Arkitektonisk kvalitet med fokus på skönhet – En fallstudie av hyresgästers betalningsvilja för skönhet i Garnisonen / Qualitative architecture with focus on beauty – A case study of tenants’ willingness to pay for beauty in Garnisonen

Kölborg, Emma, Mähler, Johanna January 2015 (has links)
In the Real Estate market there are a large number of commercial properties with offices. As a company or business you are faced with many decisions when choosing your office space. This bachelor thesis examines the concept of architectural quality with focus on beauty and its value for office tenants. The ambition is to find out if beauty is a decisive factor in the selection of office and if there is a willingness to pay for it. The selected question is studied in a case study of Garnisonen where tenants, a property owner and an architect are interviewed, all with connection to the examination object. Garnisonen is well suited as a case study because it is Stockholm's largest office complex with buildings from three different architectural eras. Tenants in the survey represent all architectural styles and have different industry affiliation. As a theoretical framework a literature study is presented where the importance of beauty for the individual, the built environment and society are treated, and also how the office can be used for branding purposes. The interviewees’ views of beauty and their opinions on beauty at work in Garnisonen are presented in the results. To find out if there is a willingness to pay for beauty the respondents get to put a value on beauty based on rental changes given in per cent. The analysis links the results with the theory chapter. The conclusion interprets the analysis and discloses the willingness to pay for beauty in Garnisonen with the aspiration to give an indication of a more general view of the value of beauty.

Högfors Lindståhl, Alicia January 2019 (has links)
During the excavation of the Warriors Hall in the viking town Birka fragments of a pointed shield boss were found. Through conservation and reconstruction it is examined in an attempt to categorize it. Its unusual characteristics sparks questions about its supposed type R565 and whether R565 is applicable due to its broad criteria which is done through an empirical study of European shield bosses, their diffusion and influences. This essay explores the possibilities of Rygh's type 565 suddenly appearing in the mid 900s as a change in the warrior’s equipment, fighting technique and influence following the raiding and Scandinavian colonization of Ireland and the British Isles.

Studenthuset \ Garnisonen – A Student Housing Project

Sanning, Alexander, Sanning, Sofia January 2023 (has links)
Envisioning an inner-city student housing project, adding life to an office-dominated area, and offering a publicly accessible roof terrace and open landscape park. We are proposing a student housing complex, composed of two 355-metres-long buildings with two and three floor levels, respectively, lifted up on pilotis, with corridor rooms and student apartments accomodating a total of 336 students and thus creating a bustling hub of human interactivity. For the proposal, we claim a large strip of land in the southern part of the property “Kvarteret Garnisonen 3” in Östermalm, Stockholm; the southern-most 15 % of the 84 000-square-metre property, previously used as a launching space for ceremonial marches, but currently used mostly for parking spaces and dog walking. Designing the large-scale structure to house many students, with each contributing to the added life to the space, and encouraging human interactions architecturally, by retaining the accessibility of the ground level by way of pilotis, as well as making the roof terrace open to the public, and offering several alternative routes between the levels of the buildings.

Beslag eller buckla? : En studie av platta järnfragment från hallhuset i Birkas Garnison

Bäckheden, Anna January 2006 (has links)

This paper deals with flat iron fragments from the Viking Age hall situated in Birkas Garrison, Adelsö parish in Uppland. The aim of the study was to identify which objects these flat fragments were originally derived from. The aim was also to discuss the function of these objects and their presence in the hall. This would hopefully increase the knowledge about the hall and the warriors who lived and worked there. In some cases the fragments form and placement in the hall has not provided enough information to classify the object from which they derived. Where it has been possible, a majority of the fragments has been interpreted as parts of chest mounts or shield buckles. The result of the analysis shows the possibility of a large chest having once stood in the southwest corner of the hall.

”Båtnitar” : Analys och konservering av järnnitar från Birkas garnison

Johansson, Harald January 2006 (has links)

The purpose of this paper is to analyse and discuss clinch-nails found at an excavation at terrace II in the Garrison of Birka, on the island of Björkö in Sweden. This type of clinch-nails is common in Viking age Sweden and is usually interpreted as coming from boats. The study will try to show that these types of nails could have been used in several kinds of wooden constructions. It will also show how the nails were made and what kinds of tools were used by the Viking smiths. The study has shown that this type of nails were used in several different types of wooden constructions such as boats, sleds, cart bodies, coffins, Birka's ramparts and buildings. Nothing confirms the use of rivets in Viking age buildings but the material from terrace II probably contains clinch-nails from the other categories. The largest portion of the clinch-nails comes from disused boats and from the ramparts surrounding Birka's hill fort Borg. The tools for making nails have not been found in the Birka Garrison.

Arbetsknivar : En funktionsanalys av knivar från Birkas Garnison

Fahlberg, David January 2012 (has links)
This paper deals with knives excavated in the Birka Garrison between 1997 and 2004, in a selection of 100 knives out of approximately 400. The aim is to measure and analyze the material to find out if certain elements in design points to a specific craft. Two groups of knifeblades can be seen, one with a convex bevel and one with a flat bevel of the blade. Considering osteological evidence, historical sources, and the main suitabillity of the knives, it is concluded that some of the flat beveled knives may have been used for crafting leather and fur, whereas the convex beveled knives are of an allround type.
