The theory used in the analysis of empirical data is new-institutionalismen. New-institutionalism is a theory developed from organizational theories. Research emanating from organizations influence from the outside world has been designated a new - institutionalism. The new institutionalism is based on individuals, and environmental impact on the organization, as well as their interaction The results of the study mean that different privacy laws are an obstacle in the interaction and also lack of resources is a barrier. Medling vid anledning av brott: En behandling i skymundan : En kvalitativ studie om medlarnas erfarenheter kring samarbetet med polisen samt möjliga lösningar för verksamhetens utmaningar / Victim-Offender Mediation in Sweden: A treatment that has been sidelined : A qualitative study on collaboration between VOM-practitioners and the policeSjögren, Carl Magnus, Sjöberg, Julia January 2022 (has links)
Victim-Offender Mediation (VOM) is a common measure to handle criminal behaviour among the youth. The treatment has however encountered some difficulties in Sweden given its inefficient implementation and organisation. Swedish mediators must collaborate very closely and continuously with the police authorities, which many mediators are unable to do due to budgetary reasons and the work hours allotted for inter-agency cooperation specifically. The purpose of this thesis is to examine the experiences of VOM-mediators in what amounts to a vital collaboration with the police. 11 mediators were interviewed using a thematic analysis. Two main themes emerged from the interview sessions. The first theme showed the challenges associated with mediator-police cooperation, such as separate institutional theories between the two agencies. The second theme indicated how some mediators had managed to find a different approach to maintaining and cultivating a functioning cooperation with the police. The framework of new institutional theories was applied in order to explain the causes behind inefficient collaboration. The interviews showed that mediators and municipalities had handled these said difficulties in different ways. One successful measure was to integrate the social service mediator in the police building, causing friction to lessen and VOM to integrate more effectively within the police. The possibility to spend valuable work hours on collaboration mattered significantly. Municipalities which had provided mediators with sufficient time for mediation supported the development of a frictionless inter-agency collaboration. There was a vast difference between mediators who were actively supported by their organizations in this regard than those who were not.

The interplay of life domains: Conceptual developments in a changing workplaceKempen, Regina 05 July 2016 (has links)
In the light of major changes affecting the workplace, the present research investigates the interaction of life domains. Specifically, the studies included in this research comprehensively integrate conceptual advancements in the literature on the interaction of life domains. These advancements refer to the scope of the life domains considered, the different directions of interactions between the work and the private life domain, the inclusion of a positive perspective on the interplay, and the adoption of multi-time and multi-level research methodology. At the same time, the present research adopts new perspectives by investigating life domain conflict and enrichment from an international perspective, by integrating boundary management tactics and by considering the role of emotions at the workplace. Four different studies based on different international and domestic samples were conducted. The results of the first study demonstrate that life domain enrichment plays an important role for international assignees and contributes to the prediction of important outcomes beyond what is contributed by life domain conflict. Using a large international sample, the second study underlines the need to take cultural value dimensions into account when examining the interplay of life domains. This study indicates that Individualism/Collectivism moderate the relationship between life domain conflict and satisfaction outcomes, such that the relationship is stronger in cultures high on Individualism. In the third study, the impact of boundary management tactics for the interplay of different life domains is shown for a sample of expatriates. Specifically, the third study demonstrates that permeability and flexibility of life domains are associated with life domain conflict and enrichment. Finally, the fourth study adopts a longitudinal research design using a weekly diary approach. This study indicates that daily affective events and mood predict life domain conflict and enrichment over time. Taken together, the present studies demonstrate that the integration of conceptual advancements with recent trends at the workplace substantially contribute to our knowledge on life domain interactions and open promising avenues for future research. At the same time, this integration provides several implications for organizations and individuals for the successful management of the interplay of life domains in a modern workplace.
