This research addresses the recent history of the city of Teresina, capital of Piauí, having as study object the sociability and urban sensibilities in cultural spaces of that metropolis, in the 1980s and 1990s. The analysis of these sociabilities and urban sensibilities occurred from the study of the history of the Nós e Elis bar, and the time frame was based on the lifetime of this bar, which was from 1984-1995. The focus in this nightclub was based on the view that it was configured as a plural space that congregated dreams and desires of the Teresina youth, especially artists, in its intrinsic relationship with the city and the context of the time. The research subjects were the local artists (especially the actors, musicians and writers) who experienced the cultural spaces of the city of Teresina in the period. The subject field of this research falls into the history of cities from the perspective of the New Cultural History, which views the city as a problem, and a reflection object, where the urban imaginary can be worked, analyzing discourses and images of the city representation that reflect spaces, actors and social practices. The narrative was built based on various sources including newspapers, essays, poetry, official written documents, dramatic texts, images, videos, music and oral testimonies. The analysis of these sources and the discussion on the historical categories relied on the theoretical support of various thinkers, among them Sandra Pesavento (2007) and Michel de Certeau (2008) regarding the city issues, sociability and urban sensibilities; Paul Ricoeur (2007), Lucília Delgado (2006), Pierre Nora (1993) and Michel Pollak (1989; 1992) for memory issues; and Roger Chartier (1990; 2002) for representation issues. The work shows the provincialism of the capital (represented by some researched sources), forms of leisure, the sociabilities and cultural production among the cultural spaces of the city, such as the Pedro II Square, the September 4th Theater, the Cine Rex, the Craft Center, the club Diaries and Punaré Bookstore. The research indicated the CEPI (Center for Studies and Interdisciplinary Research) and UFPI (Federal University of Piauí) as two institutions that have excelled in artistic education and in the cultural promotion of the city of Teresina. It also pointed out the Nós e Elis bar as one of the main cultural spaces in the city because of the importance of activities carried out there and the regulars who represented the synthesis of intellectual and artistic intelligentsia of Piauí.

The Salvia hispanica L., or chia, has been studied mainly due to the quality of its oil, which is composed predominantly by polyunsaturated fatty acids, important for the prevention or amelioration of several metabolic disorders of the metabolic syndrome. Due to its polyunsaturated structure, the fatty acids are highly prone to oxidation, leading to undesirable flavors and odors in the enrichment of food. Milk proteins have important functional properties, including their ability to bind to hydrophobic molecules and, to some extent, retard the oxidation, which allows them to serve as excellent materials for encapsulation. To improve the stability of chia oil and maintain the nutritional value in food products as well as to improve the sensory characteristics of food (color, flavor, odor and texture), the aim of this study was to develop a cereal bar containing nanocapsules of casein chia seed oil. The nanocapsules were prepared using interfacial deposition of casein in a solution of Milli-Q ® water. The chia oil was obtained commercially (Sap Brazius ®) and used at a concentration of 0.3%. The oil was dissolved in ethanol and added to the casein solution under agitation at 40° C for 2 hours. The samples were obtained in triplicate and left at room temperature at 40 °C and 4 °C for 90 days. After the storage period, the samples were analyzed at 30, 60, and 90 days, characterized by determining the pH, particle diameter, polydispersity index (PI) and zeta potential. The samples left at room temperature and 40 °C presented precipitation of the suspension after 30 days, not remaining stable. However, the samples left at 4 °C had an initial pH of 6.63 ± 0.06, particle diameter 213 ± 57 nm 22.4 , PI 0.27 ± 0.15 and zeta potential of - 35.9 ± 4.45 mV. After 90 days, we observed a pH of 6.53 ± 0.06, a particle diameter of 215.68 ± 24 nm, PI 0.15 ± 0.055, and zeta potential of -33.2 ± 6.45 mV. The encapsulation efficiency was 86.53 % ± 4.73, showing to be a good method to nano-encapsulate oils and prevent their oxidation. Five cereal bars have been developed (without oil , with 5% chia oil, and 1 % , 5 % and 10 % suspension of nanocapsules, respectively) and we evaluated the chemical composition (moisture , protein, fat , crude fiber , ash and carbohydrates ) and sensory analysis of the cereal bars developed . The total energy value was 361.9 ± 18.4 kcal / 100g , 14.3 ± 1.3 % moisture , 7.2 ± 0.46 % protein , 9.7 ± 2.54 % lipid , 6.0% ± 2.9 % fiber , 1.3 % ash ± 0.14 and 61.6 ± 2.9 % carbohydrate. All cereal bars had an acceptability index greater than 70 % for the different attributes (color, odor, flavor and texture), proving to be satisfactory, with good potential for consumption, having a value of approximately R$ 2.50, which would be compatible with the market.

