MARIA FERNANDA NUNES SLADE 09 August 2017 (has links)
[en] The increasing urbanization has generated large and medium cities, which without proper urban planning, face daily problems. Among these problems can be detach those linked to mobility, which shows that the current circulation model is expensive and impactful. Becomes evident the need to rethink the urban mobility, encouraging the use and evolution of quality and sustainable means of transportation, thus contributing to the cities development and to the population life quality. An option to improve the mobility is the tramway that operates by electricity force, induces urban renewal, and attracts other collective transportation modes and individual transportation users, thus contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive urban mobility implantation. In this way, in 2014 was started the tramway implantation project in the central zone of Rio de Janeiro, and in this work it is presented a construction work monitoring tool created and used in your execution. After the tool analyses it is possible to conclude that this model served its purposes, mainly in the planning stage, presenting a way to measure the construction progress easy to understand, with wide reach between the project managers and online, construction industry growing needs. Therefore, this study demonstrate itself current, when try to develop a tool that meets a construction industry demand, and innovative since few studies in this theme were realized in the tramway construction.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Renato Alessandro Rocha Santos.PDF: 5054326 bytes, checksum: 739f1115bab9b157f48eb56ca44d4c34 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2017-03-02 / Over the last decades the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) has been subject of research of several authors, mainly because of difficulties found in its optimization as well as its application in real-world situations. In the scientific literature there are several proposed solutions for the PRV using different optimization techniques. However, such solutions are rarely transformed into software tools that can be used by end users, for example, micro enterprises. Thus, the focus of the present work was to develop a Web computational tool for vehicle routing, called “SGRV  Sistema de Gestão de Roteamento de Veículos”, which uses Google Maps features and aims to meet the needs of micro enterprises. Therefore, initially it was conducted a literature search about solution methods for VRP, to support the choice of strategy based on genetic algorithms employed in SGRV. Then, a new bibliographic research was made with the purpose of finding free softwares for the VRP solution, which were object of analysis to mark out the development of the SGRV. For the development of this research was used the methodology Design Science Research. A qualitative evaluation of the SGRV was carried out by four microenterprises from different branches, that used the tool for a certain period and, in the end, answered six questions opened from semi-structured interviews. The experiences of these microenterprises were transcribed and the data obtained reveal the effectiveness of the SGRV in the management of its tasks related to the orders and deliveries of products.

Mapping Mueller : a post occupancy evaluation of transportation choices in a new urbanist community in Austin, Texas

Tepper, Rachel Cathryn 03 October 2014 (has links)
The 711-acre Mueller development is located just three miles northeast of downtown on the former site of the Robert Mueller Municipal Airport. Planned as one of Austin’s major transit-oriented New Urbanist developments, Mueller contains a pattern of pedestrian and bike friendly streets to encourage a range of transportation options for residents and visitors. Mueller is 30% complete and provides housing and jobs to over 3000 residents and 3000 employees. This professional report seeks to understand how current residents, employees, and visitors use the bike lanes, sidewalks, and roads in the Mueller community. To evaluate the transportation infrastructure, the author designed and coded a custom Google Maps survey that asked residents to draw common routes, points of interest, and points of concern related to their transportation choices. Field observations were conducted to verify and triangulate the information reported in the online survey. This study investigates whether the transportation principles for the development are or are not achieved by comparing the expressed principles of the development with the actual behavior reported and exhibited by frequent users. / text

The research was started by analyzing oscillation data from accelerometer. We had to keep in mind that there can be road bumps, pit holes, speed bumps and other road anomalies, car can accelerate quickly and break sharply or even crash into something, what would cause a sudden stop. In order to recognize events, different detection filters were applied on data. In addition to this, neuron network was used to recognize pit holes and speed bumps from all event flow. The results of event detection algorithms were compared with other scientist’s works. In order to represent results clearly, database was created holding coordinates of the road events and other information like time, etc. The results were represented using an application programming interface made-up by Google, which was really suitable solution in our case. The whole system was programmed using Java servlets, which allowed to gather data from database using SQL (Structured Query Language) queries. While trying to represent accelerometer data, we faced difficulties in representing these road events on the map, as GPS each time returned answer with small variation of coordinates. In this case, we... [to full text]

Censoring Maps in Google China? Visual Analysis through Foucault't Power/Knowledge

Karimbayeva, Zhanar 27 April 2010 (has links)
This thesis explores aspects of map censorship in Google China through a theoretical framework based on Foucault’s power/knowledge. Comparing results of content analysis of maps in Google Ditu in Google China and Google Maps in Google Dot Com, the thesis analyzes the degree of censorship of maps in the Google geoweb. My findings are a higher density of labeling in Google Ditu in comparison with Google Maps, the absence of VGI in Google Ditu, the limitation of zoom level at Google Ditu, and the absence of Street View in China. This thesis suggests possible explanations to differences in map information between Google Ditu and Google Maps.

GeoFort: Mobile Game for Motivating Physical Activity using Gamification and Augmented Reality

Eklund, Anton, Nygårds, Axel, Smeds, David January 2018 (has links)
With technology continuing to advance, a lot of everyday tasks are becoming easier to perform and less physically demanding. However, as a result of this, peoples lives are also becoming more sedentary. There is a need for motivating people to be more active. The project's solution to this problem was to develop a mobile game application which made use of Augmented Reality (AR) technology together with GPS to be able to set the outdoor world as the playing field. Along with using the science of gamification, we strove to create a gameplay that encourages players to continue to play. The resulting game makes the player move outdoors to be able to progress within the game. This feature of the game counteracts sedentary behavior. The results suggest that the use of gamification is an important aspect of making a game that players find fun and motivating. The AR technology was less important and needs more functions than just being able to view 3D-models.
