Comparison of systems to detect rogue access points

Lennartsson, Alexander, Melander, Hilda January 2019 (has links)
A hacker might use a rogue access point to gain access to a network, this poses athreat to the individuals connected to it. The hacker might have the potential to leakcorporate data or steal private information. The detection of rogue access points istherefore of importance to prevent any damage to both businesses and individuals.Comparing different software that detects rogue access points increases the chanceof someone finding a solution that suits their network. The different type of softwarethat are compared are intrusion detection systems, wireless scanners and a Ciscowireless lan controller. The parameters that are being compared are; cost, compat-ibility, detection capability and implementation difficulty. In order to obtain resultssome of the parameters require testing. As there are three types of software, threeexperiment environments should be conducted. Our research indicates that alreadyexisting network equipment or the size of the network affects the results from theexperiments.

Theological medical ethics: A virtue based approach

Dinh, Hoa Trung January 2013 (has links)
Thesis advisor: LISA S. CAHILL / The Nuremberg trials ushered in a new era in which the four principles approach has become progressively the norm in Euro-American biomedical ethics, while the concepts of virtue and character become marginalized. In recent decades, the AIDS pandemic has highlighted the social aspects of health and illness, and the individualistic nature of the four principles approach proves inadequate in addressing the social causes of illness and poor health. At the global level, the promotion of the four principles approach as the universal norm can lead to the displacement of local values and customs, and the alienation of people from their cultural heritage. In this dissertation, I argue that although principles are indispensable, the virtue-based approach is more adequate in addressing these needs. The dissertation demonstrates that a virtue-based medical ethics informed by the gospel vision of healing would support models of health care that take seriously the social determinants of illness, and advocate action on behalf of the poor and the marginalized. At the global level, virtue-based medical ethics also allows the coexistence of the universal values and the local norms, and encourages cross-cultural dialogue. This dissertation develops a virtue-based medical ethics grounded in the Aristotelian teleological structure, and integrating insights obtained from the historical critical study of the healing narratives in Luke-Acts. It also provides a correlative study of the love command in Luke and the virtue of humaneness in the medical ethics of eighteenth century Vietnamese physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong. The concluding chapter brings these elements together in a discussion of the work of the Vietnamese Catholic AIDS care network. / Thesis (PhD) — Boston College, 2013. / Submitted to: Boston College. / Wireless network equipment for personal use comparison of emerging technology trends and analysis.

Rivera, Antonio D\'Acosta 06 October 2010 (has links)
In todays globalized world, systems, applications and people need to be permanently connected to the Internet, a variety of communications networks and several different devices simultaneously. Ideally, faced with this context, there should be a single device with a single network interface, and a single program that enables several connections and protocols to be used simultaneously, making the entire systems simple to use and easy to install and operate, thus leading to the desired levels of stability and reliability. So the personal area networks (WPAN) are growing in importance since its debut in 1991. Several technologies have been proposed for its implementation without a consensus on the applicability of each option The proposed work will conduct a critical evaluation of the various proposed technologies and, through a laboratory prototype seek information to enable a more objective evaluation of these technologies. This document provides a description of the laboratory and presents the proposed methodology to compare technology for WPAN.

TCP/IP sobre LANE e o seu impacto prático na rede local / TCP/IP over LANE and its practical impact on a local area network

Kakuda, Claudio Massaki 11 August 2006 (has links)
This work describes the methods, measures and analyses performed aiming to optimize the data communication network from the Physics Institute of Sao Carlos as well as the technologies and protocols used in the network recently. Special care is given to the analysis of the VLANs performance using, initially, the LANE protocol over ATM which has its core based on pure ATM and ATM-Ethernet switches. Comparative measures had been carried out using a backbone working on a Fast Ethernet technology, which seems to have a very close transmission rate from the ATM 155Mbps. This work also discusses best results acquired with the implementation of larger networks reducing the number of subnetworks, statistical analyses based on time delay of the network in order to evaluate the performance of the changes made on its configuration. Even though the traffic from the Institute has been increased over these years and several services have been added to the network, it was completely possible to adapt the performance to the needs, using the benefits of the technological evolution which the network equipments had brought to the Institute.

Casos prácticos de análisis financiero.

Jasen Céspedes, Alejandro January 2004 (has links)

A reserch of daoism temple board in I-Lan city

Lin, Ching-I Unknown Date (has links)

LAN-refresh och WAN-migrering / LAN-refresh and WAN-migrering

Thor, Kim, Allared, Sofie January 2010 (has links)

This work has been carried out at a company in the region which has about 30000 employeeswith about 400 sites all over the world. The company outsources their network including theLAN refresh and the WAN migration. They needed help with an upgrade of their LAN at theirScandinavian headquarters and to find a new solution for their WAN. The reason why the upgradeof the LAN was needed was that the equipment was too old and did not pass the securityrequirements. They also required a solution to segment their LAN, which consisted of a singlelarge VLAN with 1,300 employees. their WAN solution was made up of tunnels between all officesand the headquarter were used as the central point. They wanted to get away from beingdependent on a central point while redundancy was not always working as it should. The solution to the WAN problem was to use the ISPs backbone based on MPLS. There are two mainsolutions, layer 2 (Ethernet) VPN or layer 3 (IP) VPN. In the case of IP VPN, there are a couple of differentconnectivity options such as a static route, or use a routing protocol (eg OSPF or BGP). The final solutionwas IP VPN with OSPF as routing protocol to the ISP. With regard to the configuration of the OSPF solutionwas that every office became an own OSPF domain, configured with area 0. The report also includesthe implementation of the WAN migration with its problems. The upgrade of the LAN was a lot of planning, documentation and security. The solution for the segmentationwas to create a VLAN per floor. Because of the new software they can have the required securityfeatures.

Security of IEEE 802.11b / Säkerhet i IEEE 802.11b

Skoglund, Johan January 2003 (has links)

The IEEE 802.11b standard is today the only commonly used standard in Europe for fast wireless networks. This makes it possible to connect computers to networks in places where it is not possible to use wires. Examples of such situations are internet access at airports, communication in emergency areas or for military communication. Common for all these situations is that network security is important.

This thesis consists of two different parts. The first part handles the security mechanisms and the second part is an evaluation of the possibilities to use IEEE 802.11b in embedded applications. The part that handles the security includes the security mechanisms found in the standard, flaws in these mechanisms and methods that try to reduce these problems.

Ethernet-baserat interkommunikationssystem för militära fordonssystem / Ethernet based intercommunication system for military vehicle

Keller, Andreas January 2003 (has links)

The result of this master thesis report describes the advantages and the drawbacks that will arise when implementing an Ethernet based intercommunication system in military vehicles. The report presents a possible solution and describes how different sound applications will be implemented into the suggested solution.

The report show that IP LAN in vehicles leads to more advantages than drawbacks. The main advantages are that all kind of media can share the same LAN and that there is a lot of knowledge of this technique in the civil area. The main drawback is about delay. The drawbacks are otherwise well known and methods are known to decrease the impact of them. In the suggested intercommunication system the processing delay gives the largest impact on not deliver data in real time. The suggested solution, with separate connections for intercom unit and PC platform to the switch at each crew member gives good reliability and security.
