Trädgårdsterapi vid olika sjukdomstillstånd

Plogen, Anders January 2021 (has links)
Horticultural Therapy is an activity where the participants are working in and experiencing a therapeutic garden with the support of a multidisciplinary team with the aim to treat various illnesses. In Sweden the method is mainly used to treat mental health problems such as depression, fatigue and schizophrenia. The objective of this paper was to examine the effects of horticultural therapy on different illnesses. To reach the objective a review with a systematic approach was performed. A key word search was made in the databases PubMed, APA Psychinfo and Swemed+ which resulted in ten experimental studies that has been used for analyses in this paper. The quality of the studies has been examined and the results have been evaluated and compiled. The included publications examine palliative care, schizophrenia, dementia, stroke, pain, depression, fatigue and cardiopulmonary diseases. Several of the studies have methodological shortcomings which limits their quality and evidential value.  There is no evidence that horticultural therapy could be used to improve the quality of life in cancer patients in palliative care. Neither has it been shown to perform better than conventional treatments in the rehabilitation of stroke or to improve the mood of persons with dementia.  However, horticultural therapy had significant positive effects on the symptoms of schizophrenia, depression and chronic pain and contributed to the rehabilitation of depression and fatigue. The positive effects indicate that horticultural therapy could potentially contribute to promoting health and treating disease. This could motivate further studies and a continued development of the treatment.

Exploring the sustainable development of garden tourism with Chinese characteristics

Nie, Mengxue January 2021 (has links)
Both garden ontology and tourists influence garden tourism, and while many countries around the world have researched garden tourism, China's garden tourism market lacks development. This study aims to find a sustainable and distinctive development path for garden tourism development in complementary developed China. This study uses primarily qualitative research to interview visitors to Chinese garden tourism sites, using visitor experience factors and international case studies to explore the development of Chinese garden tourism. The study results show that Chinese gardens are characterized by developing essential elements: discovering tourism values, increasing infrastructure development, innovative management, and creating a and connotation of sustainable development. Thus, the study project will fill the gap in the development of garden tourism in China and provide a creative direction for the development of garden tourism in China.

The Flourishing Epiphany of “The Garden Party” : A Narratological Investigation of the Concept Epiphany in Katherine Mansfield’s Short Story “The Garden Party”

Olsson, Felicia January 2016 (has links)
This essay examines the protagonist of Katherine Mansfield’s “The Garden Party” (1922), Laura, and her experiences of events that are made insignificant by the rest of the narrative. Gérard Genette’s narratological theory and the concept of epiphany is put forward in the theroertical framework in order to preform this investigation. Morris Beja’s and Liesl Olson’s studies of the epiphany in modernist literature assists the investigation. Thus, with the support of Genette’s narratological theory and the concept of epiphany, this essay examines epiphanic moments in “The Garden Party”. It will also study how these moments transfer on to the reader through multimodal techniques. This argument is supported by Joseph Conrad’s preface to The Nigger of the ‘Narcissus’.

Garden cities of today : En applicering av Garden cities-idealet i en nutida svensk kontext

Andersson, Ina January 2016 (has links)

Explaining alien plant invasions using Amani Botanical Garden in NE Tanzania

Dawson, Wayne January 2009 (has links)
Understanding why some introduced alien plant species become invasive whilst others fail is a fundamental question in ecology, not least because of the considerable ecological and economic damage caused by invasive plants globally. Identifying factors that drive alien plant invasions can inform efforts to predict the nsk of invasion by an introduced plant species. This would allow prevention of introduction of high risk aliens, as well as targeted management of species already introduced that pose the latest threats to the ecolocal integrity of host ecosystems. However, generalisations among the findings of comparative plant invasion studies have been limited by a lack of control of confounding variables such as propagule pressure, time since introduction and phylogeny, a lack of knowledge of introduced species that failed to establish, and inconsistent use of terminology defining the invasion process. This thesis used Amani Botanical Garden (ABG) in the East Usambara Mountains of Tanzania, as a comparative case study system to assess the relative ability of multiple factors to explain invasion success of species introduced to a tropical forest ecosystem.

Orientação ao jardim: andanças por caminhos impermanentes / Orientation to the garden: journeys on impermanent paths

Helena Alexandrino 27 April 2017 (has links)
In this project, I intend to perform series of drawings, prints and paintings with the garden as the central theme. To accomplish it, I will look for references in my personal memories, particularly those related to the small garden of the suburban house of my childhood, and in the gardens designed by poets and artists, in what they may have of small, modest, delicate and unstable. This impermanence or ephemerality inherent at this theme will be reflected during the invention and production of the works, through the exploration of the instability and of the possible limits and borders, passages and paths, separations and approximations between painting, drawing and printmaking.
