Application à la furtivité infrarouge et à la régulation thermique / Elaboration of thin films of nickel and manganese and rare earths oxides and characterisation of the thermo-emissive properties. Application to the infrared furtivity and the thermal regulation

Boileau, Alexis 12 June 2013 (has links)
Le manganite SmxCa1-xMnO3 est donc un bon candidat pour la régulation thermique et la furtivité infrarouge / NdNiO3 and SmxCa1-xMnO3 perovskites thin films were synthesized by magnetron co-sputtering process and the thermochromic properties have been studied in the infrared range. At first, the study of the NdNiO3 nickelate has established the timeliness to synthesise the perovskite phase using a subsequent annealing crystallisation in air at moderate temperature (550°C). We have demonstrated a competitive crystallisation between the thermochromic orthorhombic phase and a non-thermochromic rhombohedral phase largely influenced by experimental parameters: deposition pressure, layer thickness, annealing temperature... The presence of these two phases allowed to clarify more precisely the oxidation mechanisms involved during the deposition process and the reduction mechanisms occurring during the heat treatment. At the same time, the SmxCa1-xMnO3 system was synthesised also as thin films. The first step includes developing the experimental conditions to obtain stoichiometric films using two separate targets. After structural analyses (SEM, XRD), the electrical and optical behaviours of films were analysed using the four probe configuration and the FTIR spectroscopy versus temperature respectively. As result, the metal-insulator transition of the Sm0,5Ca0,5MnO3 compound is close to the room temperature and the film shows an interesting optical contrast in the near and mid-infrared ranges. The optical transmittance measurements in the visible-near infrared range were used to evaluate the optical gap dependence with temperature. At room temperature, the optical gap is close to 0.7 eV. Finally, SmxCa1-xMnO3 manganite is a good candidate for thermal regulation and infrared furtivity

Eke, Samuel 11 June 2018 (has links)
This PhD thesis deals the assessment method of the state of power transformers filled with oil. It brings a new approach by implementing classification methods and data mining dedicated to transformer maintenance. It proposes a strategy based on two new oil health indicators built from an adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). Two classifiers were built on a labeled learning database. The Naive Bayes classifier was retained for the detection of fault from gases dissolved in oil. A simple and efficient flowchart for evaluating the condition of transformers is proposed. It allows a quick analysis of the parameters resulting from physicochemical analyzes of oil and dissolved gases. Using unsupervised classification techniques through the methods of kmeans and fuzzy C-means allowed to reconstruct operating periods of a transformer, with some particular faults. It has also been demonstrated how these methods can be used as tool to help the maintenance of a group of transformers from available oil analysis data.

Macroscopic diffusion models for precipitation in crystalline gallium arsenide

Kimmerle, Sven-Joachim 23 December 2009 (has links)
Based on a thermodynamically consistent model for precipitation in gallium arsenide crystals including surface tension and bulk stresses by Dreyer and Duderstadt, we propose two different mathematical models to describe the size evolution of liquid droplets in a crystalline solid. The first model treats the diffusion-controlled regime of interface motion, while the second model is concerned with the interface-controlled regime of interface motion. Our models take care of conservation of mass and substance. These models generalise the well-known Mullins-Sekerka model for Ostwald ripening. We concentrate on arsenic-rich liquid spherical droplets in a gallium arsenide crystal. Droplets can shrink or grow with time but the centres of droplets remain fixed. The liquid is assumed to be homogeneous in space. Due to different scales for typical distances between droplets and typical radii of liquid droplets we can derive formally so-called mean field models. For a model in the diffusion-controlled regime we prove this limit by homogenisation techniques under plausible assumptions. These mean field models generalise the Lifshitz-Slyozov-Wagner model, which can be derived from the Mullins-Sekerka model rigorously, see Niethammer et al., and is well-understood. Mean field models capture the main properties of our system and are well adapted for numerics and further analysis. We determine possible equilibria and discuss their stability. Numerical evidence suggests in which case which one of the two regimes might be appropriate to the experimental situation.

