Méditation sur la liberté inspirée de Kierkegaard et Kundera

Roberge, Valérie 19 April 2018 (has links)

Žert Milana Kundery pod dohledem: kritický ohlas díla v dobovém kontextu a v současnosti. / Milan Kundera's The Joke supervised. Critical reception of the novel in the context of its release and today

Baumová, Anna January 2012 (has links)
Diploma thesis "Milan Kundera's 'The Joke' supervised. Critical reception of the novel in the context of its release and today" deals with critical reflection of the novel 'The Joke' in the period from the end of the 1960's up to current reviews. The author dedicates first chapters to the cultural and political background of the release. The core of the thesis focuses mostly on critical reception of the novel, which is divided into three historical periods. In the first part of the critical historical analysis and qualitative analysis, the author examines critical acceptance of the novel in the aftermath of its release (1967- 1969), in the Czechoslovakian and exiled journals and literary magazines in particular. The second part considers critical reaction to the novel throughout 1970's and 80's, and stresses outcomes of the reception in the sixties, official normalized critical reviews and the acceptance in the exile and samizdat literature as well. Finally, the last part of the thesis offers contemporary critical response to 'The Joke', analyzed on the basis of journals, literary magazines and newly emergent Kundera's monographs. Summarizing critical reception in each period, historical context is of primary importance to a profound understanding of the topic. The aim of the thesis is to find out...

"Qui a revé cette histoire?" Kunderovy francouzské romány / "Qui a revé cette histoire?" Kundera´s French Novels

VOLFOVÁ, Eliška January 2014 (has links)
This dissertation deals with three selected French novels written by Milan Kundera: La lenteur, L´identité, L´ignorance. The aim is to make an analysis of these works, which are known as "the French cycle". We focus especially on the process of the construction of a narrative world (by using the semantics of fictional worlds and narratological concepts), as well as on the thematic level of these works. At the center of our dialogue with the novels is the question of whether they could create a real cycle, and what are the aspects that could connect them to each another. We also pay attention to the position of these works in the context of Kundera´s other writings.

Milan Kundera a intertextualita / Milan Kundera and intertextuality

Grušová, Mariana January 2016 (has links)
The diploma thesis Milan Kundera and Intertextuality deals with aspects of relations between the texts in his novels. The first part outlines the intertextuality, theory of the novel and the approaches of some literary theorists towards this issue. The second half of the thesis analyzes the intertextuality in Kundera's works in various forms, mainly based on the themes of dreams and physicality. The greatest emphasis is placed on examining the legacy of Kafka in the context of Kundera's works, particularly in the novels The Joke and The Book of Laughter and Forgetting. No. of bitstreams: 1 Aline Scavazini de Matos Galvao.pdf: 799182 bytes, checksum: b0ae9b94c388ef327ca21328dc62de0f (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-11-26 / The aim of this research is to analyze how the form of the novel works the wandering theme in the novels of José Saramago and Milan Kundera, comparing them to the axis of the characters to answer the following questions: how the exile lived by characters (un)consacrates the image of wanderers? How this can give a new signification to the idea of identity, understood as a product of relation to the country they came from? Some hypothesis raised: the separation of homeland gives to the outcasts a critical and sensitive consciousness about the relationship between people and their land. The novel, as form of the transcendent homelessness, captures the wanderer with a new image and updates his critical view. The essayistic form, in both novels, contributes to the thematic discussion, being a compositional element of the works. As theoretical axis, we stand out the ideas of Lukács, Adorno and Walter Benjamin, as well critical texts of José Saramago and Milan Kundera as fundament to the creation of poetics of the novel. Regarding the wandering theme, we choose the studies of Michel Maffesoli and Édouard Glissant. The comparative method gave us a more in-depth debate about the wandering theme and how the novel forms echoes the contemporary dilemma regarding notions of identity and globalization.

Rey, Catherine, January 2006 (has links)
The subject of this thesis is an examination of the acquisition in language of a new country for three Eastern European writers exiled in France. For such writers, art and life become inseparable: just as the experience of geographical displacement liberates the writer so it liberates his language. This new language becomes a field of experimentation, in which the conflicts that precipitated exile are resolved. Departure necessitates the abandonment of the mother tongue: for Cioran, Romanian; for Kundera, Czech; for Makine, Russian. For each of these three writers, studied in this thesis, the adoption of French as the language of literary expression was a decisive act. Geographically and spiritually he and his text are redefined. Separated from familiar landmarks, each finds a new terrain in the language of the creative text, a place, a private space, in which to express the realities of his new self. On the one hand this new paradigm is the expression of a rejection of a past and a tradition; on the other hand it is essential in the process of coming to self-understanding. For Cioran, Kundera and Makine the French language provides a foil to their own ruptured, fragmented, traumatised or guilt-ridden native identities. In each case the adoption of French with its concomitant stereotypical qualities and values constitutes a dialectical process of coming to a clearer sense of self.

Language, Memory, and Exile in the Writing of Milan Kundera

McCauley, Christopher Michael 13 June 2016 (has links)
During the twentieth century, the former Czechoslovakia was at the forefront of Communist takeover and control. Soviet influence regulated all aspects of life in the country. As a result, many well-known political figures, writers, and artists were forced to flee the country in order to evade imprisonment or death. One of the more notable examples is the writer Milan Kundera, who fled to France in 1975. Once in France, the notion of exile became a prominent theme in his writing as he sought to expose the political situation of his country to the western world--one of the main reasons why he chose to publish his work in French rather than in Czech. This thesis analyzes the themes of language and memory in connection with exile in two of Kundera's novels, Le livre du rire et de l'oubli (1978) and L'Ignorance (2000). We contend that these concepts serve as anchors and tethers, stabilizing forces meant to help exiled characters recreate their identity outside of their homeland. By exploring notions of language and memory in these novels, Kundera demonstrates how the experience of exile affects the human condition during the latter half of the twentieth century.
