Architecture for a remote diagnosis system used in heavy-duty vehicles

Björkman, Anders January 2008 (has links)
<p>The diagnosis system of a Scania vehicle is an indispensable tool for workshop personnel and engineers in their work. Today Scania has a system for fetching diagnostic information from field test vehicles remotely and store them in a database, so called remote diagnosis. This saves the engineers much time by not having to visit every vehicle. The system uses a Windows based on-board PC in the vehicle called an Interactor. The Interactor has a telematic unit for communication with Scanias Fleet Management System and the CAN-bus in the vehicle. In the next generation of the Interactor, its telematic unit is to be replaced by a Linux based telematic unit called the Communicator 200 (C200). The purpose of this master project is to create a new architecture for a remote diagnosis system that uses the new telematic unit Communicator 200.</p><p><br />The thesis gives an analysis of the current remote diagnosis system used at Scania and proposes an architecture for a new generation remote diagnosis system using the C200. Also a system for demonstrating how to perform remote diagnosis over the C200 has been built. The thesis describes the operation and how the demonstration system was implemented.</p>

FPGA design of a controller for a CAN controller. / FPGA design av en kontrollenhet för en CAN-kontrollenhet.

Andersson, Robby January 2003 (has links)
<p>This diploma work describes how an FPGA is designed to control a CAN controller. It describes the different tools used when working with Actel’s design tools and the sequence of work applied. It gives a short overview of a multiplexer, the CAN bus, an analog/digital-converter and some more information on the actual FPGA. It also brings up the design process of the FPGA, planning, coding, simulating, testing and finally programming the FPGA. The different parts implemented in the FPGA are a shift-register and two state- machines that are connected with each other. They work together to control the SJA1000 CAN controller made by Philips. They also receive data from the analog/digital-converter that they forward onwards to the CAN controller that forward the data on the CAN bus.</p>

Development of a Control Systems Platform for an Autonomous Soft-Car

Ray, Pratish January 2015 (has links)
Balloon Cars (Soft Cars) used for active-system testing are presently statically following one specific path. Autonomous GPS driven balloon cars can be extremely useful if made to be accurate.Volvo group’s long term plan involves usage of such cars to improve active-safety systems. Thisreport presents comprehensive details about the development of the control system of the soft-car.Software development was preceded by purchase of parts. Detailed descriptions of the ballooncar hardware components are presented. Various hardware components were interconnected toform a CAN Bus network. This thesis work describes CAN networks in general and with referenceto the developed Linux based software system. The navigation system is presented in the thesis report using a ‘bottom up’ approach. First theLow-level functions and variables are described that directly control the hardware component. They are called by high level functions that are subsequently explained. The high level functionsinclude accurate turning and an automated lane change process. The high level functions may be sequentially called and to accurately follow a specific path. Various lines and points may be used in a user defined Cartesian coordinate system. Details about theperformance of various high level functions as well as of a demonstration of a pattern are presented along with the limitations of the overall system.

The influences of shrimp farming and fishing practices on natural fish conservation in Can Gio, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Nguyen, Van Trai January 2008 (has links)
Research Doctorate - Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) / Shrimp farming and capture fishery are two of the major industries of Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City, southern Vietnam. These industries have recently developed and contributed to the improvement of local economy. However, they have also raised environmental concerns regarding water pollution and fish stock depletion. The negative impacts of shrimp farm effluents on the water quality of mainstream rivers and fish communities have not been studied in Can Gio. Additionally, there is a lack of research on the influence of the current fisheries management on environmental protection and fish conservation in this district. The goal of this study was to address key issues in fisheries management in Can Gio in regard to the impacts of wastewater from shrimp farming on the water quality of mainstream rivers that affect the local fish communities, and the influence of improper fishing practices that lead to the depletion of local fish stocks. This study also aimed to propose strategies to improve the local fisheries management for more environmentally responsible productions. Two mainstream surveys were developed to obtain data, i.e. environmental surveys for the assessment of water quality and pollution impacts on fish communities; and people interviews for the examination of fisheries management related to shrimp farming and fishing practices. The findings were used as a baseline to develop appropriate strategies for improving the management in terms of promoting sustainable productions both in shrimp farming and capture fishery industries and protecting the environment. This study found that shrimp farming, especially intensive farms have contributed to water pollution in mainstream rivers in Can Gio, and in turn the water pollution has adversely affected the local fish communities. The waters adjacent to the intensive farms were contaminated with high concentrations of organic matter. The number of fish species reduced and tolerant species appeared at higher proportions in these areas. Many improper practices in shrimp farming and fishing as well as weaknesses in government management were addressed to be the key issues leading to environmental pollution and fish depletion. The proposed strategies focused on improving the management at both government and community levels. Promoting community-based management was suggested as a key to the success in fisheries management in Can Gio.

