No. of bitstreams: 1 LuzianyACF_DISSERT.pdf: 949661 bytes, checksum: 3ac9543ca6f7961fb8c420391d30326b (MD5) Previous issue date: 2011-07-08 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cient?fico e Tecnol?gico / In this work, a pneumatic dryer has been designed and assembled in laboratory scale in order to study and evaluate configurations more efficient for application in drying of important materials of Northeast region in Brazil. The equipment was tested with drying of corn and rice grains, in conditions of temperature and air velocity at 80 oC and 35 m/s, respectively. For this type of dryer, it is recommended to work at temperatures above 200 ?C and air velocity with higher dynamic pressure. However, even under operating conditions below what it is recommended, the results obtained with the pneumatic dryer were satisfactory. In addition, experiments of drying were performed by using a cabinet dryer (batch dryer) under the same conditions used in the pneumatic dryer. Flash one curves for the corn were fitted satisfactorily by applying of the Lewis model, while a better agreement was found for rice by using the Page model. The data obtained with both drying processes allowed to compare the performance between pneumatic and batch dryers. In respect to drying rate, the pneumatic dryer presented a similar performance to the batch dryer during processing with corn and a superior performance to the last one during processing with rice. Therefore, it was possible to verify that the pneumatic dryer assembled in this preliminar study can be applied for different materials and under different operating conditions / Este trabalho tem como objetivo principal ? concep??o, montagem e opera??o de um secador pneum?tico do tipo flash com o prop?sito de avaliar novas configura??es de secadores, apresentando uma import?ncia regional no contexto da produ??o agr?cola de gr?os.

The modulation of visual perceptual latencies by motor actions.

Hamilton Haddad Junior 10 November 2008 (has links)
Organisms are able to distinguish between sensory stimuli from the environment and sensory stimuli they cause. This process depends on neural and cognitive mechanisms that link actions to perceptions generated by these actions. This work aimed to investigate the interaction of action and perception in the temporal domain. In five psychophysical experiments, we have assessed the modulation of action in the flash-lag effect and in tasks involving temporal interval estimations. Our results showed that the planning and execution of a voluntary motor action are capable of reducing both visual perceptual latencies and temporal interval estimations. This reduction increases when the sensory consequences of motor actions are presented on the fovea and when a delay is injected between the action and the stimuli caused by it.

Webbplats för kursen EBM : Evidence Based Medicine / Website for the course EBM : Evidence Based Medicine

Ivander, Christin, Olsson, My January 2005 (has links)

MyMusic – e-shop för musik i Flash / MyMusic – e-shop for music files in Flash

Wejsflog, Mikael January 2006 (has links)
This is the end report of my final exam at Medieteknik. It covers the planning, work process and review of a Flash based web application that I set out to do. The goal was to create a user friendly, interactive e-shop with embedded functionality for playing music, displaying rich media content and researching possible payment solutions, to enable buying music files online. The project involved creating the user interface, the programmatic functionality of a Flash client (an SWF file). Also, setting up an Apache HTTP Server and establishing a working “bridge” between the Flash client and the web server with Flash Remoting components and AMFPHP. Furthermore, a web interface for adding music files and data to the server was created, built in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL. The project consisted of researching and implementing the technologies and techniques involved by iteratively collecting information, reading, testing, programming and evaluating the end results. Also, object oriented design and programming principles was applied in the development process. The software development methodologies – Agile development and extreme programming was practiced. The purpose was to gain experience in developing large scale client/server web applications dealing with creative processes, project planning, project management and problem solving. And in the longer perspective make use of the experience and knowledge in future projects.

