The Study of Relationship among Goal Orientation, Learning Satisfaction, and Learning Performance --Taking Kaohsiung Learning Center Of National Open University as Example
Abstract
Due to the prevalence of Internet and the emerging of knowledge economics, human being in the 21st century are facing rapid changing with greater impact than ever before. The trend of globalization and knowledge explosion results in significant influence imposed upon both education and learning; in particular, lifelong learning in which adult education plays an important role. This thesis presents the results of studying the inter-relationship and interaction among goal orientation, learning satisfaction, and learning performance.
In this research work, the theory on the inter-relationship among goal orientation, learning satisfaction, and learning performance is first constructed. To conduct the quantitative analysis as the investigation through intersection, a questionnaire is developed to take survey on students registered to Kaohsiung Learning Center of National Open University. The objective is to explore the variance, the relationship and the effect imposed, by the goal orientation of these students, upon the learning satisfaction and the learning performance. In addition, an investigation on how the interaction between learning satisfaction and goal orientation affects learning performance is undertaken. Through the analysis, the followings are found:
1. There is significant positive inter-relationship among goal orientation, learning satisfaction, and learning performance.
2. Goal orientation and learning satisfaction impose significant positive effect upon learning performance.
3. Learning orientation was found to have significant moderating effect between learning satisfaction and learning performance.
4. For variables based on gender: female students show greater variance than male students on teaching quality, offered courses, and human relation.
5. For variables based on registration: college students show greater variance than university students of both full registration and partial registration in learning orientation.
6. For variables based on occupations: no significant variance shown in goal orientation, learning satisfaction, and performance orientation.
7. For variables based on study duration: there is considerable variance in avoidance
orientation and human relation among students who have studied for 10 years or longer.
8. For variables based on the times of suspension: students who suspended 4 times or more show greater variance in human relation and social capability.

The dependent variable of this research is the learners¡¦ learning outcomes, including three constructs that are the learning performance, satisfaction and learning efficiency. The subjects of this research are two classes with total of 61 students in the fifth grade of elementary school, the experiment group has 31 students, and the control group has 30 students. Experiment learning topic is decimal division in mathematics of primary school. The learning materials are designed by a professional teacher in the field of mathematics domain. The concept map and instructional flow chart were used to guide the content design.
The result has found that the adaptive learning not only has the same level of learning performance, but also has a higher learning efficiency comparing with the traditional learning. The contributions of this research are; to provide an exemplification of how to design an adaptive learning course using SCORM SSS compliant LMS; to show the advantage that learners don¡¦t have to strict on a fixed learning path like in a traditional courses; and to demonstrate the potential for those competent students who can use less time to complete normal tasks and hence get chances to explore more in depth knowledge.

The effect of learning website on learning performanceChen, Hsieh-Chih 13 February 2007 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of utilizing learning website on the learner¡¦s performance. We chose the learning website of Koa-Yuan university as an experimental platform and investigated student performance in the ¡§Copywriting¡¨ course. Task-Technology Fit¡]TTF) model was used to develop the research framework. We also add ¡§expert guidance¡¨ into this experiment as a moderating variable.
The experimental result shows that task characteristic and technology characteristics well explained the perceived task-technology fit. For all students, the fit level impacts on their learning performance. In the TTF factors, ¡§relationship with users¡¨,¡¨ timeliness¡¨, and ¡§quality¡¨ have more influence on learning performance. For students with ¡§expert guidance¡¨, the effect of ¡§relationship with users¡¨, and ¡§quality¡¨ were significant; while ¡§relationship with users ¡¨and ¡¨ timeliness¡¨ were significant for students without ¡§expert- guidance¡¨.

An investigation of the prevalence and impact of organisational learning in UK police forcesRitchie, Stephen Harvey January 2010 (has links)
This research aims to inform the relevance of Organisational Learning (OL) to policing management practice by investigating its impact and prevalence in UK policing. In the prescriptive literature, OL is propounded as an important aspect of effective organisations that needs to be leveraged. The field of OL is found to be diverse, lacking empirical work, and in need of suitable research techniques. To focus the research, a specific example of OL is proposed in performance management (PM) practice. The PM literature shows the theoretical foundations for practice are underdeveloped. This research addresses this by combining these two fields. As a result, practical data is made available to support an examination of OL and a theoretical basis for PM is developed. In the absence of a suitable model to structure data collection, a new OL model of PM is derived from the literature. A Critical Realist position is adopted which aims to identify the nature of the phenomena underlying OL. Three case studies with UK Police Forces, which involved fifty-two interviewees, were undertaken during 2008. A pilot case study was undertaken in Scotland, with the follow-up case studies in England and Northern Ireland. The data from interviews is analysed in NVivo using a range of coding techniques. Using the results from these case studies, the provisional OL Model of PM is tested and developed further. PM practice is found to involve the creation of knowledge and the creation of action and the relationship to organisational purpose is highlighted. Six elements of the OL process are defined as Attention, Analysis, Advising, Adjusting, Affecting and Achieving. Dimensions influencing PM practice in the cases are identified. The outcomes of the research indicate relevance to policing management practice, as well as to the wider fields of PM practice and OL theory.

Recently, education has been examined by many studies, which reflects its great importance in the context of a nation. The analysis of the educational issue usually involves two aspects: school attendance and quality of education. With regard to Brazilian school attendance, it is known that this variable has had success over the last decade; however, the same can not be said about de quality of educational system. The aim of this research is to analyze the determinants of academic performance of Brazilian children, focusing on the family. The approach will analyze the impact of maternal labor on child educational performance and the role of the family in child school activities. The first study uses data from two sub-samples of Pesquisa Mensal de Emprego (PME), referring to periods from 1986 to 1995 and from 2002 to 2006. In the second approach, will be used data from Sistema Nacional de Avaliação da Educação Básica (SAEB) of 2005, where will be examined the students performance of the fourth series of primary school. The results, in general, show that family factors were relevant for child school performance, considering the negative effect of maternal employment and the positive effects of some variables of investment and family interaction.
