetic moment is presented which includes dipole moment sourcesfrom on-board current loops. The attitude dynamics of the satelliteis characterized with simulations and a strategy is proposed to estimateand compensate the time-dependent magnetic dipole momentusing the dipole compensation magnetorquers and an offline estimationalgorithm. The algorithm is tested with simulated error sourcesand noise and was found to be able to robustly identify and cancel outthe satellite dipole to satisfy mission requirements.

Antenna Implants and Feasibility of Performance Limitations : AStudy of Radiation Efficiency on Electrically Small Antenna Implants with Finite Conductivity and Size / Antennimplantat och rimlighetsbedömning av dess prestandabegränsningar : En studie gällande effektivitet för elektriskt små antennimplant av realistisk konduktivitet och storlek

Algarp, Erik January 2022 (has links)
Antenna implants are used to establish a telemetry link to enable wireless data transfer, suitable for telemedicine and other medical applications. Inbody environments with water-based tissues lead to severe power absorption, making signal strength and radiation efficiency challenging yet central performance aspects of antenna implants. Fundamental performance limits exist regarding radiation efficiency; however, these limits consider theoretically ideal Hertzian dipoles. A semi-analytical model is used to evaluate the feasibility of previously determined fundamental bounds and the optimal dipole solution, both with respect to physical necessities of finite material conductivity and antenna size. This study uses a spherical model to represent a simplified in-body environment with various phantom compositions. Furthermore, the study focuses on implants operating within the Medical Implant Communication System (MICS) frequency band, but models and methods are not restricted to the considered frequency. The work contributes to the field of implantable antennas in several aspects; evaluating the feasibility of fundamental bounds, establishing more realistic performance limits, and determining the optimal dipole solution with respect to radiation efficiency. Other findings are presented in related areas, particularly concerning conductor loss and evaluation of the impedance for antennas inside a high-loss phantom. Moreover, the work presents a suggested method to measure electrically small magnetic dipole antennas. Methods and models are documented in a substantial theoretical derivation, and findings are verified using independent methods. Neglecting necessary antenna aspects like finite size and conductivity can lead to faulty conclusions on implant performance. Providing a more realistic performance target helps predict the performance of realistic antenna designs. Ultimately, increased knowledge of implanted antennas simplifies the design process to achieve high-performance implants.

Inverse source modeling of roll induced magnetic signature / Invers källmodellering av rullningsinducerad magnetisk signatur

Thermaenius, Erik January 2022 (has links)
Vessels constructed in electrically conductive materials give rise to frequency-dependent, induced magnetic fields when waves of water cause them to roll in the Earth's magnetic field. These fields, typically referred to as roll-induced magnetic vortex fields, are a component of the ship's overall signature, where signature refers to measurable quantities which can reveal or identify objects. It is crucial for military platforms to keep the signature low and thereby increase the possibilities of operation. For magnetic signatures, this is done through strategic design and construction of the platform or by using magnetic silencing systems. The signature is then decreased to minimize the risk of detection from naval mines and marine detection systems.  This report covers the initial research on the subject of an inverse source model for roll induced magnetic fields. By limiting the analysis to two basic objects and applying a time variant magnetic field to them, we induce a magnetic field which we then model. The inverse modeling is done using magnetic dipoles as sources which are placed around the area of the object. The parameters of the model are then found by applying a least squares algorithm coupled with Tikhonov regularization. The focus of this report is the configuration of this setup in terms of measurements and sources, as well as finding a proper regularization parameter. Since the applied magnetic field is dependent on the roll frequency, also the inverse model depends on a frequency parameter in addition to the geometry and material of the object. The objects here studied are of two simple geometries, a rectangular block and a hollow cylinder. Both objects are constructed in an aluminum alloy with well known material parameters. Measurement data is gathered using a numerical solver utilizing the finite element method for solving the partial differential equations. The numerical measurement data is compared to physical measurements as well. The physical measurement data is gathered by placing the objects in a Helmholtz-cage which is used to apply a homogeneous time variant magnetic field upon them. The project was carried out at the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) at the department of underwater research.

Investigation of Near-Field Contribution in SBR for Installed Antenna Performance

Hultin, Harald January 2019 (has links)
To investigate near-eld contributions for installed antennas, an in-house code iswritten to incorporate near-eld terms in Shooting and Bouncing Rays (SBR). SBRis a method where rays are launched toward an object and scatter using GeometricalOptics (GO). These rays induce currents on the object, from which the totalscattered eld can be found. To gauge the eect of near-eld terms, the in-house code can be set to excludenear-eld terms. Due to this characteristic, the method is named SBR Includingor Excluding Near-eld Terms (SIENT). The SIENT implementation is thoroughlydescribed. To make SIENT more exible, the code works with triangulated meshesof objects. Antennas are represented as near-eld sources, allowing complex antennasto be represented by simple surface currents. Further, some implementedoptimizations of SIENT are shown. To test the implemented method, SIENT is compared to a reference solution andcomparable commercial SBR solvers. It is shown that SIENT compares well to thecommercial options. Further, it is shown that the inclusion of near-eld terms actsas a small correction to the far-eld of the installed antenna. På grund av denna karaktär, kallas koden SBR Including or Excluding Near-field Terms (SIENT).
