Service-Oriented Information-Centric Vehicular Ad-hoc NetworksModesto, Felipe 29 May 2019 (has links)
With Vehicular mobile communication becoming a daily requirement and an ever increasing number of services being available to passengers, it is clear that vehicular networks efficient communication systems.
VANETs, one of the most significant trends in ad-hoc networking, has much to gain from improved content delivery and one of the leading contenders for mobile networks is the Information-Centric networking approach.
Its peculiarities define the Vehicular Environment requires specialized solutions, tailored for highly mobile environments.
The main contribution of this thesis is the introduction of a novel architecture and components.
We perform extensively discuss Information-Centric Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks.
Additionally, we perform an in-depth analysis of bus-based transit systems into VANETs not only as participating members but as service providers and official agents including roles and potential challenges.
We perform statistical analysis and analyze world data to denote the intrinsic potential of public transit systems.
From the discussions presented, we introduce a novel service-based system architecture for Information-Centric Networking named SEVeN.
The proposed model is designed to enable service exchange and service management in highly competitive vehicular ad-hoc networks.
The proposed SEVeN architecture includes the introduction of a novel purpose-defined naming policy and service sub-layer as well as a service prioritization policy named LBD.
We also discuss the current state of ICN caching in VANET, existing issues faced by vehicular networks and potential approaches based on intermediate cache coordination that can be taken to mitigate existing shortcommings.
We perform a series of simulations and analyze the efficiency of popular caching in various network configurations to denote current shortcomings.
From this discussion, we propose a cache content insertion policies, UG-Cache and MG-Cache, for ICN-VANETs.
In these cache policies, cache insertion decisions are made based on recommendations from content sender dependent on request frequency and cache distance.
We also introduce a caching policy based on collaborative observation of locality in request frequency, designed to allow vehicles to preemptively distribute and store in a reserved portion of the cache based on the cooperative observation of requests with provider-based location correlation.
All novel elements proposed by this thesis are discussed, described, evaluated within the chapters of this thesis.

Structural and Optical Properties of III-V Semiconductor Materials for Photovoltaics and Power Electronic ApplicationsJanuary 2020 (has links)
abstract: This dissertation focuses on the structural and optical properties of III-V semiconductor materials. Transmission electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy are used to study at the nanometer scale, the structural properties of defects, interfaces, and surfaces. A correlation with optical properties has been performed using cathodoluminescence.
The dissertation consists of four parts. The first part focuses on InAs quantum dots (QDs) embedded in a GaInP matrix for applications into intermediate band solar cells. The CuPt ordering of the group-III elements in Ga0.5In0.5P has been found to vary during growth of InAs QDs capped with GaAs. The degree of ordering depends on the deposition time of the QDs and on the thickness of the capping layer. The results indicate that disordered GaInP occurs in the presence of excess indium at the growth front.
The second part focuses on the effects of low-angle off-axis GaN substrate orientation and growth rates on the surface morphology of Mg-doped GaN epilayers. Mg doping produces periodic steps and a tendency to cover pinholes associated with threading dislocations. With increasing miscut angle, the steps are observed to increase in height from single to double basal planes, with the coexistence of surfaces with different inclinations. The structural properties are correlated with the electronic properties of GaN epilayers, indicating step bunching reduces the p-type doping efficiency. It is also found that the slower growth rates can enhance step-flow growth and suppress step bunching.
The third part focuses on the effects of inductively-coupled plasma etching on GaN epilayers. The results show that ion energy rather than ion density plays the key role in the etching process, in terms of structural and optical properties of the GaN films. Cathodoluminescence depth-profiling indicates that the band-edge emission of etched GaN is significantly quenched.
The fourth part focuses on growth of Mg-doped GaN on trench patterns. Anisotropic growth and nonuniform acceptor incorporation in p-GaN films have been observed. The results indicate that growth along the sidewall has a faster growth rate and therefore a lower acceptor incorporation efficiency, compared to the region grown on the basal plane. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Materials Science and Engineering 2020

During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Sweden was a major recipient of children adopted from abroad. Many of these children originate in countries in Asia and South America and have now grown up and are in their 50s. Over the years, there have been different opinions about how these children should or can fit into Swedish society and what consequences it can have for the children. I have in various contexts during my life come into contact with other visibly expatriates who experience a feeling of belonging but still not. That one is expected to be and feel Swedish but that society and people in the environment do not really allow it to happen. Over the years, several voices have also discussed mental illness, relationship vulnerability, a sense of exclusion and an experience that something "is broken". This is something that has affected me and that has led to my curiosity about exploring the area more deeply. The purpose of this study is to investigate how transnationally adopted women perceive their self-image. Seven interviews have been conducted with visibly foreign adopted women born in India, Thailand, Colombia, and British Guiana. All respondents have come to Sweden before or at the age of two. The results have been analyzed using social psychological theory, symbolic interactionism, and theoretical thoughts by Goffman. The first research question was about what factors in the adopted family image can be used as a basis for the influence of the self-image. Family-related factors that have had an impact are both the family structure and composition themselves, but also events during childhood and childhood. The significant others have proven to be of great importance for the conditions given for building a safe and positive self-image. For some, early separation experiences have set a mark when later in life they have experienced separation anxiety and in some cases relationship vulnerability to others. The second research question was to find out which factors in the adoptee’s interaction with society can be the basis for the influence of the self-image. The adoptee’s interaction with society has been shown to influence the self-image as the surroundings contribute to a tangible middle-class relationship. Not all respondents are affected by the prejudices and beliefs of the environment as they have different resistance to vulnerability, prejudice, and normative beliefs. However, most people feel that prejudice from the environment affects self-image and creates what Goffman describes as stigma. The mental health is affected by a combination of family and society, as the significant other has a major impact on how the child navigates the outside world. Mental health seems to be influenced by growing up conditions and opportunities to explore ones internal. Finally, it has been shown that the respondents' self-image is very much influenced by the environment's ability to "stamp" the respondents through boundless curiosity and questioning.

