Combinação de doses de potássio e magnésio na produção e nutrição mineral do capim-Tanzânia / Potassium and magnesium rates combinations for Tanzania grass production and mineral nutrition

Consolmagno Neto, Dylnei 24 February 2006 (has links)
Tanzânia grass use in Brazilian pastures has been improved, and there is a need for more knowledge on its mineral nutrition in order to increase forage productivity. The objective of this research was to obtain information for this grass related to the combined supply of potassium and magnesium, through the evaluation of number of tillers and leaves, leaf area, plant tops and roots dry matter production, roots lenght and surface, SPAD value, leaf chlorophyll concentration, cationic macronutrients concentrations in plant tissues and visual symptoms characterization. An experiment was carried out in a greenhouse by using nutrient solution in 3.6 L pots containing ground quartz, from September to November 2004, at Piracicaba, São Paulo State, Brasil. An incomplete 52 factorial was used, which resulted in 13 combinations among potassium and magnesium rates, in mmol L-1: 0,4K/0,05Mg; 0,4K/1,35Mg; 0,4K/2,65Mg; 3,2K/0,7Mg; 3,2K/2Mg; 6K/0,05Mg; 6K/1,35Mg; 6K/2,65Mg; 8,8K/0,7 Mg; 8,8K/2Mg; 11,6K/0,05Mg; 11,6K/1,35Mg; 11,6K/2,65Mg, in a randomized block design, with four replications. Plants were first harvested 46 days after seedlings transplanting to the pots, and harvested again 28 days after the first harvest. At each harvest plants tops were separated into emergent leaves, newly expanded leaf laminae, mature leaf laminae and culms plus sheaths. After the second harvest the roots were collected by passing tap water through 0.25 and 1.00 mm screens. Potassium and magnesium rates combinations highly influenced the proportion of potassium, magnesium and calcium in plant tops in both growth periods, and the roots dry weight and length. These nutrients rates combinations also determined forage yield and concentrations of calcium and manganese in the newly expanded leaf laminae at the second harvest. Potassium rates significantly changed the number of tillers and leaves, leaf area, and zinc concentration in the newly expanded leaves at both growth periods, whereas in the first growth influenced forage yield, concentrations of calcium, copper, iron and manganese in the newly expanded leaf laminae, and in the root surface. Magnesium rates resulted in changes in SPAD values and chlorophyll concentrations in the two plant growths but, at second growth, promoted changes in leaf area, in root surface, and in concentrations of copper, iron and zinc in the newly expanded leaf laminae. Maximum responses of Tanzania grass were found when potassium was supplied between 8.4 and 10.9 mmol L-1 and magnesium between 1.7 and 2.3 mmol L-1 and when potassium contributed between 53 and 64 % and magnesium about 20 % to the total concentration of potassium, magnesium and calcium in plants tops. Visual symptoms of potassium and magnesium deficiencies in the plants were only observed with low rates supply of these nutrients.

Estratégias narrativas em O tambor: o diálogo entre a literatura e o cinema / Narrative strategies in O tambor: dialogue between literature and cinema

Pedro, Elisandra de Souza 20 August 2009 (has links)
Debates on the adaptation of literary works to the cinema have already surpassed moral judgments related to fidelity and treason, finding a more objective approach. It implies, for example, the comparison between the movie adaptation and the original work focusing on intertextuality and using, as points for analysis, the selection of literary material made during the filmic realization process, the visual achievement of the literary text, the update of some of the themes brought out by the writer and the narrative focus, among others. This work aims at analyzing the narrative structure of Günter Grass novel The Tin Drum (Die Blechtrommel) and Volker Schlöndorffs homonymous movie by observing the complex articulation of Grass narrative focus and the directors rendering of that structure, which results in different ways of perceiving and interpreting both the narrating character and the universe he is placed in.

"Técnicas de geoprocessamento aplicadas à análise morfométrica" / GIS techniques applied to morphometric analysis

Carlos Henrique Grohmann de Carvalho 05 May 2004 (has links)
This work aims on developing and adaptation of morphometric analysis in Geographic Information Systems. Free softwares GRASS-GIS and R statistical language were used as main applications. Studied morphometric parameters were hypsometry, slope, aspect, swath profiles, drainage and lineament density, surface roughness, isobase and hydraulic gradient. The study area is located in the eastern border of Quadrilátero Ferrífero (MG), and has distinct geomorphological units: a mountainous relief to west (Serra do Caraça), separated by a scarp with hundreds of meters of fall from fluvial dissected terrains, with a flat plateau in its central portion, the Chapada de Canga. The main element for morphometric analysis is the Digital Elevation Model (DEM), which can be interpolated form contours or scattered points. There is also the possibility of utilize NASA' s DEMs, freely available via internet. The proposed methodology deals mainly with basic GIS operations, like conversion between raster and vector, simple mathematic operations on raster maps and interpolation of discrete values into continuous surfaces. Trend-surface analysis was carried out o verify the possibility of use the method for morphotectonic studies. Polynomial surfaces from 1st to 6th degree were adjusted; the statistical significance of each surface and the significance of increasing polynomial degree were verified with analysis of variance. Produced morphometric maps allow identification of structures probably related with present-day landscape configuration. Residuals maps for most representative trend-surfaces keep good correlation with inferred structures. The proposed methodology can be adapted to the variety of GIS packages available in the market. The use of free and open-source softwares guarantees access to everyone, and its increasing popularization opens new perspectives in this field.

