An Active Camera Calibration Method with XYZ 3D Table

Tseng, Ching-I 12 July 2000 (has links)
The technology of machine vision is board applied in many aspects such as industrial inspection, medical image processing, remote sensing and nanotechnology. It recovers useful information about a scene from its two-dimension projections. This recovery requires the inversion of a many-to-one mapping. But we usually lose some important data for not exactly correct mapping. It might occur from lens distortion, rotation and perspective distortion, and non-ideal vision systems. Camera calibration can compensate for these ill-conditions. In this thesis I present an active calibration technique derived from Song¡¦s research (1996) for calibrating the camera intrinsic parameters. It requires no reference object and directly uses the images of the environment. We only have to control the camera acting a series translational motion by the XYZ 3-D table.

Identification systems for ground units, the solution to avoid fratricide?

Eklund, Jonas January 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is to shed light on possibilities and limitations regarding different systems for identification of contacts on the battlefield, mainly for the purpose of reducing fratricide. The essay will also shed light on if the introduction of systems for identification on the battlefield is the best one single method that will reduce fratricide. The purpose is that the reader will achieve an understanding of how different systems for target identification will reduce the risk for fratricide. In addition the possibilities and limitations of other systems in the field of combat identification will also be addressed. The essay describes different events where fratricide has occurred and connects these events with the possibilities and limitations of the identification systems described and how these systems could have reduced the risk for fratricide. The essay also describes different systems for target identification and combat identification.

Marés internas semi-diurnas na plataforma continental amazônica / Semidiurnal internal tides on the amazon continental shelf

Watanabe, Gilberto Akio Oliveira 26 February 2014 (has links)
Internal waves are oscillatory motions that occur within the density stratified ocean. The ones with tidal frequency are then called internal tides or baroclinic tides, and are, on several locations around the planet, responsible for strong fluxes that affect several processes, like sediment transport, mixing processes and primary production. In such a strong environment as the Amazon Continental Shelf (ACS), located at the northern brazilian coast, it\'s stratification changes considerably with time and space, accordingly with the balance between the several forcing variables present. In this region, some authors suggest that internal tides occur, however, none research have been made about it on the ACS. That being said, we propose a study on internal tides on the ACS. As we hypothesize that internal tides occur, we look forward to characterize it\'s behavior and verify it\'s intermittency on the ACS. To do so, the data collected during the AMASSedS project (A Multidisciplinary Amazon Shelf Sediment Study) is going to be analyzed. In order to characterize it, two different method were applied to obtain the baroclinic field. The first method was the definition of a modeled-based barotropic current of the ACS obtained on the literature. The second method was the application of Empirical Orthogonal Functions in order to split the field on statistical modes of variability and analyze them separately. Our results indicate that internal tides on the ACS occur preferentially on the semi-diurnal frequency and it\'s generation is intimately connected to river discharge. Also, the analysis of the salinity anomaly field indicates that internal tides are responsible for part of the variability of the later on the surface on mid-shelf.

Between text and stage: the theatrical adaptations of J.M. Coetzee's Foe

Naidoo, Kareesha January 2016 (has links)
Magister Artium - MA / This thesis will critically analyse two theatrical adaptations of J. M. Coetzee's Foe (1986). Primarily, this thesis will be seeking to understand the complex relationship of the primary text to its adaptations more closely, regarding them not only as second-order versions or interpretations of the novel, but also to consider the way they may retrospectively construct new readings and understandings of the source text. This thesis will not only consider the way in which Foe is used in the adaptations but also how Robinson Crusoe (1719) influenced the adaptors and adaptive process. Theories of adaptation will be discussed, drawing extensively on work by Linda Hutcheon (2006) and Robert Stam (2005). One of the key ideas in adaptation theory is that adaptive fidelity to the source text is neither possible nor desirable, but that adaptation is a more complex, multi-layered intertextual and intermedial interplay of fictional material. One of the aims of this thesis is to ask whether or not Foe can be successfully transposed to the stage. This thesis will serve as a close analysis of the two theatrical adaptations, focusing on the beginning and endings of the respective adaptations. This research will contribute a new approach to Coetzee studies and to Foe in particular by exploring how these texts can lead to a broader understanding of Coetzee's work and the way it crosses into different media.

Johansson, Hanna January 2018 (has links)

Kategorie "vlastní a cizí" v polských hiphopových textech / "Friend and foe" category in polish hip-hop texts

Rakhmanov, Alexey January 2020 (has links)
1 The aim of the thesis is the reconstruction of the linguistic image of "Friend and foe" category on the basis of the selected hip-hop texts. The theoretical part of the work will be devoted to the basic aspects of the linguistic image of the world theory and also the history of the hip hop music genre of in Poland. Material for the analytical part of the thesis will be texts of selected artists of the older (e.g. Stare Miasto, Kaliber 44, Liroy, Wzgórze Ya-Pa 3), and also the younger Polish hip-hop generation (e.g. O.S.T.R., Donatan, Małpa, Taco Hemingway). Using their content analysis, the author tries to reconstruct the "Friend and foe" category image based on subcategories, such as "My place", "My person", "My life ideals" as well as "internal enemy" and "external enemy". Texts from different time periods will be analysed, which will allow to answer the question of how and whether the reconstructed image changes over time.

ALTERING A LEGACY: REWRITING DEFOE IN J.M. COETZEE’S FOE

Bailey, Leigha K. 10 1900 (has links)

Much of the critical discourse on J.M. Coetzee’s Foe does not fully investigate its relationship with Daniel Defoe’s texts, despite Foe’s intimate relation with them. This thesis offers a postcolonial reading of Coetzee’s Susan Barton, Cruso and Friday against Daniel Defoe’s original characters Roxana, Robinson Crusoe and Friday. Chapter one discusses Roxana-as-feminist, female colonizer, representative of her sex and Amazon and compares her to Barton. It reveals the tendency of critical discourse to attempt to ‘know’ Barton as they ‘know’ Roxana, by categorizing her, and reveals how Coetzee’s character frustrates attempts to define her. The second chapter addresses eighteenth-century knowledge of race and how it differs from present day, which offers an alternate reading of Robinson Crusoe and complicates its use as a colonial handbook. I also discuss masculinity in Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe as an individual characteristic Coetzee alters into something that can be appropriated. His characters are not masculine but can wield phallic symbols such as the pen and the knife to reveal power as systemic rather than individualistic. The final chapter offers an in depth postcolonial reading of Friday and interrogates critical discourse’s tendency to read him as representative of ‘the colonized,’ or as a colonial trope.
/ Master of Arts (MA)
