Využití aktivizujících metod v předmětu ekonomika / The use of activation methods in teaching economicsDlouhá, Martina January 2015 (has links)
Abstrakt In my thesis I deal with the activation methods. The aim of this is to explain the students given topic using several activation methods with following test, which should give feedback of the results achieved. I wanted to research whether the activation methods affect students knowledge. I also wanted to know the students opinion on those methods and find out, if they are used by teachers of economics. I divided the diploma thesis into two parts, theory and research. In the theoretical part I describe the education on schools of economics, forms of organization, educational methods mainly the activation ones. In research I describe the procedure of my experiment. The crucial part is the analysis of the didactic tests results, which was done by the students and it is completed with the questionnaires results. I point out the impact of using the activation methods in teaching and the benefits for students, who gain the practical knowledge.

The present study aimed to investigate the construction and implementation of institutional evaluation in three public institutions Childhood Education of Campinas/ SP, in possible approach to the evaluation policy of the municipality. For this purpose, there was a data triangulation: I) via desk research (documents of the institutions, of the educational system and specific legislation); II) via informants (interviews and observation of local subjects); and III) via literature (books and scientific articles). The Elements, Processes, and Outcomes of Collaborative Massive Open Online Course Development TeamsStengel, Paul Joseph January 2020 (has links)
This dissertation explores the experiences of nineteen individuals assigned to six collaborative Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) development teams across four university sites. Based on an analysis of these semi-structured interviews and process artifacts, findings reveal that collaborative MOOC development teams are composed of members with cross-campus affiliations who possess distinct knowledge, skills, and attitudes that—when combined with specific resources—facilitate the interdependence needed to effectively collaborate on MOOC curriculum. This research suggests that process behaviors that cultivate empathy and expedite trust among members positively mediate states that emerge from the diversity of power and affiliations commonly found on MOOC teams. Further, these process behaviors and emergent states are found to have an impact beyond the MOOC itself, on faculty behaviors in the classroom, staff behaviors with regards to future curriculum collaborations, and institutional acceptance and promotion of cross-campus collaborations with regards to online learning and collaborative curriculum development. While existing MOOC research has focused on the historical, pedagogical, and technical aspects of MOOC curriculum development, this dissertation contributes to a better understanding of how MOOC teams effectively collaborate to develop curriculum that leverages existing scholarship. This research therefore has implications for advancing scholarship on effective teams, collaborative curriculum design, online learning, and MOOCs, as well as informing practical recommendations for stakeholders engaged in strategically composing and working within collaborative curriculum development teams.

The Effect of Membership in the Council of Adult and Experiential Learning on the Quality of Prior Learning Assessment Services in Senior Level Institutions Accredited by the Southern Association of Schools and CollegesWalker, Lila Bowden 05 1900 (has links)
Over the past 20 years there has been a dramatic increase in the number of adults enrolling in institutions of higher education across America. Adult students presently constitute nearly one-half of all undergraduate enrollment. This influx of adults has generated interest in nontraditional programs, including external degree programs, degree completion programs, and prior learning assessment programs. The purpose of this study was to determine if an association existed between membership in the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) and quality in prior learning assessment services as provided by senior level institutions in the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accrediting region. CAEL has been a pioneer in developing adult degree programs and commissioned Urban Whitaker in 1989 to define the standards for quality in such programs. A survey instrument utilizing these standards, principles, and procedures as the criteria for quality prior learning assessment services was mailed to a random sample of CAEL member and non-member institutions in the Southern Association accrediting region. Member and non-member responses were compared utilizing the Chi-square statistical analysis to determine any differences.

Use of Role and Power in Parent-Teacher Relationships: Perceptions from the Parent PerspectiveTaylor, Sonja 03 June 2015 (has links)
Studies have increasingly shown that more parent involvement leads to higher academic achievement for kids. However, studies have also shown a difference in the ability of parents to effectively further their children's interest based on social class. Middle-class parents are described as being able to activate their cultural and social capital in order to further their interests, while working-class and low-income parents have been described as frustrated and marginalized- lacking the ability to activate their capital in a way that benefits themselves and their children.
The intent of this study is to explore how parents understand their role in the parent teacher relationship to look for evidence that social class might not be as much of a factor as previous literature suggests when it comes to activation of cultural capital. Building on a study that found some working-class parents were able to activate cultural capital through their conversations with teachers, I wanted to find out if how parents understand and perform their role would offer more insight into how cultural capital is activated. Based on the premise that how parents understand their role in conversation with teachers might be able to affect their ability to activate their cultural capital, I conducted a qualitative interview study to explore how parents of 5th grade elementary students view their role in the parent-teacher relationship.
Results of the study show that parents gained confidence in their role through conversations with teachers and that they also gained an increased ability to collaborate and engage in partnership with their childrens' teachers. Confidence in role and collaboration with teachers were seen as indications of activation of cultural capital. In this study, parents were able to activate their cultural capital by having collaborative relationships with teachers 9 out of 10 times, regardless of class background.
I draw conclusions that parents in my study developed the ability to activate cultural capital regardless of social class background. Because of this, parents' experience of their relationships with teachers might not be as dichotomous as previous research suggests. My findings suggest that frequency of communication is an important mechanism that contributes to successful parent-teacher relationships. Communication that was particularly helpful included informal conversations and email. The use of email in parent-teacher conversations in particular is an area that deserves further study.

The Relationship Between a Program of Career Education and the Career Maturity of Eighth-Grade StudentsDean, Doyle W. (Doyle Wayne) 08 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between career education and the career maturity of eighth-grade students as measured by the Attitude Scale and the Competence Test of the Career Maturity Inventory. A posttest only experimental design was used for the study. The subjects were selected from a population of eighth-grade students in a suburban school district in north central Texas and randomly assigned to treatment and control groups. The treatment group had a career education class for forty-five minutes each day for eighteen weeks. The control group selected an additional elective. Multiple t tests were used to test the hypotheses of the study. The hypotheses were grouped into the areas of maturity of career attitudes, maturity of career competencies, sex and career maturity, school and career maturity, and teacher and career maturity.