Grain size evolution of a vanadium microalloyed steel during bar rolling mill - 38MnSiV5.

Valdir Anderson Silvério 20 March 2008 (has links)
Microalloyed steels are used as forging stock for many automotive parts such as crankshafts and connecting rods. Using mathematical equations describing the recrystallization kinetics and grain growth, a spreadsheet has been developed to simulate the austenitic grain size evolution during bar rolling mill schedules as a function of temperature, strain rate and time between passes. The calculated ferritic grain size was compared with samples taken from the process and physical simulation (torsion testing). Comparison between mathematical modeling and physical simulation with the plant bar rolling mill process shows that it is possible to predict the microstructural evolution and confirm the main grain refinement control mechanism as being static recrystallization, under the conditions prevailing in the plant where this study has been carried out.

Automation of the cutting and bending process of reinforcing bars for concrete structures integrated to the BIM process.

Alex Roda Maciel 29 May 2018 (has links)
The consolidation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) possibly contributes to the increase of the efficiency in the construction industry, by fostering new workflows and data reuse throughout projects life cycle. Despite the potential for integration and automation associated with BIM, the use of the digital information contained in the model to facilitate prefabrication of construction products is still incipient. The digital fabrication finds obstacles in sectors that act in a segregated manner, henceforth needs standard adoption to allow reuse of the information generated in the phases prior to production. In this context, it was analyzed the use of digital fabrication applied to the industrial processing of reinforcement bars for concrete structures (rebar cutting and bending). Although the fabricators who act in this sector already have support to the digital interface with other agents, the supply chain configuration adopted by the Brazilian market, as well as the traditional paper-based processes employed, promote the occurrence of \"islands of automation\" connected by manual data transfer. In order to reduce the need for manual intervention for data re-interpretation and re-entry, it is proposed to use the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) data schema to promote the digital interface between the reinforcing bar supply chain stakeholder\'s. This work aims to present an IFC-based technical solution to the fabricator\'s information requirements by means of the Information Delivery Manual (IDM) and Model View Definition (MVD) standards. On the basis of the exchange requirements specified by rebar fabricator through IDM method, it is presented the IFC schema subset entailed and how this information can be mapped in order to allow the use of IFC on the cut & bend rebar supply chain. Finally, the technical solution was documented in an MVD and validate with the ifcDoc tool. After conducting validation tests based on the IFC4 schema, it was verified the viability to recover the data contained in the model. However, the lack of commercial tools that support such functionality has also been identified.

MUSKULÄR STYRKA VID MULTIPLA REPETITIONER: : SKILLNADER VID STYRKETEST I BÄNKPRESS OCH LIGGANDE BÄNKRODD MED SKIVSTÄNGER AV OLIKA DIAMETEROMFÅNG

Westerberg, Martin January 2010 (has links)
Introduction: A complex interaction between muscles, tendons, bones, joints and nerves are required for optimal function of the human hand. It is known that an individual’s grip strength is vital for performance of physical demanding tasks such as strength training with free weights. Strength training including a thicker grip around the bar may enhance the strength of the grip in the athlete without other special routines for grip strength development. The purpose of this investigation was to examine the difference in performance in multiple repetitions in two strength training exercises using two different sizes on the bar, to look for correlations between grip strength of the subjects hand and the amount of repetitions executed with two different size of the bar and finally the correlation of hand size and the amount of repetitions executed with two different size of the bar. Method: 15 strength training men (23,9 ± 4,1 years), underwent measurements of hand size, maximum grip strength, 1 repetition maximum (1RM), a 80 % of 1RM weight strength test with two different  bar sizes. Results: The results from the present investigation indicates a 21,1 % reduction of 80 % of 1 RM weight performance in repetitions executed in the bench press with the thicker diameter of the bar and a 66,2 % reduction in repetitions executed with a 80 % of 1 RM weight in the lying bench row with the thicker diameter of the bar. The size of the hand or the maximum grip strength does not influences the performance in the 80 % of 1 RM strength test. Conclusion: With support of the results from this present investigation the size of the bar diameter significant influences the performance in maximum repetitions executed in a set in strength training with free weights, in a rowing exercise the repetitions executed reduced with 66,2 % and in the bench press the reduction of executed repetitions were 21,1 % with the thicker diameter of the bar. The size of the hand do not influences the performance of maximal executed repetitions with the thicker bar diameter. Maximal grip strength has no influence of the performance according to the findings of this investigation.

