. . vn+1} distincts il existe pour tout k ∈ {1,2,3, . . . / The lonely runner conjecture was formulated by J.M. Wills en (1972) and Thomas Cusick (1973). If ∥·∥ denotes the distance from integers, for x ∈ R ∥x∥ = mink∈Z(|x − k|), this conjecture is asking whether or not for any set of n + 1 distinct real numbers {v1,v2 . . . vn+1} and for any k ∈ {1,2,3 . . . ,n + 1} there is a time t ∈ R such that for any other speed vi,i ̸= k we have ∥t(vi − vk)∥ ≥ 1 n+1 . It has been proven to be true for n + 1 ≤ 7 , the last case n + 1 = 7 was shown by Barajas and Serra in 2007. Many authors have wrote about this subject each bringing more knowledge. In this thesis, there will be an exposure on different techniques that have been used to prove the cases for n + 1 ≤ 7, differents cases in wich the conjecture holds and the problem of getting better lower bounds for the gap of loneliness.

Dlouhodobá nezaměstnanost matek samoživitelek / Long-term unemployment of single-parent mothersWANKA, Pavel January 2009 (has links)
This degree paper deals with the long-term unemployment of one of the most risk groups in the labour market {--} the single-parent mothers. It is a very current topic. Recently, the share of babies born to single-parent mothers has had a growing tendency and the divorce rate has been increasing. More often it is a woman rather than a man who heads the incomplete family. Lonely mothers have to face a difficult task. They have to cope with everyday care of their child on one side and to fulfil the duties of a family provider on the other side. For employers, a single-parent mother with a dependent child is problematic labour force with specific demands on working hours and higher probability of more frequent absences due to caring for a sick family member. These women are therefore willing to take ``worse{\crqq} job which does not correspond to their qualification and education. A lonely mother{\crq}s family is dependent on the income of one of the parents only. Although the father of the dependant has a duty to maintain and support his child as stipulated in the Family Act, he does no fulfil it quite often. Unemployment, especially lasting on a long-term basis, represents a significant social problem for a single-parent family. The standard of living is reduced, and the family has to face the threat of poverty, which is more significant as it regards the children as well. Long-term unemployed single-parent mothers are frequent beneficiaries of social benefits which allow them to survive on a subsistence level. Lonely mothers in this situation chose various strategies to secure alternative income, or take various money-saving measures. They often seek and find help in informal social networks which seem to be very important in such situations. Consequences of long-term unemployment can be a cause of social exclusion. Theoretical part of this degree paper maps the life situation of single-parent mothers with regard to their specific chances of assertion on the labour market. It further deals with the offers of child day care services and the system of support from the state. It also informs of the employment policy measures and flexible forms of employment as a means to harmonize the areas of the work and the family. The degree paper also contains information on the pro-family measures being prepared and approved by the government in November 2008. The research part of the degree paper is focused on identification of the attitudes and strategies of long-term unemployed mothers.

Ultrfiltry a nezávislé sytémy / Ultrafilters and independent systemsVerner, Jonathan January 2011 (has links)
This work presents an overview of several different methods for construct- ing ultrafilters. The first part contains constructions not needing additional assumptions beyond the usual axioms of Set Theory. K. Kunen's method using independent systems for constructing weak P-points is presented. This is followed by a presentation of its application in topology (the proof of the existence of sixteen topological types due to J. van Mill). Finally a new con- struction due to the author is presented together with a proof of his result, the existence of a seventeenth topological type: ω∗ contains a point which is discretely untouchable, is a limit point of a countable set and the countable sets having it as its limit point form a filter. The second part looks at constructions which use additional combina- torial axioms and/or forcing. J. Ketonen's construction of a P-point and A. R. D. Mathias's construction of a Q-point are presented in the first two sections. The next sections concentrate on strong P-points introduced by C. Laflamme. The first of these contains a proof of a new characterization theorem due jointly to the author, A. Blass and M. Hrušák: An ultrafilter is Canjar if and only if it is a strong P-point. A new proof of Canjar's the- orem on the existence of non-dominating filters (Canjar filters) which uses...

In Brazil, the expectation of the people's living 60 years or more has increased, from this reality, we highlight the amount of homes formed by older who are single and living alone. Starting from the perspective that the support of a relational system is of great importance as it provides exchanges, support and protection, it must be recognized that the more the subject age, tends to have limitations which cause them to depend on others, are family, friends or paid professionals. Against this background, it appears that the reality of elderly who do not have children and spouses, and inhabiting a one-person household, is little known, especially in the state of Pernambuco. Based on these, the general objective of this research was to describe as the elderly, who are not married and have no children, build their networks in order to support and care. The specific objectives were to identify the sociodemographic profile of them; analyze how they perceive their aging process; and identify their needs and feelings about the fact of living alone and their expectations for the future and the reasons that led them to live alone. It is a qualitative research, which was attended by eight elderly women with chronological age of 60, unmarried and living alone. The instrument used was an interview consists of questions that met the research objectives and also to the socio-demographic data of the participants. The interviews were analyzed according to the technique of thematic content analysis. The main results showed: 1) the heterogeneity of aging, since older emphasized the importance of having a proper lifestyle that provides autonomy and satisfaction with life; 2) the construction of social networking, support and care in the family has the primary source (especially brothers and nephews), followed by spirituality / religiosity and friendships; 3) income, combined with a good education, appeared as providing security and independence; 4) the experience of living alone, in general, was viewed positively because the elderly live to old age soon, satisfactory health and occupations. It is hoped that the research contributes to knowledge about the reality of these older, as can also support the work of the professionals that they meet or are interested in aging theme.

This thesis is an attempt to de-construct the linear way in which I describe my work. I am attempting to deal with my family’s background in the theater and identity as a Texan. In addition I am attempting to address my interest in phenomenological concerns. This document was created in Microsoft Word 2000. The video portions of the video were edited on Imovie HD and Final Cut Pro, while the audio text was recorded from TextEdit’s text to speech program.

Téma jídla v tvorbě Kawakami Hiromi / The Issue of Food in the Work of Kawakami HiromiStejskalová, Tereza January 2014 (has links)
This master's thesis focuses on the issue of food in some selected works by Kawakami Hiromi (born 1958). At first, it attempts to express some characteristic features of modern Japanese cuisine in general, which are closely connected to the creation of the concept of national identity, and to give a summary of works of modern and contemporary Japanese literature in which the topic of food is present. Next, it describes the work of Kawakami Hiromi. After introducing the author's main masterpieces and its typical features, it comes to the interpretation of the selected texts which were published within 1998 and 2010. It interprets the works mainly from the thematic point of view and it attempts to determine connections in which the issue and motifs of food appear. It also studies what role is played by food, eating or cooking in Kawakami's work. In selected translated passages it makes an effort to give evidence of certain elements in her work such as: food as means of befriendment, motif of a skilled male cook, inability to cook, which leads to a conflict in a relationship etc. It compares works in which often appear lonely women protagonists longing for love and in which the real world meets the supernatural or the traditional elements meet the modern ones. In order to point out other connections...
