Herbert, Gaëlle 26 January 2012 (has links) (PDF)

Novotny, Ondrej 05 September 2011 (has links)
« Résistances à l’Europe. La représentation sociale de l’Union européenne et les compétences politiques étudiées dans le milieu des entreprises tchèques » analyses political attitudes, social representations of Europe and European Union as well as a level of political competency among persons working in Czech entreprises (from workers to the top management). The first volume emphasizes a theoretical discussion about a concept of « Resistances to European Union » as it has been discussed since the late nineties of the twentieth century up to the 2010. We set a link between individual perceptions of political and social change as well as the importance of cultural differences to apparition of phenomena of resistance. A political competency plays a major role in an individual capacity to deal with cultural difference in changing political environment.<p>The second volume describes principal results of analysis of interviews issued from qualitative research between 90 individuals. We focus on explication of cultural and individual context that contributes to the formulation of Czech political attitudes toward Europe. A very detailed individual analysis helps to understand the reason of Czech reticences toward a process of the European integration at the beginning of the twenty-first century. We show four groups of tensions (antinomies) in social representations that actually constitute dynamic elements for political attitudes.

Mediální analýza rozpadu Československa / Media analysis of Czechoslovakian Desintegration

Vávra, Ladislav January 2015 (has links)
This thesis addresses the topic of the breakup of Czechoslovakia into two independent Czech and Slovak republics at the beginning of the year 1993. With the help of secondary literature, the first section is dedicated to chronologically interpreting the history of the relationship between Czechs and Slovaks. The section also discusses the accounts of leading Czech, Slovak and other international historians relating to the end of Czechoslovakia. In the second section, the author of this thesis firstly focuses on the analysis of selected printed media, including the Czech newspapers 'Rudé právo' and 'Mladá fronta/Mladá fronta DNES', and Slovakian 'Pravda' from the months around the time of the so-called Hyphen War at the beginning of 1990. The final chapters focus on the analysis of the above-mentioned newspapers from the time of the elections to the Federal Assembly in 1992 and examine reference methods relating to the issue of the Czech- Slovak misunderstanding.

Männlichkeit in der Literaturwissenschaft

Schwanebeck, Wieland 25 April 2017 (has links)

Februar 2022

Töpfer, Klaus 28 February 2023 (has links)

Britain and the atomic bomb: MAUD to Nagasaki.

Gorman, Claire L. January 2009 (has links)
There is a brief introduction explaining the themes in the literature available to date and how this thesis aims to add to available material. In chapter one I give an account of early British research into nuclear science, including collaboration between British universities and the effect the MAUD Report had on accelerating the United States atomic programme. I introduce the main British scientists here . In chapter two I focus on diplomacy between Britain and the United States in the period up to the Quebec Agreement. The two countries had their own atomic programmes at this stage and I discuss the lead up to the amalgamation of both programmes in August 1943. Chapter three examines the British raids on German heavy water facilities and the efforts to stop Germany acquiring the means to make an atomic bomb before the Allies. Co-operation between the British and U.S teams at Los Alamos is discussed, along with the crucial role played by Britain in assisting the American scientists. The British nuclear spies are featured in chapter four, focusing on Alan Nunn May and Klaus Fuchs. Their actions are discussed along with their arrests and trials. Effects of their cases on British atomic diplomacy with the Americans are highlighted. The final section sums up the legacies of Britain¿s nuclear programme and its effect on British Cold War politics with America and the U.S.S.R. The fusion, or hydrogen, bomb is mentioned briefly and an overall assessment of the achievements of the British scientists is included.

Spor o charakter občanské společnosti v českém kontextu / A dispute about the character of civil society in the Czech context

ŠTREJBAR, Petr January 2010 (has links)
The paper deals with the current form of civil society in the Czech Republic on the basis of classic and contemporary concepts. The importance, conditions and other aspects of the civil society are explained, which can help in describing these problems. A description of history of the Czech civil society should show on which its present form is based since the beginnings of civil society in Europe via its origin in the Czech Lands up to characteristics of the civil society after the revolution. The main part of the paper includes opinions of Václav Havel and Václav Klaus as principal participants in the discussion on civil society in the Czech Republic and comparison of their concepts. The analysis of the contemporary Czech civil society should define the form of civil society in the Czech Republic and its characteristics and circumstances even in comparison with both the leading personalities´ views. Both strong and weak points of the Czech civil society are described as well as its future potential dangers and prospects.

Perceptions of Evil: A Comparison of Moral Perspectives in Nazi Propaganda and Anti-Nazi Literature

Inksetter, Hamish January 2015 (has links)
This thesis examines how the concept of evil was understood by opposing German perspectives during the era of National Socialist rule (1933-1945). The rise of Nazism in Germany marked a period of massive political upheaval wherein the National Socialist government encouraged the masses to view the world in terms of a great struggle between forces of good and evil. This was the central theme of their propaganda, which zealously encouraged racialist beliefs in the popular consciousness, and was based on assumptions of German superiority and Jewish evil. Despite Hitler's apparent success in creating an obedient nation, a significant number of Germans opposed his rule, amongst whom a small group of writers expressed their discontent through creative fiction. Through a comparison of the worldviews communicated through political propaganda and anti-Nazi literature, it is revealed that the crux of the divide between their opposing perspectives hinged on the meaning of evil. Since evil is a concept with many meanings, this thesis approaches the subject thematically. The comparison begins by focusing on the perception of evil as an all-corrupting force that had taken hold of Germany, followed by an exploration of how power and brutality were understood, ending with a comparison of views on how the struggle between good and evil took place on both a social and individual level. In addition to demonstrating the subjectivity of moral perspective during a tumultuous period of the recent past, this research reveals how the struggle against Nazism existed as a conflict of ideas. Moreover, the comparison of cultural sources (including Nazi art, visual propaganda, written texts such as Mein Kampf, and anti-Nazi creative fiction) demonstrates the value of art as a tool for conducting historical enquiry. Since the legacy of the Third Reich continues to directly influence modern perceptions of evil, exploring how evil was understood according to contemporary Germans – from both pro and anti-Nazi perspectives – is of particular historical interest.

Mediální obraz proměny elit po roce 1989: morální Havel a technokrat Klaus / Media Imagine of Transformation of Elite after 1989: Moral Havel and Technocrat Klaus

Loudová, Barbora January 2020 (has links)
Czechoslovak society underwent a fundamental change in 1989, in which a certain portion of society, previously restricted from official intervention in politics, took crucial part. Even though this part of society (the dissent) was before 1989 restricted from participation in politics, it had been doing so. However, in illegal ways at that time, for which had been the involved often persecuted. This group of dissidents later contributed to the revolutionary changes, which is the source of certain mythology that began to appear in connection with them. During 1990s their influence decreased, and the dissent's political elite was gradually replaced by a new right- wing elite, promising economic reform and rapid transformation. The idealistic conception of politics was replaced by the pragmatic one and completely different and ambitious personalities came to the foreground. The new characters did not come from the background of fight against totalitarianism, yet they quickly gained political skills. This transformation of elites in Czech society can be expressed via comparison of Václav Havel and Václav Klaus, as both of them were among the main initiators of domestic politics. Therefore, this diploma thesis is focused on them and their media portrayal. The media reflect everyday reality and pose as...
