Esta dissertação de mestrado versa sobre dois discursos do ateniense Isócrates: Contra os Sofistas e Elogio de Helena, compostos por volta de 390 a. C. O estudo do primeiro trata da filosofia de Isócrates; o do segundo, da maneira como o gênero epidítico é utilizado pelo autor. Há ainda um último comentário sobre o uso de moldes discursivos presente na estruturação de seus discursos. Segue-se, ao final, a tradução em português acompanhada de notas de ambos os discursos. / This dissertation deals with two speeches of the Athenian Isocrates: Against the Sophists and Helen, composed around 390 a. C. The analysis of the first speech deals with the \"philosophy\" of Isocrates; the second, the way the epideictic genre is used by the author. There is also a comment on the use of certain discursive molds that belong to the structure of his speeches. Finally, is presented a translation into Portuguese with notes of both speeches.

Nesta pesquisa, apresentamos uma nova tradução da Germania de Tácito para o português brasileiro, acompanhada de um estudo literário, no qual nos ocuparemos, primeiramente, do estabelecimento do gênero literário deste texto e dos problemas e dificuldades próprios deste e, depois, da construção do êthos da população germânica na obra, considerando preceitos do gênero epíditico da retórica e conceitos relativos à ekphrasis / In this research, we present a new translation of Tacitus Germania to Brazilian Portuguese. It is preceded by a literary study that firstly investigates the establishment of the literary genre of Tacitus text and the problems that arise from it, and then, the construction of the êthos of the Germanic people in Tacitus work, considering rhetorical precepts from the epideictic genre and concepts related to ekphrasis

O presente trabalho tem por objetivos: em primeiro lugar, realizar uma transcrição modernizada do tratado Antiguidade da Arte da Pintura, sua nobreza, divino, e humano que a exercitou, e honras que os monarcas fizeram a seus artífices, 1696, de Félix da Costa Meesen; em segundo lugar, apresentar uma análise de elementos retóricos do texto, para isso levando em consideração a tradição de leitura à época de Félix da Costa Meesen. O tratado é um dos primeiros documentos a reivindicar a criação de uma Academia de Artes em Portugal, o que de fato só aconteceria em meados do século XIX. Para assegurar seus argumentos, Félix da Costa aplica no discurso do tratado escolhas elocutivas a partir do gênero epidítico, como por exemplo, quando opera lugares-comuns de Plínio, o Velho. Esses lugares-comuns elevam a Pintura a altos patamares. O tratado conta atualmente apenas com uma publicação: uma edição fac-similar seguida de uma tradução para o inglês sob a organização de George Kubler, de 1967, por meio da Yale University Press, da Universidade de Yale - EUA. A versão digitalizada do tratado está disponível no site Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library da Biblioteca da Universidade de Yale. O códice é de difícil acesso a demais leitores que não possam compreender manuscritos seiscentistas. Justificamos, assim, nossa transcrição modernizada porque acreditamos que ela fará com que esta obra de Félix da Costa, de grande relevância por abordar a tratadística sobre a Arte da Pintura, ganhe mais consulentes. / The present work has as its objectives: firstly, to carry out a modernized transcription of The Antiquity of the Art of Painting, its nobility, the divine, and the human who practiced it, and the honors that monarchs made to their artificers, 1696, by Felix da Costa Meesen; Secondly, to present an analysis of the rhetorical elements of the text, taking into account the reading tradition at the time of Félix da Costa Meesen. The treatise is one of the first documents to argue for creation of an Academy of Arts in Portugal, which in fact, only happened in the mid-nineteenth century. Félix da Costa uses eloquent choices from the epideictic genre in the discourse of the treatise to ensure his arguments, specially, when he operates in Pliny the Elder commonplaces. These commonplaces elevate the painting to high levels. The treatise currently has only one publication: a facsimile edition followed by an English translation under George Kubler organization, 1967, Yale University Press, Yale University - USA. The digitilized version of the treatise is available on Yale University Library website at Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library. The book is difficult to access for readers who can not understand seventeenth-century manuscripts. Esta dissertação de mestrado tem como objetivo principal a apresentação de uma tradução para a língua portuguesa do discurso conhecido como Panegírico de Trajano de Plínio, o Jovem. A presente tradução foi realizada tendo como base o texto latino estabelecido por R. A. B. Mynors (1964), e com consulta a outras edições, tais como M. Dury (1938), R. Moreno Soldevila (2010) e D. Lassandro (1992), entre outras. Além disso, este trabalho apresenta um breve estudo introdutório sobre o Panegírico de Trajano no qual se discutem questões relativas à elaboração do discurso e seus propósitos, bem como o seu enquadramento no gênero epidítico. Dessa forma, pretende-se abordar o modo como o autor relaciona a tradição romana da gratiarum actio com o tipo de encômio dirigido aos imperadores conhecido como basilikos lógos, o que, em grande parte, contribuiu para que este texto de Plínio se tornasse a primeira gratiarum actio a ser preservada para a posteridade. / This master\'s thesis has as main objective the presentation of a translation into the Portuguese language of the discourse known as Panegyric of Trajan of Pliny the Younger. The present translation was performed based on the Latin text established by RAB Mynors (1964), and in consultation with other editions, such as M. Dury (1938), R. Moreno Soldevila (2010) and D. Lassandro (1992), among others. In addition, this paper presents a brief introductory study on the Panegyric of Trajan in which questions are discussed concerning the elaboration of the discourse and its purposes, as well as its framing in the epidictic genre. This way, it is tried to approach the way in which the author relates the Roman tradition of the gratiarum actio with the type of enkomion directed to the emperors known like basilikos logos, which, in great part, contributed to this text of Pliny became the first Gratiarum actio to be preserved for posterity.
