Vliv množství pájky a izotermálního stárnutí na vodivost pájeného spoje / Solder Joint Conductivity - Influence of Solder Volume and Isothermal AgingMach, Ladislav January 2012 (has links)
The master thesis analyses electrical conductivity of lead-free solder joints. The test method design for monitoring the electrical conductivity of the soldered joint is described in the practical part. Simulated BGA package with four pin (BGA4) is used for experiments. Tested PCBs are subjected to isothermal aging and current load. During isothermal aging is measured electrical conductivity and optical microscope is used for intermetallic layer (IMC) growth observation. Two types of surface finish (OSP and ENIG) are used for tests and three diameters of solder terminal balls (solder alloy SAC405). The influence of the ratio area connection / solder volume (ratio S / V) on lead-free solder joints conductivity was evaluated.

The purpose of this thesis is to expand the scope of the source-sink potential (SSP) method originally proposed by Ernzerhof in 2006. The SSP model allows the computation of the qualitative conductance of molecular electronics devices (MEDs). In the first part of this work, the SSP model will be improved by including the description of interaction between the strong electromagnetic field and the MED. Recent experiments have shown that molecules could strongly interact with surface plasmon of polaritons (SPPs). These interactions will create so-called dressed states that can be used to control the conductance of MEDs. In the second part of this work, the SSP model will be augmented by including electron-nucleus interactions to describe the inelastic current. In this model, the electron-nuclueus interaction will be account for with the help of the harmonic approximation and incorporated into the hamiltonian non-pertubatively. Analytical formulas will be derived that will allow one to understand the impact of physical parameters on the conductance of MEDs. Lastly, the impact of the parity and time symmetry breaking of the SSP matrix hamiltonian will be studied and related to change in the spectral density and in the eigenfunctions of the MEDs.

CEMOVIS, développements méthodologiques et étude ultrastructurale de la cellule HT29 : De la cellule aux nucléosomes / CEMOVIS methodological developments and structural study of HT 29 cell : from cell to nucleosomsLemercier, Nicolas 23 March 2012 (has links)
The ultrastructure of HT29 cells (human epithelial adenocarcinoma cell line) was studied by CEMOVIS (Cryo-Electron Microscopy of Vitreous Sections) with a special emphasis on chromatin organization in the cell nucleus. We proposed methodological improvements for this technique:- We first developed a grid holding micromanipulator to facilitate both cryosections collect and deposition on carbon-coated TEM grids.- We also developed new metallic thin films (to replace carbon-base supports) to enhance the adhesion of cryosections on their support. The TiO2 thin films that we produced and analysed by electron microscopy (high resolution imaging, EELS and chemical mapping) seem to be an interesting alternative to carbon films for the deposition of cryosections. Their adhesive properties could be due to Titanium high electric conductance at low temperature (although this relation has not been clearly demonstrated yet).In HT 29 cells, we indentified cell organites (nucleus; cytoskeleton filament bundles, multilamellar bodies) in situ. Selected imaging conditions provide for a high enough resolution to visualise the two membrane leaflets. In the cell nucleus, we observed striated patterns separated from 2.7 to 3.5 nm that we assume to be DNA molecule turns wrapped around the histone protein core. Compared with the dense phases formed in vitro by nucleosome core particle in solution, our images suggest that nucleosomes are locally ordered in chromatin. This observation is discussed regarding the chromatin polymeric models.

Converter transformers of HVDC transmission systems connect HVDC and HVAC systems. To ensure a reliable operation during the entire lifetime, their oil-paper-insulation system must be designed appropriately. An optimized dielectric design demands a fundamental understanding of the dielectric stresses as well as a reliable modeling of the insulation system both under operating voltages and under superimposed, transient overvoltages.
Hence, in this work the dielectric behavior of the oil-paper-insulation system is investigated. Based on dielectric tests the investigations are performed under DC voltage stress and a composite voltage stress of a DC voltage in stationary conditions superimposed by a lightning impulse voltage.
The comparison of numerical calculations using a charge-carrier-based approach according to Poisson-Nernst-Planck (PNP) with breakdown experiments clarifies the dielectric stress of the oil-paper-insulation system. Furthermore, the comparison with results determined by the established, resistive-capacitive calculation models shows that it is mandatory to take the influence of the charge carrier accumulation into account.
The presented results, which were obtained at oil-paper-insulated arrangements which represent the dielectic stress of real arrangements, show the influence of the charge carriers accumulating at interfaces or in the paper insulationon on the dielectric stress. The results confirm the calculations and the assumptions according to the charge-carrier-based model as well. Due to the charge carrier accumulation, the highest dielectric stress occurs in the mineral oil and not in the paper insulation. In contrast, the findings obtained assuming an ohmic conductivity would results in a higher dielectric stress of the oil-paperinsulated arrangements. Furthermore, polarity effects in homogeneous but asymmetrical, paper-insulated electrode arrangements or the influence of the surrounding oil in the test vessel demonstrate the effects of the charge carriers.
Under composite voltage stresses it is also shown, that the applied superimposed voltage as well as the fast polarity reversal does not lead to a higher dielectric stress of the arrangements compared to the pure DC voltage stress. Commonly used calculation models would determine higher stresses due to the fast polarity reversal instead.
Consequently, the applicability of the charge-carrier-based PNP calculation model is verified qualitatively in the presented investigations. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the simplified assumptions of the commonly used calculation models cannot simulate the dielectric stresses under DC voltage stress and under the investigated superimposed voltage stresses. Hence, the determination of the dielectric stresses of oil-paper-insulation systems under DC voltage stress according to the commonly used calculation models assuming an ohmic conductivity does not correspond to the current state of research.
