Experiment on the Information Integration of Risk Perception of Drunk Driving

Kuo, Wen-Chun 27 August 2001 (has links)
Over the past five years, an average of about 323 traffic accidents that were caused by drunk driving occurred in Taiwan every year, resulting in 306 deaths and injuring 297 people and costing Taiwan society a lot. Concerned government agencies have recognized this harsh problem and taken measures as a counteract, for example, imposing heavy fines and punishing the driver with penal code, in order to discourage this poor habit of drunk driving. However, the tragedies caused by drunk driving have not abated. Government agencies usually execute public powers from the subjective perspective of statutory law, and similarly the research and investigation of related problems conducted in Taiwan usually emphasize the enforcement aspect. However, the results of foreign research indicate that risk message can be conveyed through risk communication so as to change the public¡¦s risk perception, resulting in their changes in behavior. This study began with the cognitive perspective of the risk of drunk driving perceived by the law enforcers, voluntary group of drunk driving risk, and pressured group of drunk driving risk, and used the experimental method of Information Integration Theory to investigate the integrated algebra model of each concerned group¡¦s ¡§probability information¡¨ and ¡§outcome information¡¨ of drunk driving risk and its level of risk perception. The findings are as follows: I. Cognitive algebra model (I) On drunk driving cases with high-probability, low-outcome risk of being stopped, the law enforcers as a whole used the multiplying model, while the drunk driving group and the ordinary driving group used the equal-weight averaging model to integrate the information. (II) On drunk driving cases with low-probability, high-outcome risk of causing traffic accidents, the law enforcers, the drunk driving group, and the ordinary group all used the adding model, with more emphasis on the outcome information. (III) On drunk driving cases with high-probability, low-outcome risk of being stopped, most people used the equal-weight averaging model, and they used the adding model on the cases of low-probability, high-outcome risk of causing traffic accidents. II. Risk perception (I) The drunk driving group had the highest risk perception on the type of high-probability, low-outcome risk of being stopped drunk driving, the ordinary group had the second highest risk perception, and the law enforcers had the lowest risk perception. (II) The ordinary group had the highest risk perception on the type of low-probability, high-outcome risk of drunk driving causing traffic accidents, the drunk driving group had the second highest risk perception, and the law enforcers had the lowest risk perception.

The experiment of information integration on the social stratification by fairness measurement

Huang, Yu-tien 27 June 2005 (has links)
Does the specialization and division of labor lead to the unequal distribution of social resources or the power in the highest stratification decide opportunities and incomes? What roles do occupation, incomes, and social status play in this society? The phenomenon of social stratification extending from specialization of labor results in the disputes over equality and inequality. People of different social stratification hold dissimilar social resources, which differentiate the opportunities that they acquire. In order to understand how people perceive the factors of inputs and outputs of social stratification, the experiment of information integration is to understand that the model of information Integration of how different groups and individuals influence the factors of inputs and outputs of social stratification, to investigate the perception of the factors of inputs and outputs of social stratification of different groups, and to increase the related analysis of social stratification in our country. This research takes Information Integration Theory (IIT) as research method to understand the internal process of how people deal with a couple of variables with perception. Integration of function would be the main discourse of Information Integration Theory. Through study, it is found that people usually use simple rules of algebra such as adding, multiplying and averaging to integrate information. The research is designed to induce the factors of inputs of social stratification as education and family background by means of documents; the factors of outcomes of social stratification as reputation of occupation and incomes. Information Integration Theory, IIT is employed to know the subjects¡¦ cognitive algebras and there might be different models of integration for people perceive unfairness very differently. The research result is shown as below:¡G 1 Information integration of the administrative group is the differential-weight averaging model in the category of ¡§education-reputation of occupation¡¨ whereas the working group is the adding model. 2 The information integration of the administrative group and the working group are both the differential-weight averaging model in the category of ¡§education-income¡¨. 3 The information integration of the administrative group and the working group are both the model of addition in the category of ¡§family background-reputation of occupation¡¨. 4 The information integration of the administrative group and the working group are both the differential-weight averaging model in the category of ¡§family background-income¡¨.