Distribution cellulaire de la protéine de la nucléocapside NCp7 du VIH-1 et caractérisation de son interaction avec la protéine nucléolaire hNoL12 / Cellular distribution of the nucleocapsid protein of HIV-1 NCp7 and characterization of its interaction with the nucleolar protein hNoL 12

Zgheib, Sarwat 08 December 2015 (has links)
The Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1 (HIV-1) nucleocapsid protein (NC) plays a major role in the different steps of theviral lifecycle under its two forms; either as a domain of the polyprotein Gag (NC-Gag) in the late phase or as a matureNCp7 protein in the early phase. In order to better understand the role of the mature form in the viral cycle, we searchedfor new NCp7 specific cellular partners and identified the nucleolar protein hNoL12 which is known to be involved inthe maturation of ribosomal RNAs. The NCp7/hNoL12 interaction was confirmed by co- IP, FRET-FLIM, and yeast twohybrid. The interaction domain was localized between a.a. 22 and 61 on hNoL12; which corresponds to its putative 5’-3’-exonuclease domain. We developed an assay to monitor this activity and found it to be specific of single strand RNA.Finally, the cellular knockdown of hNoL12 resulted in a significant decrease in the infection by a pseudovirus mimickingthe early phase of the infection, emphasizing the functional involvement of hNoL12 in this phase. In a second project, wewere interested in the fate of the viral incoming NCp7 in the infected cells, after reverse transcription. We thus generatedlentiviral vectors composed of NCp7 fused to a tetracysteine tag enabling its specific labeling with the fluoresceinderivative FlAsH. We then studied by confocal microscopy, the intracellular distribution of NCp7 containing viralparticles in conditions close to the infection. Our results showed that an important proportion of the NCp7 moleculesdissociates from the PIC during its transport in the cytoplasm. However, the loss of NCp7 is a late step of this processand seems to take place close to the nucleus suggesting that the dissociation of the capsid occurs at the nuclear membranejust before the nuclear entry of the PIC. The third project concerns the development of antiviral inhibitors targetingNCp7. We worked on the vectorization and the characterization of the antiviral properties of a peptide selected in vitrofor its ability to inhibit the NCp7 chaperone activity. The inhibitory activity of the vectorized peptide on infection ofHeLa cells by a HIV-1 based lentiviral vector was found deceiving.

Thermal and Flash Photolysis Studies of Ligand-Exchange Reactions of Substituted Metal Carbonyl Complexes of Cr and Mo

Awad, Hani H. (Hani Hanna) 05 1900 (has links)
Thermal and flash photolysis studies of ligand-substitution reactions of cis-(pip)(L)M(CO)_4 by L' (pip = piperidine; L, L' = CO, phosphines, phosphites; M = Cr, Mo) implicate square-pyramidal [(L)M(CO)_4], in which L occupies a coordination site in the equatorial plane, as the reactive species. In chlorobenzene (= CB) solvent, the predominant species formed after flash photolysis and a steady-state intermediate for the thermal reaction is cis—[(CB)(L)M(CO)_4], for which rates of CB-dissociation increase with increasing steric demands of coordinated L. Rates of CB-dissociation from trans-[(CB)(L)M(CO)_4] intermediates, formed after photolysis but not thermally, exhibit no observable dependence on the steric properties of the coordinated L.

Novel Quantum Dot Based Memories with Many Days of Storage Time: Last Steps towards the Holy Grail?

Bimberg, D., Mikolajick, T., Wallart, X. 10 December 2021 (has links)
The feasibility of the QD-Flash concept, its fast write and erase times, is demonstrated together with storage times of 4 days at room temperature. The storage time of holes in (InGa)Sb QDs embedded in a (AlGa)P matrix can be extended by growth modifications to 10 y. Tunneling structures were recently demonstrated to solve the trade-off conflict between storage time and erase time. A QD-NVSRAM is suggested to become the first commercial application.

Kvantifikace T1 pro preklinické MRI / Quantification of T1 for Preclinical MRI

Dvořáková, Lenka January 2014 (has links)
T1 mapping of myocardial tissue is important for diagnostics of myocardial fibrosis. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging of small animals is challenging due to high heart and respiratory rates. Pulse sequences for T1 mapping are proposed in this thesis based on inversion recovery FLASH and Intragate FLASH. The sequence IR FLASH was compared to the reference sequence RARE on a static phantom. Both sequences were applied for measuring the myocardium of a rat. For T1 quantification a software in Matlab was developed. Using this software, T1 maps of rat myocardium were calculated.