Campi, Rodrigo Luz 19 February 2014 (has links)
The objective of this work was to do a modeling using the inference fuzzy system of the concentration of dissolved gases in insulating mineral oil getting from the physical-chemical results. Etude de commutateurs hyperfréquences bistables à base des matériaux à changement de phase (PCM) / Study of bi-stables microwave switch based on phase change materials (PCM)

Hariri, Ahmad 11 March 2019 (has links)
The work presented in this manuscript focuses on the design, simulation and realization of new microwave switches structures based on the integration of thin layers of innovative functional materials such as phase change materials (PCM) and phase transition materials. (PTM). The operating principle of these components is based on the change of resistivity present by these materials. We exploited the reversible resistivity change of GeTe of phase change materials family between the two states: amorphous with high resistivity and crystalline with low resistivity to realize a new structure of SPST switch. Then, we have integrated this switch structure on a new structure of DPDT (Double Port Double Throw) switch matrix based on phase change materials for application in satellite payload. We have used the insulatingmetal transition presented by the vanadium dioxide (VO2) of phase transition materials family to realize a new two terminals simple switch structure on a very wide frequency band (100 MHz–220 GHz).

Multiscale Relationships in Polymer-Based Heterogeneous Systems: Experiments and Simulations

Lionel, Flandin 27 October 2006 (has links) (PDF)
I have worked on many projects, but there are several things that they all had in common. First, nearly all projects involved searching for the structural parameters that governed the macroscopic properties of the polymers and composite materials. A second common denominator is that even though my work was performed in an “academic context”, the goals were targeted toward industrial needs. Lastly, the methods and procedures were similar; they were all based on experimental results obtained for various scales of measurement (see Fig. 1). Hence, multi-scale modeling was very useful and beneficial for these projects. The models developed (mainly numerical and sometimes analytical) were initially derived from experimental evidence and then validated and improved with further experimentation. The refined models provided an efficient means of: (i) optimizing the composites according to specific needs, (ii) better understanding the hierarchical relations between the different scales, (iii) controlling the micro or meso structure and thereby the macroscopic properties. This study of the relations between structure and properties was performed on a wide variety of physical properties and materials. However, the electric and dielectric properties of composites constituted the major- ity of it and will be presented in this report. The remaining property investigations provided supplemental but valuable information. This work often requires altering various conventional experimental techniques or using well-known techniques for new purposes. I also developed, when needed, several unconventional but necessary measurement techniques. This report contains two major parts which are separated according to the nature of the fillers: Part I : Conducting fillers. In the first part, the main interest both for application and fundamental point of view, is related to the changes in properties in the vicinity of the sharp percolation transition. After a brief introduction to the percolation theory, this part will be subdivided in three chapters: Chapter 1. presents a numerical method that correlates the mesostructure to the macroscopic electrical properties both in two and three dimensions. Chapter 2. will show that an external variable (the mechanical stress) may largely alter the microstruc- ture of the percolating network within composites as revealed the macroscopic conductivity. The understanding of the mesoscale changes will be based on the chemical structure of the polymer matrix. Chapter 3. is devoted to the description of a unique case in term of percolation behavior, which made possible the control of the phase arrangement within the composite and thereby the control of the macroscopic resistivity. p. 2 Multiscale relationships in polymer–based heterogeneous systems. . . Part II : Insulating fillers. In the second part, the main interest is to obtain good electrical insulators, i.e. that can withstand large electric fields. This part thus starts with a brief introduction to the common failure mechanisms, associated with the dielectric breakdown and is also divided in three chapters: Chapter 4. is devoted to the description of a numerical simulation of the relationships between mesostructure and dielectric breakdown. Chapter 5. reveals the influence of the processing conditions of a composite utilized in the industry on the microstructure and the quantitative consequences on breakdown properties. Chapter 6. presents the aging of these composites under “real word” conditions which will further be compared to accelerated aging performed in controlled conditions, in the laboratory. A comparison of the two aging situations will furnish a quantitative understanding of the relative influence of the chemical and physical contributions to the aging process. This report will then be concluded with a description of the current and future projects.