A study of 'gan', 'can' and 'beginnen' in the Northern English and Scots of the late fourteenth and the fifteenth centuries

Gardela, Wojciech January 2017 (has links)
In Middle English and Scots, instances of gan and can behave differently from etymologically related beginnen in that they are mainly, or exclusively, found with the plain infinitive and with a non-ingressive meaning. They also occur in narrative verse (rhymed and non-alliterative), where they have a metrical, intensive-descriptive or textual function. All of this suggests that gan and can are more advanced in the divergence of their development towards auxiliation than the verb beginnen. Earlier studies mainly concentrate on the meaning and/or function of gan and can in verse (Wuth 1915, Beschorner 1920, Funke 1922, Mustanoja 1960, Kerkhof 1966, Visser 1969 and Brinton 1981; 1983; 1988 amongst others), whereas investigations by Brinton (1981; 1988; 1996), Ogura (1997; 1998; 2013) and Sims (2008; 2014) address the divergence in the development of this verb and its variant in terms of grammaticalization, but with references to Middle English in general. Studies by Los (2000; 2005), on the other hand, deal with the grammaticalization of onginnan and beginnan with the plain infinitive in Ælfric’s works. However, no studies have been carried out on whether gan and can, as well as beginnen develop differently in terms of grammaticalization in the ‘English’ of the six northern counties of England and of Scotland in the late 14th and the 15th centuries, conventionally referred to as Northern Middle English and Early Scots, respectively. With the aid of Northern Middle English and Early Scots texts from computerised corpora (The Helsinki Corpus of English Texts, The Innsbruck Corpus of Middle English Prose and The Teaching Association for Medieval Studies, as well as The Helsinki Corpus of Older Scots and A Linguistic Atlas of Older Scots), this study looks into whether: a) gan and can, as well as beginnen differ with respect to their morphological paradigms, in view of what we know about grammaticalization and the development of invariant forms? b) these verbs differ with respect to their complements, in view of claims in the literature that the more grammaticalized variant takes the plain infinitive; and c) gan and can are a development from onginnan and aginnan, originally expressing ingression but shown in the literature to have undergone semantic bleaching in Old English and in early Middle English period? This study shows that in Northern Middle English and Early Scots, gan and can display characteristics of grammaticalization, while beginnen participates in global language changes affecting the category of the verb in ME and Scots.

Liten displaymodul

Jonsson, Michael January 2006 (has links)
The purpose of this Master Thesis is to analyze what suitable hardware platforms there are on the market in order to build a low price control and information system for mobile applications, called small display module. The thesis will be underlying material for making a decision for further development. The result of the thesis consists mainly of a Windows CE kernel and a schematic for a CPU card, on which it would be suitable to build the display module. Another major part of the report is the introduction of different techniques that could be of interest when designing a processor based system. The processor architecture that was chosen is the x86. This is mainly due to CPU availability, but as well as the fact that existing software can be used on the display module without any significant modifications. Many interesting processors were sorted out because they hade a very high price on the development kits from the manufacturer and because the possible production volume can not manage this cost. The development kit makes the development easier and can be used for performance tests before prototypes are built.

Utvärdering av sårbarheter hos moderna fordon

Warling, Peter, Mehmeti, Armend January 2018 (has links)