Nitrate and ammonium proportions for aruana and marandu grasses nutrition and production.

Jorge Henrique da Silva Santos 27 August 2003 (has links)
A greenhouse experiment was carried out in the Soils and Plant Nutrition Department, at ESALQ-USP from February to May 2002. The objective was to evaluate the response in relation to proportions of nitrate and ammonium in the nutrient solutions of Panicum maximum cv. Aruana and Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu. Plants grew in a ground quartz substrate. The experiment was set in complete randomized block design, with four replications. Nitrogen at 210 mg L -1 was studied in proportions 100/0; 85/15; 70/30; 55/45; 40/60 and 25/75% of nitrate and ammonium, respectively. A complete Sarruge (1975) solution was modified to supply nitrogen in the studied proportions. Plants were harvest twice and plant tops was separated in emerging leaves, lamina of recently expanded leaves, lamina of mature leaves and steams plus sheaths. After the second harvest, roots were taken from the substrate and washed. During the growth period the nitrate reductase activity and SPAD units were determined and at the plant harvesting the number of tillers and leaves were counted and leaf area was measured. Dry matter yield was obtained in the oven, dry plants and the concentration of total nitrogen, nitrate and ammonium were determined in the ground sample. Roots were evaluated for the total surface and length. Increases in the number of tillers and leaves were found with the 85/15 to 55/45 proportions of nitrate/ammonium. Leaf area and plant tops dry weight positively responded to the nitrogen supplied form 100/0 to 55/45 as nitrate/ammonium. Nitrate and ammonium applied in the 40/60 and 25/75 proportions showed the highest total nitrogen concentration in stems plus sheaths and the highest ammonium concentration in the lamina of mature leaves. Grasses production was decreased by the use of nitrate/ammonium at 25/75 proportion. The inclusion of ammonium as part of the nitrogen supply in the Sarruge’s nutrient solution is beneficial to the studied forage grasses.

Regrowth of Festuca hallii (Vasey Piper) and Stipa curtiseta [(A.S. Hitch.) Barkworth] following defoliation on a hummocky landscape in Central Saskatchewan

Pantel, Andrew William 20 December 2006
A 4-year study was conducted on the Missouri Coteau in the Mixed Grassland Ecoregion of Saskatchewan to determine the effects of mowing to a 7.5 cm stubble height on the growth of Festuca hallii (Vasey) Piper and Stipa curtiseta (A.S. Hitch.) Barkworth. Green standing crop (GSC), dead standing crop (DSC) and above ground net primary production (ANPP) were compared to an unmowed control after a single mowing in April, May, June, July, August, September, October or November on 5 landforms including north aspect-concave-slope, north aspect-convex-slope, south aspect-concave-slope, south aspect-convex-slope and level upland. Mowing reduced GSC, DSC and ANPP with reductions varying among months of mowing and among landforms. Green standing crop, DSC and ANPP of F. hallii were greatest on the north aspects and least on south aspect-convex slope and ranged from 2 to 122 g m-2, 3 to 121 g m-2, and 8 to 122 g m-2, respectively. Mowing reduced GSC of F. hallii for 1 to 11 growing season months and DSC for 1 to >11 growing season months. Mowing in May or November reduced ANPP of F. hallii for 1 growing season, while mowing in other months reduced ANPP for 2 growing seasons. Green standing crop of S. curtiseta, ranging from 3 g m-2 to 55 g m-2, was least on the north aspects and greatest on the south aspect-convex slope and was reduced 1 to 5 growing season months following mowing. Mowing after June reduced DSC of S. curtiseta(5 to 58 g m-2) for 1 to 10 growing season months, and ANPP (6 to 64 g m-2) for 1 growing season. Generally, mowing reduced GSC, DSC and ANPP of F. hallii longer than S. curtiseta. Production of F. hallii- and S. curtiseta-dominated plant communities in the Northern Mixed Prairie will be maintained by providing rest periods between defoliation events based on the number of growing season months for F. hallii to recover production.

L'Hérault, Virginie January 2006 (has links) (PDF)

Aspects of shrub-grass dynamics on the Bogong High Plains (Subalpine), Victoria

Williams, R. J. January 1985 (has links)
The Bogong High Plains are a series of alpine and subalpine plateaux in NE Victoria. The vegetation of the High Plains consists of woodland, heathland, grassland herbfield and wetland communities. On the better drained sites, the transition from heath dominated communities to grass dominated communities is correlated with gradients of decreasing accumulation and persistence of snow, increasing exposure to wind and low minimum air temperatures, and decreasing steepness and rockiness of terrain. In many areas, shrubs have increased in cover and abundance, especially over the last 50 years. In particular, shrubs have invaded many areas of grassland, which has resulted in an expansion of both open heath and closed heath. The High Plains have been grazed by free ranging cattle each summer since the 1850's, and a primary aim of this thesis is to investigate the dynamics of heathland and grassland, and the impact that cattle grazing has upon these two vegetation types.
