AutoTruck : Automated docking with internal sensors

ANDERSSON, OSCAR, MOLIN, LUCAS January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this bachelor thesis was to discover how an articulated vehicle can park itself using a pre-defined parking path with a combination of ultrasonic sensors as well as a rotary angle sensor. The project was divided into two parts: constructing a small scale demonstrator and the software controlling the demonstrator. The demonstrator was constructed from offthe- shelf components and custom parts. The truck was designed based on a rear wheel driven truck with Ackermann steering. The localization of a parking spot and measuring other distances was done with ultrasonic sensors and the hitch angle was measured by a rotary angle sensor. The performance of the demonstrator was evaluated by measuring the trailers angle difference from the center line of the parking spot. The performance was deemed to be reasonably good with successful parkings in 8 out of 10 attempts.

Efektivita využití konceptu EMS v porovnání s jinými způsoby přepravy / Efficiency of the EMS concept in comparison with other modes of transport

Míková, Barbora January 2015 (has links)
This thesis focuses on concept of European Modular System. It describes its characteristics, main advantages and disadvantages and experiences of other countries. A separate chapter focuses on swap bodies so that modular heavy goods vehicles can be compared to them in practical part of this thesis. Aim of this thesis is to evaluate what is better for transport of particular goods, if classical semi-trailer unit with maximum allowed length of 16,5 m, combined transport road-rail with use of swap bodies or modular heavy goods vehicle. Costs, transpotation times and emissions will be compared in this section. The thesis also aims at evaluating if main arguments of opponents of this concept are eligible or not.

Profit Margins: The American Silent Cinema and the Marginalization of Advertising

Groskopf, Jeremy W 26 June 2013 (has links)
In the early years of the twentieth century, the unique new medium of motion pictures was the focus of significant theorization and experimentation at the fringes of the American advertising industry. Alongside the growth of the nickelodeon, and the multiple shifts in the American cinema's business model in the 'transitional era,' various individuals at the margins of the advertising industry attempted, and most often failed, to integrate direct consumer-goods advertising regularly into motion picture theaters. Via techniques as diverse as the glass slide, the commercial trailer, and the advertising wall-clock, cinema patrons of the 1910s witnessed various attempts by merchants and manufacturers to intrude upon their attention in the cinema space. Through research in the trade presses of the cinema, advertising, and various consumer-goods industries, along with archival ephemera from the advertising companies themselves, this dissertation explores these various on and off-screen tactics for direct advertising attempted in silent cinemas, and their eventual minimization in the American cinema experience. Despite the appeal of the new, popular visual medium of cinema to advertisers, concerns over ticket prices, advertising circulation, audience irritation, and the potential for theatrical 'suicide-by-advertising,' resulted, over a mere fifteen years, in the near abandonment of the cinema as an advertising medium. As a transitional medium between the 19th century forms of print and billboarding, and 20th century broadcasting, the silent cinema was an important element in the development of modern advertising theories.

Mobil Bastu

Berg, Joakim, Skog, Per Øyvind January 2012 (has links)
This thesis is an addition to pictures and animation that has been developed using CATIA V5. The animation and the images are a market basis to test whether the product is of interest in the Nordic market. The thesis is structured with elements of the Fredy Olsson method. In this thesis there is also a short presentation of the company Tylö AB, which been chosen to market test the product. A product definition with the sub-headings; “Description and use of product”, “Environmentand users”, “Economy” and “Product inquiry”, are the basis for the product. A list of criteria with conditions and requirements is established. These criteria are then weighted in a matrix. Product ideas are evaluated using the matrix. After defining the criteria and evaluation, a profile is created with a track where woodenpanels and insulation can be fixed upon. This is followed by a design specification which explains details of every component in the product. With this description belongs a matrix in which the product components are classified as finished and special units and also if these require routine or special treatment. Execution of rendering and animation are explained and results are shown with rendered images. The report concludes with a brief conclusion, critical review and suggestions for further work.

Constrained dynamic path planning for a tractor and semi-trailer vehicle

Mugarza, Imanol January 2015 (has links)
The aim for this project is to design and implement a dynamic path planningmethod for a tractor and semi-trailer vehicle. This vehicle will be in environmentwhich is simulated as a harbour, where containers and other autonomously guidedvehicles are represented as possible objects. Various physical limitations of thevehicle are taken into consideration. For this purpose, a simulator is built, where the environment is reproduced.During the simulation, the vehicle should drive towards the goal avoiding contain-ers and other vehicles, which are sensed by a detection and tracking system. Also,a case study is provided where the functionality of the proposed solution is shownin a given environment. Based on the results of the project, the vehicle computes and follows a tra-jectory towards the goal until a collision is predicted. A new alternative path iscalculated then in order to avoid the obstacle.

Safety while handling trailers

Kinik, Ayça January 2012 (has links)
Road transportation grew by 3.3 % per year over the past ten years which is faster than the economic growth of 2.3 % per year. European Commission plans for an increase of 55 % for road transportation between 2000 and 2020. This growth puts pressure on current trucking industry considering fuel consumption, emissions of green house gases, and traffic congestion.  High demand logistics industry and current pressure creates trends towards flexibility and longer vehicle combinations for efficiency and to reduce the number of engines on roads, challenging the current coupling methods of the trailers.  Primary method called 5th wheel coupling comes from a similar coupling used on 4 wheel horse-drawn carriages of the 19th century which is reliable in terms of attaching truck and trailer but has significant safety, efficiency and comfort issues for driver and the vehicles-people around.  So what if hauling setup could be safer and smarter?

The potential impact of mobile home parks on school enrollment in Indiana

Field, Frank R. January 1972 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to determine the potential impact on school enrollment resulting from the development of mobile home parks in Indiana by identifying and defining unique or controlling characteristics of mobile home parks related to average yield of children per mobile home unit. Five specific areas of research were developed to insure that data relative to the potential impact of mobile home parks on school enrollment might be secured.