Information Integration Experiment of Urban Marketing and Investment Introduction -- A Cognition Comparative Research of the Investment and Policy-making in the State/Private-run Facilities

Wang, Fong-Lan 26 July 2000 (has links)
This study aims to start from the individual perspective and concretize the Diamond Model issued in the Competitive Advantage of Nations by Porter in 1990, and discuss the interior cognitive structure of investment policy of the state/private-run facilities from the cognitive psychology by means of information integration. In the aspect of private-run facility, it is an integrated pattern for the general investors to encounter diverse investment information, while the discussion of the sympathetic pattern in the marketing and investment introduction of government for state-run facility. After dedicated himself for more than forty years in studying Information Integration Theory, IIT, Anderon, an American scholar, found that in integrating diverse information, people stick to the three major patterns of Adding, Multiplying and Averaging. It was also certified that IIT has a positive impact in the interior and exterior efficiency in measuring the subjective essentiality and toleration of different sorts of information. Statistic is applied to this study in analyzing its algebra pattern for understanding the essentiality and integration pattern of investment factors and comparing the policy-making difference in the investment of state & private-run facilities so as to make it a reference for this expects that the marketing division of enterprise style government can control the thread of area economic under limited conditions and established a long-term developing urban environment through the thinking method of sympathetic pattern.

The Information Integration Experiment on Students' Experience of Taking KMRT

Huang, Yu-jiuan 09 June 2008 (has links)
Based on the Information Integration Theory, the current study investigates whether students¡¦ integration model of ticket fare and total travelling time difference will change when facing different safety conditions after they join the trials held by the Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Company (KRTC). The result indicates that the students¡¦ integration model of ticket fare and total travelling time difference is the ¬Û¥[ model. By using a different model of discussion, the result of my questionnaire shows that the linear transportation behavior found by traditional Mode Choice Model can be maintained. The result of data analysis suggests that KRTC has to adopt different strategies to enhance students¡¦ willingfulness to change their vehicles for transportation. It is shown that students add the scale values of ticket fare and total travelling time difference to motivate them to change their vehicles for transportation. Therefore, if we want to enhance the willingness to change their transporting vehicles, it is more effective to provide a solution with a higher scale value. In this study, students' scale value of total travelling time difference was higher than ticket price. Hence, if KRTC wants to enhance their willingfulness to change transporting vehicles, it is a more effective strategy to devise a way to decrease total travelling time.

The Operational Procedure and Cross-domain Analysis of PAM¡ãA Case Study of the Region Development and Cross-Strait Relations Promoted by NPOs in Kaohsiung

Liu, Li-Chuan 27 August 2008 (has links)
Nonprofit Organization¡]NPO¡^is a important part for civic society. This paper tries to review the relation between NPO and social development, and try to find some way to develop and help the economic of Kaohsiung. It will be a start point for social and NPO¡¦s development. ¡§An integrated public affairs management framework¡¨ is adopted to describe and analyze the social condition in society. To doing this, we try to present a broad overview of developmental issue in Kaohsiung. And we uses IIT¡]Information Integration Theory¡^and IM¡]Interactive Management¡^to help us to understand what people think about NPO and what can NPO do about the economic of Kaohsiung. The conclusion is that, (1) the result of IIT and IM is not significant between pre-test and post-test; it means it is not change the cognition of participants. (2) The social condition of Kaohsiung is declining gradually, including behavioral and cognitive aspect. (3) Economy is the core driver in that society and political evolve and better thrive when the material or economic aspect is strong or well address. The key point is the relation between cross-strait for the development of Kaohsiung. So NPO need to promote the cooperative between cross-strait and to find solution for both China and Taiwan.

