Previous issue date: 2013-09-19 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This paper identifies the relationship between liberal principles and autonomy Brazil, with
emphasis on neoliberal reforms adopted in the 1990s. Investigates the relationship between
Brazil and such precepts from the industrialization of the country, realizing the historical
unfolding of this process and the actors involved. Utilizes critical view of ECLAC and
dependency theory to relate world events in sync with the national events in order to
understand the influence between both. Underscores the neoliberal reforms implemented from
the Brazilian democracy, when there was the explicit adoption of the national model for the
management, who gave new dimensions to the autonomy of the country on the world stage.
Builds an understanding of autonomy in favor of national development as opposed to the
condition dependent and underdeveloped provided by the neoliberal model adopted.
Understand, then, that neoliberalism, as it was applied in Brazil, binds to decisional autonomy
in that generates conditions of external interference in vital for the national welfare. Notes that
Brazil's relationship with liberal precepts is old and therefore difficult to be overcome
immediately to the adoption of a political-economic strategy focused on developing fully. / O presente trabalho identifica qual a relação entre os preceitos liberais e a autonomia
brasileira, com ênfase nas reformas neoliberais adotadas na década de 1990. Investiga a
Ressalta as reformas
neoliberais implementadas a partir da redemocratização brasileira, quando houve a adoção
explícita do modelo para a gerência nacional, que deram novos contornos à autonomia do país
no cenário mundial.
desenvolvimento

Vliv zvolených metod privatizace na efektivnost firem se zvláštním zřetelem na firmy privatizované zahraničním kapitálem / Evaluation of influence of privatization methods on effectiveness of firms with special emphasize on firms privatized by foreign capitalŘežábková, Martina January 2012 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is an evaluation of influence of privatization methods on performance and effectiveness of firms which were directly privatized especially to the hands of foreign holders. Within its theoretical framework, the thesis performs crucial aspects and the historical development of the entire privatization process. Nonetheless, the core of the theoretical part of the study contains the argument for usage a different privatization forms in terms of options for foreign investors' participation. The main subject to the practical part of thesis is the quantitative analysis of a broad sample of companies privatized by both Czech and foreign capital. Subsequently, the qualitative analysis extends the robustness of the outcomes. The basic criteria for valuation of enterprises performance are the indicators of profitability, leverage and productivity. The main outcome of the thesis is the verification of the hypothesis that enterprises privatized by foreign capital reported higher performance at the all examined sub-periods covering the period 1995 -- 2005. At the end of the examined period, the trend of performance convergence between Czech and foreign owned firms took place. Conclusions are supported by the relevant and broad database and therefore it may be accepted as a significant contribution to the research which refutes the statements of some politicians and citizens about the negative influence of foreign capital on Czech economy.

A Theoretical Note on Sector-specific FDI Inflow in Developing Economies and the Real Exchange RateMandal, Biswajit, Bhattacharjee, Prasun 01 May 2020 (has links)
Using a hybrid of the Heckscher–Ohlin model and specific factor model of trade, this article considers the phenomenon of FDI inflows only in the exportable sector of developing economies. We investigate the impact of such capital flow on factor prices and the real exchange rate (RER) in the host country. Our results indicate that the exportable production expands while both the non-traded good production and the return to the factor specific to the non-traded good decrease, consequent upon an inflow of capital specific to the exportable sector. The effect of such inflow of foreign capital on the RER is unambiguous and it increases. JEL Codes: F1, F21, F31

International Political Economy of External Economic Dependence and Foreign Investment Policy Outputs as a Component of National Development Strategy: Nigeria 1954-1980Ighoavodha, Frederick J. O. (Frederick J. Ofuafo) 12 1900 (has links)
This study examined the effects and expectations of external economic dependence on foreign investment policy outputs with particular reference to the Nigerian experience between 1954 and 1980. Three basic kinds of external economic dependence were studied: foreign investment, the penetration of the Nigerian economy by foreign capital through the agency of the multinational corporations (MNCs); foreign trade, a measure of the Nigerian economy's participation in the world market; and foreign aid (loans and grants), a measure of Nigeria's reliance on financial assistance from governments and international financial inst itutions. For the most part, the level of Nigeria's economic dependence was very high. However, economic dependency is not translated into changes in foreign investment policy in favor of the foreign investors in Nigeria as is predicted by the dependency paradigm. The Nigerian case casts doubt on the dependency paradigm as a framework for fully explaining factors that may determine foreign direct investment policy changes that occur in a less developed Third World country. In other words, the dependency paradigm has a limited explanatory power; there is a factor independent of the economic factor operating out of the control of global capitalism (the center of the center in alliance with the center of the periphery); and that factor is the political process in Nigeria. The web of the Nigerian political process involves the various aspects of its internal functioning such as the manner in which needs, interests and demands are conveyed from the individuals and groups in the country to those performing state duties. Thus, Nigerian policy makers were more influenced by those elements than pure economic considerations treated in isolation.
