This master’s thesis deals with the design of automated workplase for measurement with electrochemical sensors. Design and realization of a device, which communicates with computer and which can be controlled via WAN or LAN nets, are the main aims of this work. This thesis describes the process of designing, realization and optimalization of designed preparation adjustment. It also describes created software of a device, driver for service PC and programme of a web client.

Imega Media/IT har planerat en uppgradering av nätverket inom företagets avdelning Display. Företagets planer är att ersätta ett föråldrat Cat5 Ethernetkablge med Cat6 för att uppnå en högre uppkopplingshastighet samt etablera ett lokalt nätverk för avdelningen. Denna rapport dokumenterar de steg som tagits för att analysera och på bästa sätt kunna implementera den planerade uppgraderingen, baserat på hårdvara och konfigurationskrav. Med en skiss över företagets nätverkstopologi kunde man konstatera att ingen sekundär väg existerade till de båda yttre switcharna, och därmed garantera att inga switchingloopar kunde uppstå när den slutgiltiga topologin kopplats samman. Baserat på detta ersattes kablage och ny hårdvara implementerades för ett nytt lokalt nätverk. Utförandet möjliggjorde för de anställda att kunna fortsätta sitt arbete utan driftstörningar. I slutändan kunde man med hjälp av enklare mätningar i form av filnedladdning, garantera att hastigheter uppemot 1 Gb/s kunde uppnås. / The company Imega Media/IT has planned an upgrade for the network within one of the company departments called Display. Hardware is implemented in order to establish a local network and replace the installed Cat5 Ethernet cables with the Cat6 version in order to achieve a higher connection speed. This report documents steps taken in order to analyze and in the best possible way implement the planned upgrade, based on offered hardware and configuration requirements. With the help of a sketch, covering the network topology, one could state that no secondary route existed towards the end switches, therefore guaranteeing that no switching loops could appear after the final installation. Based on the documented topology, improved Ethernet cabling and new hardware were implemented, establishing a new local network. Finally, by using existing hardware resources within the upgraded network, measurements could be made to guarantee that a gigabit speed was reached.

This paper describes a solution which enables mobile devices to transparently access the campus network and the Internet. Different user classes are provided, and security issues are taken into account. The requirements for user machines are low, and the software is nearly maintenance-free for the network administrator after installation and configuration. / Diese Arbeit realisiert einen transparenten Zugang zum Campusnetz der TU Chemnitz und zum Internet für mobile Geräte. Dabei werden mehrere Nutzerklassen unterschieden und Sicherheitsaspekte berücksichtigt. Die Anforderungen an die Nutzerrechner sind gering, und der Aufwand für den Administrator beschränkt sich im wesentlichen auf die Installation und Konfiguration der Software.

The focus of this thesis is on transferring data between mobile devices. It analyzes the resource consumption of using the Wireless LAN interface in some situations, and proposes and evaluates some new applications involving the transfer of voice and data files. Measurements show the high consumption of battery power due to the operation of a wireless network interface, even if it is not “actively” used to transfer data, while the memory consumption of the running applications is very limited. This thesis includes also an application to transfer files between two or more Pocket PCs: it is proposed as an addition to the VoIP application Minisip. Finally I have developed an application in order to explore the possibility to make a voice call by transferring real-time encoded text using UDP and/or RTP streams. This could be used together with speech-to-text and text-to-speech conversion applications at the end points to allow a “voice conversation” even on wireless links with very limited capacity, whereas a standard VoIP conversation would not be affordable. / Fokus i detta examensarbete ligger på överföring av data mellan mobila enheter. Det analyserar resursutnyttjandet vid användande av Wireless LAN-anslutning i några situationer, samt brukar analysen för att föreslå och utvärdera ett antal nya applikationer för överföring av röstsamtal och filer. Mätningar visar den höga konsumtion av batterikraft som anslutning till ett trådlöst nätverk gränsnitt, även då det inte används "aktivt" för dataöverföring, medan de applikationer som använts här behöver bara mycket begränsad minneskapacitet. I detta examensarbete ingår även ett program för överföring av filer mellan två eller flera mobila apparater, föreslaget att ingå i Minisip, en VoIP applikation. Dessutom föreslås och utvärderas en applikation som undersöker möjligheterna att vid röstsamtal överföra realtidskodad text via RTP och/eller UDP stream. Använd tillsammans med en röst-till-text- och text-till-röstomvandling i ändpunkterna möjliggör denna genomförande av röstsamtal även då mycket begränsade trådlösa anslutningar nyttjas. / <p>Exchange student from Pisa.</p>

