Does a correlation exist between the foreign exchange reserves and the exchange rate? : An empirical study of China

FANG, Yu, LU, Lili January 2011 (has links)
The main purpose of this study is to investigate relationship between foreign exchange reserves and RMB exchange rate. In order to obtain a precise result, foreign trade situation and GDP are also considered. The monthly data is collected over period 1994 to 2011, and processed through ADF test, Johansen test, and Granger causality test. Final results indicate that there is a long-term equilibrium relationship existing between foreign exchange reserves and RMB exchange rate. Moreover, any changes of foreign exchange reserves would lead to the fluctuation of RMB exchange rate but not vice versa. At last, the dummy variables are added into regression model to test influence from the reform of RMB exchange rate regime. Results suggest that regime reform not only increase flexibility of RMB exchange rate, but also slow down the accumulation of foreign exchange reserves.

Import and Export Strategies to Sustain Business Under Economic Sanctions

Abdalla, Essam 01 January 2017 (has links)
Economic sanctions can result in more than a 70% decrease in business activities in a sanctioned country. The purpose of this qualitative single case study was to identify the strategies import and export small business owners use to sustain businesses under economic sanctions. The population for this study was import and export small business owners in the state of Khartoum, Sudan. General systems theory served as the conceptual framework and underpinned the study. The data collection included semistructured interviews and government financial reports. Adhering to an interview protocol, conducting transcript reviews of participants' interviews, member checking, and methodological triangulation represented the measures to ensure dependability, trustworthiness, creditability, transferability, and confirmability of the research. The thematic data analysis involved data cleaning, uploading the transcribed interviews into qualitative data analysis software, reorganizing the data, coding relevant information, and methodological triangulation against financial reports from the Central Bank of Sudan and the World Development Bank Indicators. The results from the thematic data analysis led to the identification of some major themes, notably, innovative strategies to secure funding and increase business sustainability despite the unfavorable economic climate consequent to the prevalent economic sanctions. The consensus among participants denoted that creative strategies presented the only choice to overcome the adverse business climate. The study findings may contribute to positive social change as the knowledge from it may aid in the improvement of employment, the living standards, and the prosperity of small businesses and societies in Sudan.

Právní úprava mezinárodního obchodu s ohroženými druhy / Legal regulation of international trade in endangered species

Ambrožová, Magdalena January 2011 (has links)
The subject of my thesis is the regulation of international trade in endangered species. An excessive trade in endangered species is one of the main causes of biodiversity loss on the Earth. The biodiversity loss constitutes a serious worldwide problem and threatens the stability of all the ecosystems. It is becoming more urgent by the fact that the speed of species extinction or at least their inclusion in the lists of endangered species is getting faster. Especially an illegal trade in endangered species is considered one of the largest and the most profitable. I have chosen this topic with the aim to show legal methods and ways of the regulation of the excessive exploitation of wildlife. The question of the regulation of the international trade is examined from the international perspective, the perspective of the European Union law and as well from the czech law perspective. A considerable stress is put on the description and explanation of the operation of the international trade regulation system regarding that an effective slowdown of the biodiversity loss phenomenon or its stop can be only possible by the international cooperation of the countries. The remaining levels of the regulation must be in compliance with the international level of the regulation. The thesis is consisted of six...

Porovnání nekomerčních nástrojů pro dolování znalosti z dat pomocí strojového učení

Ondrejka, Petr January 2014 (has links)
This diploma thesis concerns with features and abilities of chosen software tools for data mining. An important part is the selection and evaluation of each criteria by which the comparison of tools is done. The basic issues of data mining and machine learning are determined here. The comparison criteria are chosen with consideration of the necessary operations that are required to realize the whole process of data mining. The criteria are evaluated on the same level of importance, without weighting. The most widely used algorithms for data mining are chosen for the comparison of time and memory demandingness. The result is the description of selected tools based on the comparison criteria and evaluation of these criteria. The comparison results must be understood with respect of testing data, chosen hardware, and the fact that no weighting was used.

Žemės ūkio produktų importo ir eksporto muitinės procedūrų taikymo ypatumai / Peculiarities of applying customs procedures to import and export of agricultural products

Vikšna, Aidas 22 December 2006 (has links)
[to full text] / Problems of the topic: the Common Agricultural Policy has performed an extremely important role in development and extending integration processes in Europe. Upon joining the EU common market Lithuania opened up an opportunity to operate on a larger and more active market, to use the EU support instruments. However along with the increased opportunities Lithuanian agricultural sector had to accept the challenges of the EU common market: greater competition on the internal market, high quality standarts, trade and production restrictions. So far the aspects of customs processing of agricultural products are insufficiently agreed upon by the customs and the National Paying Agency. The customs of the EU member states have yet no single interpretation of some regulations, other provisions of legislative documents, which results in much misunderstanding when providing services to foreign companies. Due to a great number of complex European Union legislative documents, regulations, lawbooks governing customs activities, international trade operators face difficulties when trying to get a handle on procedures and practices when they arrange customs clearing for cargo. Topicality of the issue: since Lithuania has become an EU member state changes in agricultural products and food trade regime and legal regulation of import and export customs procedures and performance of their control have been introduced.