Centro de Educación Técnico Productivo en el distrito de Villa El Salvador desarrollado mediante una arquitectura con espacios intermedios para adolescentes y jóvenes (CETPRO) / Productive Technical Education Center in the Villa El Salvador district developed through an architecture with intermediate spaces for adolescents and young people (CETPRO)Barzola Ubillus, Gianella Geraldine 30 June 2020 (has links)
The proposed project is about a CETPRO, a Center for Productive Technical Education whose main users are adolescents and young people from the district of Villa El Salvador district. Statistics show that more than 50% of these users drop out of higher education to enter the labor market without prior preparation. Against this, the main problem that the district has is the lack of infrastructure for the development of a productive technical education, in relation to the industrial zone.
Currently, the district only has 12 CETPROS, among them, only one provides specialties of wood, mechanics and textiles, while the others develop specialties of personal aesthetics, confectionery, among others. However, these educational centers do not develop specialties directly related to the industrial zone, of which we have: carpentry, leather and footwear, mechanical metal and textile manufacturing.
The project seeks, from these shortcomings, to provide adolescents and young people with a Center of Productive Technical Education with 5 specialties, 4 of them will maintain a relationship with the industrial zone of the district and the last one of administration and commerce for a complete competitive and labor development. Therefore, it is proposed to potentiate the industrial zone and the economic increase of the district.
As part of the analysis, it has been possible to recognize and understand the development of technical education projects, locally, nationally and internationally. The use of intermediate spaces has been identified, where users carry out daily and integration activities, which is why the emphasis of the project is “intermediate spaces”. The main objective is to create spaces for mediation and relationship between the different specialties, maintaining a visual, physical and temporal connection between the interior and exterior spaces.
Finally, the main motivation of this work is to be able to encourage adolescents and young people to attend a productive technical education, through an infrastructure with adequate spaces and suitable for each specialty. The reason why it is located in Villa El Salvador is because it has various positive aspects that will contribute to the development of the first specialized CETPRO. / Trabajo de investigación

Residencia universitaria y usos complementarios bajo el concepto “in between” para estudiantes universitarios de provincia o del extranjero en el distrito de Pueblo Libre / University residence and complementary uses under the concept “in between” for university students from province or abroad in the district of Pueblo LibreSoto Flórez, Karla 14 August 2020 (has links)
The present project is a mixed building under the concept “in between” (intermediate spaces), the main typology of which is a university residence, complementary to which arise complementary uses such as commerce, co-working offices and multipurpose rooms. It is strategically located in the Pueblo Libre district, close to the necessary and complementary equipment for these typologies. With the elaboration of this project, the aim is to cover 3.05% of the current demand from students from the province or from abroad, who due to a lack of buildings like this, have the need to stay in environments that are not architecturally suitable for their needs.
The objective of the university residence is to accommodate the students and provide them with leisure and rest spaces whose architectural quality allows the students to function personally, academically, socially and culturally.
On the other hand, it is necessary to mention that co-working offices, shops and multipurpose rooms are complementary spaces to this residence, which are included in the project in order to make it more attractive to investors and, therefore, hence, more profitable. / Trabajo de investigación

Centro Comunitario para adolescentes y jóvenes en Villa El Salvador / Community Center for adolescents and youth in Villa El SalvadorHerrera Dávalos, Valeria Margot 15 September 2020 (has links)
The research work proposes the creation of a community center in Villa El Salvador with the emphasis on permeability. That arises from the need for the place because it lacks spaces and opportunities in the district that promote social, cultural and sports activities in order to contribute to the development of youth and adolescents at the neighborhood level of the sector. A community center is proposed as a place of help and complement for the community. In which they can invest their free time and also take advantage of it.
In order to have more references from the community center, reference projects with the same typology and also with the same emphasis at the national level and abroad were analyzed.
The emphasis of permeability in architecture is primarily on the transition from exterior to interior. Considering important aspects such as the sunlight of the place, the materiality and the technological aspects in order to transmit the emphasis on the project.
We conclude that the project aims to enhance the individual and collective capacities of those who live on the margins, in turn providing public and semi-public spaces to the pre-existing community. / Trabajo de investigación
