Mechanical Behaviour of Single-Crystal Nickel-Based Superalloys

Leidermark, Daniel January 2008 (has links)
In this paper the mechanical behaviour, both elastic and plastic, of single-crystal nickel-based superalloys has been investigated. A theoretic base has been established in crystal plasticity, with concern taken to the shearing rate on the slip systems. A model of the mechanical behaviour has been implemented, by using FORTRAN, as a user defined material model in three major FEM-programmes. To evaluate the model a simulated pole figure has been compared to an experimental one. These pole figures match each other very well. Yielding a realistic behaviour of the model.

Differential Six-Port Transceiver Design and Analysis from a Wireless Communication System Perspective

Umar, Muhammad, Yasir, Umar January 2012 (has links)
In modern telecommunication there is the demand of high data rates using wideband component design. FCC has introduced the UWB spectrum for high speed data communication. UWB systems have attracted the attention of researchers.  Six-port transmitters and receivers are strong candidates for UWB systems and research is being done on six-port modulators and demodulators. In this work an effort is made to compare the performance of conventional single-ended six-port transmitter and receiver with differential six-port transmitters and receivers.    In this thesis, single ended and differential six-port correlators are designed on 7.5 GHz using Agilent Inc. EDA tool ADS and their performance is evaluated. A new wide-band differential six-port correlator is implemented using rat-race couplers and double-sided parallel strip-line phase inverter. The designed six-port correlators are used for 8-PSK modulation and demodulation. For transmitter-receiver system, mixed analog-DSP designing is used. The integral components of the system are evaluated individually and behavioral modeling is used to evaluate the complete transmitter-receiver system. The single-ended and differential systems are evaluated for noise-figure, dynamic range, bit error rate and data rate.

The developing strategy of Kaohsiung after the two sides of the Taiwan Strait joining WTO- The prevention mechanism for interchanged crime in the cross strait

YAN, NING-TSUNG 02 September 2003 (has links)
Abstract Since the two sides of the Taiwan Strait have separately admitted to join WTO (World Trade organization ), the diversity and complexity of economy and trade between Taiwan and mainland china will constantly developing, its influence not only changed the economic structure but bring the series debates and problems, crime is not except. Due to the existence of extremely high dark figure of crime in the cross strait, the characters of transnational crime: low visibility, high complexity can be easily observed but hard to control in Taiwan and china. The cross strait relationship still can¡¦t be advanced for long due to ¡§One China Policy¡¨, but the derivative problems of intercommunion, like guns, drugs, gangs, stow-away, smuggling, marine piracy, newly technical economy crime and transnational organized crime become more and more dangerous ,indeed post a threat to both sides of the Taiwan strait, even begin spreading to the global world. Though the cross strait sign ¡§kin-men degree¡¨ in 1990,the sovereignty dispute and re-president,Teng-hui Lee¡¦s cornell universal-trip in America still obstruct the cross strait to construct the related Matual Legal Assistancein Criminal Matters, in other way, duo to the constantly blockading in diplomacy from China, it become difficult for Taiwan joining the International Matual organism and Matual legal criminal Matters mechanism, undoubtedly, effectively controlling the variable types of transnational crime will be more difficult than before. The researcher team, with the cooperation method, refer the ¡§increasingly develop Kaohsiung and policy after cross strait joining to WTO¡¨ as our theme, another research theme will be aimed on the criminal problem prevention mechanism about the economy and trade intercommunion between the cross strait, combined the different kinds of area(tourism, policy ministry, commerce, building industry¡K. ) the team members used the NGT(Nominal Group Technique) for researching; Beginning present the conference on time since January2002,our team officially invite fourteen experts in industry, authority concerns, studios, populace and media presenting twice NGT interactive studying via interactive management then choosing the ten strategies, producing strengthen construction relation geography in November twenty-sixth and December third 2002 and trying to gain ¡§joining the international police organism & signing the legal assistance criminal matters with China¡¨ specific strategy, elaborating with document analysis and conclusion for interactive proving with NGT result.

The Return of the 1950s Nuclear Family in Films of the 1980s

Maltezos, Chris Steve 01 January 2011 (has links)
Abstract In the 1980s the cinematic nuclear family flourished again after the self-explorative 1960s and turbulent 1970s. This thesis explores the portrayal of the idealized American family in film between the 1950s and 1980s. The 1955 film Rebel Without a Cause reflects the 1950s cinematic family model. My investigation includes the role of the father figure and the bonds in intergenerational relationships. During the early 1980s, films such Ordinary People and ET: The Extraterrestrial reflect the need to reevaluate the 1950s ideal nuclear family. My examination of these films continues to include the importance of the father figure and bonds between child and parents along with contemporary elements such as the use of psychiatry and rise of single-parent households. These movies' redefined portrayals of the idealized nuclear family represent the shifting dynamics of modern society in terms of single-parent households and highlighted importance of intergenerational relationships.