Information Integration Models of Sentencing Factors in Traffic Cases and Waste Disposal Cases :A Study of Attitudes and Damages from Crimes

Huang, Kuo-chung 05 August 2009 (has links)
Abstract In order to understand whether the public improves their faith in justice after 15-year reforms, and whether the result of verdict meets the expectations of the public, this research regards the sentences from the Judge as a decision-making to discuss whether there is any difference in the integration models of sentencing factors and seriousness among the role in the Court. The research analyzes the functions of justice from the viewpoints of Integrated Reference Framework for Public Affairs Management (PAM), and anatomizes the phenomena presenting by Society Develop Matrix (SDM) in every development stage. The research adopts the experimental methods of Information Integration Theory (IIT), and divides the subjects into five roles: Judges, Prosecutors, Lawyers, Inmates and the General Public. The research selects the subjects from Kaohsiung, Tainan and Pingtung, and offers the two cases of ¡§Traffic¡¨ and ¡§Waste Disposal¡¨ to acquire the integration modes of ¡§the Damage from Criminal¡¨ and ¡§the Attitudes after committing crimes ¡¨ in the measurement of punishment. Here are the research findings: 1. Individual subject from the five roles mostly uses ¡§Equal-Weight Averaging Model¡¨ to combine the two factors of the damages from committing crimes and the attitudes after committing crimes. 2. The types of case influence sentences and the waste disposal cases are obviously much more serious than the traffic cases. 3. The order of cases has no influence on sentences. 4. There is no significant difference in penalty measurement in traffic court cases among the five roles. However, there are significant variations in waste disposal cases, especially between the attorneys and the general public, while the attorneys expect lighter penalty measurement than the general public. 5. After the justice reformation, there have been slight differences in cognitive models of sentences. Keywords: Public Affairs Management, Information Integration Theory, justice reforms, sentencing

Information and communication in public affairs management ¡Vthe integration experiment for the third-person effect

Yang, Yung-Ho 26 July 2007 (has links)
In the integrated public affairs management framework, except information communication, mass communication media also have economic industrial characteristics. Issues from mass communication media must make people have clinical and neutral cognition to avoided influences on people¡¦s judgements about facts. According to the study of the third-person effect, we proved that people mentually exist cognitive biases against communication information. Thus they always become operated subjects of elections. In order to understand subjects¡¦ cognitive and judge models, we employed three major factors, two situations of negative and positive news about THSR (Taiwan High-Speed Railway) to design our Information Integration Theory research. We also compared with the south and north people in Taiwan to show unbalances of the regional development about mass media and population quality. Findings of the research are as follow¡G 1. The north people with different issue involvements, have more movements in the the third-person effect in the negative news situation. 2. In the negative news situation, the north people¡¦s third-person effect and information reliability were represented by a negative correlation. 3. Media expose and people¡¦s third-person effect were represented by a positive correlation. 4. People¡¦s information integration models were following the adding rule. 5. The north people have more intention to support media regulation with the public opinion and actions. At last, we concluded several suggestions: 1. Unbalances of the regional development in Taiwan not only between the south and north, we must invest more resources to study and record. 2. Our study was a tiny subsection of public affairs management framework, researchers could study deeper and wider in the future. 3. The statistic tool of Information Integration Theory need to be updated to simplify importing data.

The Information Integration Cognitive Analysis of Southern Taiwanese students to study in Mainland China.

Liu, Wei-Chi 21 April 2012 (has links)
This study is based on information integration theory (IIT) .First, we use general questionnaire to find out the influence the choice of attending school factors, then analysis these factors into the information integration theory experiments which, from the psychological cognitive process to explore the knowledge and judgment of the southern Taiwanese students studying to the mainland China. According to the general questionnaire for students, parents and teachers. The results of three groups to be substituted into the information integration experiment. Otherwise, understanding the current educational environment for these three groups of objects survey is very important. The IIT experiment is for 50 students who are lived in Southern Taiwan, the factor derived in accordance with the general questionnaire is divided into "school assessment" and "social conditions", and these two oriented survey in the southern students' cognitive structure to the mainland China, integrated model, as well as the willingness of study in mainland China. The results are as follows: 1. Among the general survey results, most students and parents still do not have much intention to visit the mainland to study, but in the teachers, most teachers are willing to recommend students to the Chinese mainland to school and stay in mainland China. 2. From the analysis of 50 samples of information integration experiment, the first we use FM # 1 to get the result. Only 21 samples belonged to the average mode, then 21 samples use software AVERAGE weight and psychological value, most of the students in the choice of school at the same time, the school assessment is more important than the social conditions. There are 9 students care about the social conditions most.