Allt sedan internet gjorde sitt intåg i världens hem har tjänsterna blivit alltmer resurskrävande. Denna utveckling kommer att fortsätta. Trådbundna abonnenter har gått från att surfa via långsamma modem till att behöva höghastighetsbredband. Abonnenter som valt mobilt bredband som anslutningsteknik har ökat lavinartat. Dessvärre kommer inte den mobila tekniken att leva upp till framtidens allt större krav på bandbredd eftersom anslutningen är för okontinuerlig för tyngre streamade tjänster. Detta innebär att det trådbundna höghastighetsbredbandet måste byggas ut för att nå fler. Det kan göras på flera olika sätt och med flera olika tekniker. Den här uppsatsen fokuserar på tekniker som utgör LAN (Local Area Network). Teknikbeskrivningen av uppsatsen utgör en grund för huvuddiskussionen vilken behandlar teknikernas olikheter vad gäller installationskostnader och andra samhällsekonomiska mervärden, som exempelvis miljö och allmän smidighet och lämplighet. Ur detta resonemang besvaras uppsatsens huvudfråga om vilken accessteknik som skall väljas vid en installation i ett flerbostadshus från fastighetsägarens perspektiv. Priset för abonnenten är direkt kopplat till hur kostsam en installation blir varpå både fastighetsägaren och de boende (abonnenterna) borde sträva efter att få bästa produkt för lägsta pris. Detta är dock något som sällan uppfylls eftersom affärsupplägg och avtalsstruktur innebär att installationer görs gratis för fastighetsägaren medan abonnenterna får bära merkostnaden. Av de tre LAN teknikerna, det vill säga FTTH, FTTB via Cat 5/6 och Q-lan, är det idag bäst för fastighetsägaren att installera Q-lan. Q-lan innebär att behovet av bandbredd i dagsläget och den överskådliga framtiden är säkrat till en låg kostnad. Samtidigt blir installationen av Q-lan estetiskt snyggare och mer välplacerad i lägenheten eftersom accesspunkter blir via kabeltvuttagen. Placeringen i lägenheten är, med FTTH och FTTB via Cat 5/6, sämre och innebär att modemet placeras i lägenhetens hall. FTTB via Cat 5/6 innebär högre kostnad än Q-lan medan bandbredden har en begränsning. För FTTH finns det nära obegränsade utvecklingsmöjligheter vad gäller bandbredd men installationen blir mycket kostsam. FTTB via Cat 5/6 rekommenderas inte. Dock kommer FTTH att uppfylla framtidens ökade behov men till en hög kostnad.

El presente trabajo plantea una propuesta de segmentación con redes de áreas locales virtuales (VLAN) y priorización del ancho de banda con calidad de servicio (QoS) para la mejora del rendimiento y seguridad de la red de área local (LAN) en la Empresa Editora El Comercio – Planta Norte. La Empresa posee una red plana en su diseño lo cual dificulta la administración del tráfico de la red, debido a la ausencia de estándares de calidad en gestión de tráfico LAN, políticas de seguridad no alineadas a las necesidades de la Empresa y desaprovechamiento de la performance de los equipos de comunicación instalados. Esto ha ocasionado la latencia de la red en horas pico, degradándose la velocidad de transferencia por el tráfico desmedido de la información y perjudicando o retardando los procesos más importantes en la empresa en intervalos de 60 a 90 minutos. Asimismo, la información periodística enviada por los corresponsales hacia la planta, ocasiona pérdida de tiempo en acciones de “subida” y “descarga” de archivos (fotos, videos, infografías, avisos publicitarios, etc.). Adicionalmente, los parámetros de seguridad de la red no garantizan la inviolabilidad de los equipos y la manipulación de la información, lo cual representa un riesgo para la integridad y desarrollo de los procesos. Por ello, se rediseñó la red para el soporte de redes LAN virtuales y de esta manera, segmentar las áreas en subredes para un mayor nivel de protección; brindar seguridad (listas de control de acceso ACL, tecnologías emergentes en seguridad Windows Server 20008, nivel de autentificación – Radius); mejorar el consumo de ancho de banda (calidad de servicio QoS, protocolo de agregación de enlaces de control LACP, troncales, etc.); implementar nuevos protocolos en tecnología Cisco; instalar redes inalámbricas y nuevos servicios de transferencia de archivos (protocolo de transferencia de archivos FTP).