Juvenile desires : the child as subject, object, and mise-en-scène in contemporary American culture

McKittrick, Casey Douglas 26 January 2011 (has links)
Scholarship on the cultural status of the child in America has taken diverse and fruitful forms, yet there exists a significant ellipsis within theories of filmic spectatorship regarding cinematic children. This study engages the child figure's relation to the cinematic apparatus and analyzes spectator responses to the child's presentation as a desiring subject and desired object. Within contemporary American culture, the child figure generates at once a mise-en-scène of desire and a mise-en-abime of potential stigmatization, self-abjection and shame. The vexed relation to the image of the child that characterizes the contemporary adult citizen and, more pointedly, the adult spectator, is a symptom of the contradictory discourses of childhood at play in contemporary American media and within its political bodies. The Columbine shootings, the murder of child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey, the Catholic Church scandals, many well-publicized child abductions, and countless occurrences over the past decade have produced a climate of moral panic over children's endangerment. Yet, more than ever, the eroticization of children's bodies has inundated cinematic and other media productions, generating anxieties within the adult spectator concerning the propriety of gazing at children. Juvenile desires suggests that the dissonances produced by the contradictory signposts of moral panic and sexual objectification have too often given rise to a homophobically polarizing model of the adult spectator: one the one hand, the ostensibly heterosexual spectator whose relation to the child image is aesthetically distanced, moral, and nostalgic; and on the other, a perverse, likely homosexual spectator whose relation is libidinal, regressive, and genitally oriented. As a theoretical intervention and a reception study, this dissertation examines the term pedophilia as one both culturally over-determined and critically under-investigated. The deployment of the term pedophilia has the rhetorical effect of reducing the complex relations sustained among adult spectators and children to a space of inarticulate abjection or criminality. The dissertation proposes that a deconstructive queer theory can unsettle the recalcitrant association of pedophilia with homosexual pathology, and thereby afford a complex and nuanced account of the roles cinematic children play in generating visual and narrative pleasure across gendered and sexually oriented subject positions. / text

Nanolaminated Thin Films for Thermoelectrics

Kedsongpanya, Sit January 2010 (has links)
Energy harvesting is an interesting topic for today since we face running out of energy source, a serious problem in the world. Thermoelectric devices are a good candidate. They can convert heat (i.e. temperature gradient) to electricity. This result leads us to use them to harvest waste heat from engines or in power plants to generate electricity. Moreover, thermoelectric devices also perform cooling by applied voltage to device. This process is clean, which means that no greenhouse gases are emitted during the process. However, the converting efficiency of thermoelectrics are very low compare to a home refrigerator. The thermoelectric figure of merit (ZTm) is a number which defines the converting efficiency of thermoelectric materials and devices. ZTm is defined by Seebeck coefficient, electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity. To improve the converting efficiency, nanolaminated materials are good candidate.   This thesis studies TiN/ScN artificial nanolaminates, or superlattices were grown by reactive dc magnetron sputtering from Ti and Sc targets. For TiN/ScN superlattice, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and reciprocal space map (RSM) show that we can obtain single crystal TiN/ScN superlattice. X-ray reflectivity (XRR) shows the superlattice films have a rough surface, supported by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Also, TiN/ScN superlattices grew by TiN as starting layer has better crystalline quality than ScN as starting layer. The electrical measurement shows that our superlattice films are conductive films.   Ca-Co-O system for inherently nanolaminated materials were grown by reactive rf magnetron sputtering from Ca/Co alloy target. The XRD shows we maybe get the [Ca2CoO3]xCoO2 phase, so far. The energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) reported that our films have Al conmination. We also discovered unexpected behavior when the film grown at high temperature showed larger thickness instead of thinner, which would have been expected due to possible Ca evaporation. The Ca-Co-O system requires further studies.

Dialogues intertextuels et bibliothèques imaginaires dans Don Quichotte de la démanche de Victor-Lévy Beaulieu et L'Ange des ténèbres d'Ernesto Sábato

Rosso, Karine 12 1900 (has links) (PDF)

Matematinių gebėjimų ugdymas dirbant su mokiniais, turinčiais specifinių pažinimo sutrikimų / The development of mathematical abilities working with pupils who have specific cognitive disorder

Navickienė, Vilma 16 August 2007 (has links)
Darbo tikslas yra specialiosios metodikos, skirtos dalybos gebėjimų ugdymui, efektyvumo nustatymas, dirbant su mokiniais turinčiais specifinių pažinimo sutrikimų. Iškelta hipotezė, kad nežymiai sutrikusio intelekto mokiniams skirta metodika padės lavinti mokinių, turinčių specifinių pažinimo sutrikimų dalybos gebėjimus. Tyrime dalyvavo aštuoni Šiaulių miesto „ Juventos“ vidurinės mokyklos penktos, šeštos ir septintos klasės mokiniai. Respondentai atrinkti konstatuojamojo tyrimo metu. Tyrimas vyko nuo 2005 sausio mėnesio iki 2006 vasario mėnesio. Ugdomojo tyrimo tikslas patikrinti doc. 2. Eksperimentinio tyrimo metu mokiniai, turintys specifinių pažinimo sutrikimų, išmoko spręsti dalybos iš dviženklio skaičiaus uždavinius, taikyti įvairius pagalbos sau būdus. Tam įtakos turėjo dalybos iš dviženklio skaičiaus mokymas laikantis nuoseklumo... [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / The aim of the work is to check the efficiency of teaching pupils of fractionally disordered intellect how to divide numbers by double-figure numbers. The hypothesis is that the methodology intended for pupils of fractionally disordered intellect will help to develop the divisional abilities of pupils having specific cognitive disorder. Eight pupils from the fifth, sixth and seventh forms of Šiauliai “Juventa” secondary school participated in the research. The respondents were selected during the declarative research. The research took place from January in 2005 till February in 2006. During the experiment the efficiency of assoc. prof. Štitilienė‘s (1982) prepared teaching method (the method is intended for pupils of fractionally disordered intellect) working with children having specific cognitive intellect was checked. Quantitative and qualitative research methods were chosen in order to estimate the efficiency of the methodology mentioned above. The most important conclusions of the empirical research are as follows: 1. During the declarative research it came out that some pupils can not apply multiplication to division. All respondents are unable to realize numbers as a whole, that is why they divide numbers not as incomposite numbers but they divide numbers into parts, i.e. tens divide by tens, ones by ones. 2. During the experimental research pupils having specific cognitive disorder learnt to divide numbers by double-figure numbers and to help themselves. It was... [to full text]