Postavení a činnost České advokátní komory / Position and activities of the Czech Bar Chamber

Beranová, Tereza January 2015 (has links)
- Position and activities of the Czech Bar Chamber The topic of my thesis is "Position and activities of the Czech Bar Chamber". The purpose of the thesis is to analyze the role, importance and functioning of the professional chamber which associates over of 12 000 attorneys. I have chosen this particular topic as I think the available literature dealing with professional chambers, particularly the Czech Bar Association (hereinafter CBA) is not up-to- date and does not comprehensively cover the current status of this institution. In addition to the descriptive passages the thesis includes statistical data analysis, reflections on the current state of the CBA and its possible transformation. The thesis is composed of five chapters; the first chapter is a brief introduction to the issue of self-government. It covers what this term means, explains the dividing of self- government and focuses on describing the related terms. The second chapter provides an insight into the history of attorney self-government. Its formation and development is presented including the production of relevant legislation from the late 19th century through the period of the first Republic of Czechoslovakia, to the era of the destructive socialist regime until the post-revolutionary renaissance of freedom of advocacy. Modelling peanuts in barred galaxies : gas flows and constraints on the dark matter content / Modélisation des bulbes cacahuètes dans les galaxies barrées : écoulement du gaz et contraintes sur le contenu de la matière noire

Fragkoudi, Frantzeska 30 October 2015 (has links)
By exploring the dynamics of galaxies we obtain a wealth of information regarding their various mass components, their formation and evolution. In this thesis I make extensive use of dynamical models obtained directly from images of observed galaxies. I therefore start by improving these models by including the geometry of boxy/peanut (B/P) bulges, and quantifying their effects on the models. B/P bulges have a significant effect on the potential, forces, orbital structure and bar strength of the models, and as such should be included in order to make them as accurate as possible. I then employ dynamical models with and without B/P bulges to determine their effect on gas inflow to the central regions. I show that in the presence of B/P bulges the bar strength is reduced, as is the amount of gas inflow, leading to smaller mass concentrations in the centres of galaxies. Furthermore, I employ dynamical models to carry out a detailed study of the nearby galaxy NGC 1291. I use the non-axisymmetric nature of the bar, which induces shocks in the gas - thus creating dust lanes along the leading edges of the bar - to put constraints on the mass-to-light ratio of the disc. The results argue strongly that NGC 1291 has a maximal disc, i.e. that in the central regions, baryonic matter dominates over the dark matter. Furthermore I place limits on the pattern speed of the bar, showing that the bar rotates fast. I thus demonstrate that the dynamical method used can provide constraints on the dark matter distribution of observed galaxies, and therefore also on current models of galaxy formation and evolution.

Distribution and abundance of nearshore aquatic habitat, Fraser River, British Columbia

Perkins, Ashley 05 1900 (has links)
Physical habitat for instream biota derives from a combination of stream system structural and hydraulic phenomena. Consequently, the quantity and quality of physical habitat is dynamic both over time and in space along the river, laterally, longitudinally and vertically. Its characterization through stream assessment and classification leads to a better understanding of factors that determine and limit habitat extent and quality. This thesis investigates the effects of space and time on nearshore aquatic habitat in the gravel reach of Fraser River, British Columbia by employing a large river, stage-adaptive habitat classification system. The distribution and abundance of habitat are spatially quantified at the reach scale (32 km), and temporally quantified through a period of about 60 years at several adjacent gravel bars (7 km), and at approximately 500 m3 s-1 increments in discharge during the declining limb of the flood hydrograph at two well-developed gravel bars. Of the ten habitat types evaluated, the bar edge habitat type is most abundant by length and number of units. However, its relative importance is reduced when weighted by fish-habitat association characteristics. Preferred habitat types (channel nook, eddy pool and open nook) are frequent and available to aquatic organisms, and most common at well-developed bars and in zones of equilibrium long-term sedimentation. Preferred habitat was at a maximum 30 years ago when major new bars developed and the thalweg shifted, effectively increasing the amount of bar shoreline and nearshore habitat. This increase is due to substantial change in river planform morphology following a 30-year period of large annual floods. However, amounts of habitat did not increase exclusively during periods of higher than average flows, or decrease exclusively during periods of lower than average flows. Instead, habitat abundance response to flow may occur with a two- or three-year lag. Short term changes in stage are critical to amount of preferred habitat. Optimal discharge for maximum preferred habitat vailability is in the range of approximately 2500 m3 s-1 to 4000 m3 s-1, which approximates long term mean flow. As flow increases, the proportion of preferred habitat compared with total bar shoreline decreases. Comparison with the 2006 flow duration curve shows that 15 – 30 % of discharges are optimal for maximum fish density and biomass. These discharges occurred during April 27 to May 17 and July 14 to August 7, 2006. / Arts, Faculty of / Geography, Department of / Graduate
