Introductory handbook for College of Architecture lighting system / College of Architecture lighting system.

Whitted, Roger K. January 1985 (has links)
The purpose of this handbook is twofold. First, it is to be used as a guide for maintenance personnel when they have to deal with the lighting system. Whi 1 e the 1 i ghti ng 1 oads are typical of those in any large building, the control functions and equipment operation require some specific information for proper performance. Second, it can be used by the person in charge of scheduling to gain a greater understanding of how the system works. Although a detailed understanding isn't necessary, it is helpful to know what is out there and why it does what it is supposed to do.The reason for the development of this handbook is that with all of the literature produced by the manufacturer there was no single source, or starting point, that explained the whole package. There is a great deal of information in each of the various publications and with this handbook one should easily be able to utilize it. In order to use this book most effectively one should have the manufacturer's documents on hand for reference as they are referred to frequently. In addition the flow charts enhance one's ability "to know where you are” when using the terminal for data entry. / Department of Architecture

Orientador: Paulo Sérgio Scarazzato / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Engenharia Civil, Arquitetura e Urbanismo / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-16T11:50:27Z (GMT). / Abstract: Light is important for humans, because their physical attributes not only allow the vision, but also evoke its metaphorical meaning in Philosophy and Sciences, especially in Architecture. Attention to both daylighting and artificial lighting systems plays a key role in the energy efficiency of buildings, the well-being and health of its users. Nowadays Brazil has a voluntary certification program for buildings, on initial deployment, which will become obligatory in the near future, aiming at the regulation and classification of building energetic efficiency, including lighting and air conditioning. So, this research made a diagnosis of daylighting and artificial lighting joint the libraries of the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), at the University Campus Zeferino Vaz, to make recommendations in accordance with the specific needs of such spaces and following the guidelines of the referred voluntary certification program. The survey included cadastral registers, measurements in situ with the aid of the technique of HDR images, questionnaires and the development of a project with the help of computer simulations. The literature review showed the state of the art concerning the aspects of the subject studied. In Phase I, the cadastral survey allowed to find out the current conditions of all libraries on the campus. In phase II, measurements in nine libraries helped to understand the quantitative aspects of illuminance and luminance distribution in the visual field. The application and tabulation of the questionnaires allowed obtaining the users impressions about such spaces. In phase III, the development of a project in one of the libraries, with the aid of computational simulations, permitted the evaluation of some proposals for the refurbishment of the daylighting and artificial systems. The choice of samples for Phases II and III reckoned the heterogeneity of the spaces of the campus. The results of this survey will be formally conveyed to the managers of the university, for their deliberations about its implementations as part of the strategies concerning the improvement of supporting infrastructure. / Mestrado / Arquitetura e Construção / Mestre em Engenharia Civil

Estudo comparativo entre dois modos de conexão de conversores CC-CC empregados em lâmpadas de LED para sistemas de iluminação pública / Comparative study between two connection modes of DC-DC converters employed in LED lamps for street lighting systems

Gobbato, Cassio 22 September 2017 (has links)
This work presents a comparative study between two different connections of DC-DC converters used in LED lamps for street lighting. One of the connections is based on the technique known as Reduced Redundant Power Processing and the other one is the series connection of static converters. The SEPIC and buck-boost converters were implemented, respectively, in the power factor correction and power control demanded by the load stages. Both of the converters operate in the discontinuous conduction mode of current. Prototypes of 70 W were developed for the two connection types. The experimental results obtained shows the performance of each connection type. Both of the connections are in compliance with the IEC 61000-3-2 Class C standard and the practicals recommendations IEEE Std 1789-2015. A discussion is realized about the advantages and disadvantages of each connection type.

Sistema de iluminação pública baseado em drivers modulares para lâmpadas de LED / Street lightning system based on LED modular drivers

Souza, Ithalo Hespanhol de 27 April 2017 (has links)
The use of LED based luminaires is a tendency for both indoor and street lighting, due to its high durability and efficiency. Despite these desirable features propel the use of LEDs on lighting systems, the lifespan of its drivers can be lower than the LED itself. Such drivers are usually based on topologies that make use of electrolytic capacitors, which present low durability, mainly in high temperatures. Therefore, this work proposes a LED luminaire for street lighting based on modular drivers. This approach intends to increase the lifetime of the drivers, as well as maintain the luminaire in operation even with one or more modules failure. The design of the electronic drivers and the technique used for the mathematical modeling of the converters are presented. Furthermore, the obtained experimental results from a prototype with rated power of 50W (two modules with rated power of 25W each one) are presented.

Ljusrevolution : Effekter av elektrisk belysning i historiska byggnader / Light Revolution : How Electric Lighting Affects Historical Buildings

Savioja Nilsson, Jonna January 2022 (has links)
The introduction of electric light was a revolution in several areas of life. It ́s impact on building interiors is not to be underestimated. The aim with changes in lighting is often to improve access or function in a building. The light environment, however, is important even for the feeling and experience of an interior and can improve its historical readability. The purpose of this paper is to study lighting in historical buildings from a conservation point of view. What effects do the transition to electric lighting have on historical buildings and how does the light environment differ from the historical ways of lighting? Lighting design follows restauration ideologies as well as trends and the technical development. Knowledge of historical lighting is important for the conservation of historical buildings and their heritage values. At the same time, we need to be aware of the ways our modern perspective on light and lighting affects lighting design even in historical buildings. Material for the study consists of literature and research on light and lighting from several disciplines: anthropology, archeology, lighting design, conservation and architecture. Part of the material was collected through field studies in four historical interiors. Methods used for this study were field studies and photo documentation together with studies of archive material and relevant literature. The study shows that appropriate lighting can enhance cultural heritage values in a building and even have a value on its own. By respecting the original character of a building and applying some basic principles of historical lighting it is possible to create a historically truthful light environment that improves the experiential value of the building. A clear valorization of a light environment can lead to more favorable lighting solutions and help preserve several more cultural heritage values in a building.
