Examensarbetet utgörs av en sammanfattning av tre genomförda nybyggnadsprojekt. Foton, ritningar och skisser visar hur arkitektoniska koncept omsatts från vision till verklighet. Gemensamt för projekten är att målbilden varit inriktad på nytta, identitet och mervärde.   Kanal 5 i Stockholm är en mindre glasbyggnad som blivit en symbol för omvandlingen av ett helt innerstadskvarter, där verksamheterna ändrats från industri och hantverk till arbetsplats för idéprojekt och mediaproduktion. Byggnaden fungerar som huvudentré till äldre lokaler som renoverats. Stadsutveckling. Kommunikation. Landmärke.   Canon i Solna är ett medelstort kontorshus som i sitt utförande förenar en värdeneutral prefabriceringsestetik med det globala hightech-företagets krav på attraktiv arbetsmiljö, representativitet och profilering. Kontakt, öppenhet och överblick präglar byggnadens inre organisation. Effektivitet. Varumärke. Gränssnitt.   Swedbank Stadion i Malmö är resultatet av en hel regions långsiktiga uppslutning kring det lokala fotbollslaget, Malmö FF. Ett renodlat fotbollsstadion, en teaterscen för utpräglad fankultur, en intäktsmaskin för klubben i dess strävan mot etablering i det internationella finrummet. Interaktivitet. Historia. Intäkter. / The thesis consists of a summary of three completed projects. Photographs, drawings and sketches demonstrate how architectural concepts have been carried through into real buildings. Common to these projects is the clear focus on utility, identity and added value.   Kanal 5 in Stockholm is a small glass building. It has become a symbol of the transformation of an entire city block, where operations have changed from industry and crafts to work on conceptual content and media production. The building serves as the main entrance to the older renovated premises. Urban development. Communications. Landmark.   Canon in Solna is a medium-sized office building. Its design combines the anonymous aesthetics of prefabrication with the global high-tech company's requirement for an attractive working environment, hospitality and profiling. Connection, transparency and visibility characterize the building's interior organization. Efficiency. Branding. Interface.   Swedbank Stadion in Malmö is the result of an entire region's long-term commitment to the local football team, Malmö FF. A genuine football stadium, a theatre for a devoted fan culture, a cash machine for the club in its ambition to establish itself in the international community. Interactivity. History. Revenue.

Územní studie „Zbrojovka“ / Town planing study "Zbrojovka"

The aim of this thesis is a revitalization of the grounds once belonging to Zbrojovka Brno. These grounds are in the zoning map defined as “brownfield”. Within Brno’s limits, the area has an extremely convenient location. Since the grounds are situated in the central part of Brno, the complex is in terms of traffic and transport in the vicinity of both, the current and the newly planned ring-road. Important factors influencing the project are the river Svitava which borders the west side of the area, and a railroad corridor skirting the east side of the location. Assigned area was, for the purposes of this thesis, expanded by the grounds once belonging to Zetor and the adjoining area towards Markéty Kuncové Street. Several buildings from the former grounds, which fit in into the urban concept and were in good technical conditions, have been preserved. From a functional point of view, the newly designed grounds will meet all the requirements for a fully independent municipal district. The multifunctional development contains primarily housing complexes, administrative buildings, public facilities, recreational areas, as well as other functional structures. The urban concept of this project is a result of a study of surrounding blocks. Based on an analysis of the size and height of these buildings, an idealized block was designed and then recreated into a symmetrical raster of blocks with the street width of 20m. This raster was subsequently applied to newly designed points of entry into the area. Total urban and mass proposal of the development areahas been further influenced by principal conceptual points. Among these conceptual points belong the perspective axes which connect the conceptual points with an orientation point, in this case the former factory’s smokestack. Creating a new arm for the Svitava River is another point. Taking into account that the whole vicinity of the factory grounds is without quality public greenery elements.

Left ventricle functional analysis in 2D+t contrast echocardiography within an atlas-based deformable template model framework

This biomedical engineering thesis explores the opportunities and challenges of 2D+t contrast echocardiography for left ventricle functional analysis, both clinically and within a computer vision atlas-based deformable template model framework. A database was created for the experiments in this thesis, with 21 studies of contrast Dobutamine Stress Echo, in all 4 principal planes. The database includes clinical variables, human expert hand-traced myocardial contours and visual scoring. First the problem is studied from a clinical perspective. Quantification of endocardial global and local function using standard measures shows expected values and agreement with human expert visual scoring, but the results are less reliable for myocardial thickening. Next, the problem of segmenting the endocardium with a computer is posed in a standard landmark and atlas-based deformable template model framework. The underlying assumption is that these models can emulate human experts in terms of integrating previous knowledge about the anatomy and physiology with three sources of information from the image: texture, geometry and kinetics. Probabilistic atlases of contrast echocardiography are computed, while noting from histograms at selected anatomical locations that modelling texture with just mean intensity values may be too naive. Intensity analysis together with the clinical results above suggest that lack of external boundary definition may preclude this imaging technique for appropriate measuring of myocardial thickening, while endocardial boundary definition is appropriate for evaluation of wall motion. Geometry is presented in a Principal Component Analysis (PCA) context, highlighting issues about Gaussianity, the correlation and covariance matrices with respect to physiology, and analysing different measures of dimensionality. A popular extension of deformable models ---Active Appearance Models (AAMs)--- is then studied in depth. Contrary to common wisdom, it is contended that using a PCA texture space instead of a fixed atlas is detrimental to segmentation, and that PCA models are not convenient for texture modelling. To integrate kinetics, a novel spatio-temporal model of cardiac contours is proposed. The new explicit model does not require frame interpolation, and it is compared to previous implicit models in terms of approximation error when the shape vector changes from frame to frame or remains constant throughout the cardiac cycle. Finally, the 2D+t atlas-based deformable model segmentation problem is formulated and solved with a gradient descent approach. Experiments using the similarity transformation suggest that segmentation of the whole cardiac volume outperforms segmentation of individual frames. A relatively new approach ---the inverse compositional algorithm--- is shown to decrease running times of the classic Lucas-Kanade algorithm by a factor of 20 to 25, to values that are within real-time processing reach.
