Abstract: “O Grande Circo Místico”, is a poem written by Jorge de Lima which is in A túnica inconsútil, a book from the top of spiritualist phase of the poet. Two adaptations for ballet were done based on this poem. They were named as the poem and presented in 1983 and 2002. Both of them had a good reception in the society and by the criticalsand have been not only in all the country but also in Portugal. This search intends to crify how the poem interpretations occured analysing the way that the poetic language was adapted to the theater and also checking the changes or mantainanas in teh literary elements. There will be verified as well how the readers, public and criticlas from that epoc received “O Grande Circo Místico” based on Reception Theory by Hans Robert Jauss and Wolfgang Iser and Sociology of Literature by Roger Chartier.

Nesse sentido, este texto pretende analisar Invenção de Orfeu como possível projeto ¿utópico¿ de Jorge de Lima, evidenciado pelo tema/imagem da ¿ilha¿, metáfora chave e aglutinadora e de seus núcleos temáticos derivantes: a infância, o onírico e o órfico / Abstract: From the perspective of this study Invenção de Orfeu is analyzed as a poetical extension of the previous poetry of Jorge de Lima; thus, all of his other books would be fragments of ¿a bigger¿ book, which is within Invenção de Orfeu. It is about the search of a utopian world, but of a utopia different from its original sense; in the works of this Brazilian poet, the search for the poetical perfection happens from the movement, in respect to the form as well as to the content, opposing the static perfection of the island of Thomas Morus. It is the search for the ¿Lost paradise¿ or for the origin associated with the utopian function of literature to change the world, throughout its verbal recreation, of the transcendental and the imaginary one. Os procedimentos de composição adotados pelo poeta refletem sua consciência de leitura, através da qual é possível entrever as suas reflexões críticas da história e da cultura, conforme teoria de João Alexandre Barbosa. Dentre os diversos procedimentos e tendências da obra poética limiana, encontramos aspectos marcadamente simbolistas, tais como a musicalidade, o dualismo, a ironia e a analogia, os quais ainda não foram explorados sistematicamente. Nossa pesquisa propõe a investigação desses aspectos na poesia de Jorge de Lima, tendo em vista a importância do Simbolismo para a constituição da consciência e da criação literária modernas. Esse estudo comporta o exame da manifestação das duas tendências simbolistas citadas por Edmund Wilson em O Castelo de Axel: a coloquial-irônica e a sério-estética, encontradas respectivamente em Poemas, Poemas Novos, Poemas Negros, no Livro de Sonetos e em Invenção de Orfeu. Desse modo, a pesquisa busca contribuir para o resgate da historicidade da poesia limiana, de modo a fornecer elementos que ampliem o conhecimento sobre a obra de um de nossos maiores poetas e, além disso, complementar a leitura sobre o impacto da proposta simbolista e seus alcances na poesia moderna brasileira / The work of Jorge de Lima contains the main guidelines of Brazilian poetry in the first half of the twentieth century. The compositional procedures adopted by the poet reflects his awareness of reading, through which is possible see the critical reflections of history and culture as João Alexandre Barbosa’s theory. Among the many procedures and trends in Lima’s poetry, we found markedly symbolist aspects, such as musicality, dualism, irony and analogy, which have not yet been systematically explored. Our research proposes the investigation of these aspects in his poetry, in view of the importance of symbolism for the formation of consciousness and modern literary creation. This study involves the examination of two trends symbolists cited by Edmund Wilson in Axel's Castle: the “conversational-ironic” and “serious-aesthetic”, found respectively in Poemas, Novos poemas, Poemas Negros, e no Livro de Sonetos e Invenção de Orfeu. Thus, the research seeks to contribute to the rescue of the historicity of Lima’s poetry, to provide elements that increase the knowledge about the work of one of our greatest poets, and in addition, supplementary reading on the impact of the symbolist proposal and its achievements in Brazilian modern poetry

Considering the workmanship a symbolic universe, it searchs to unmask the existing paradox around silence and of the words, in a metapoetics analysis, aiming at to the joint between word/silence and silence/painting. It tries to trace the passage of the poetical tradition, since Aristotle until works on the structure of modern lyrics, where Invenção de Orfeu if fits. For this, the workmanship of Hugo Friedrich was basic. In the studied text, the poet, such which Orfeu, god of music and the poetry, is launched in a trip to the search of the self-knowledge and the poetical inspiration. In an attempt to disclose sensible in a workmanship full of stylistic artifices, the presence of silence gained prominence. It was analysed like the area of the meaning, as the Emptiness of Mallarmé or the Nothing of Rimbaud, product of the metric one, of mimesis, metaphor, intertextual dialog among works, intersemiotics and a cosmogonical idea of the poem, as a synthesis of the human being literary trajectory. The ideas of Júlio Plaza had given base for the analysis of some excerpts of the poem in intersemiotical dialogue with screens of the author, evidencing that word, form and silence reverberate multiple meanings. Texts of Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Carlos Drummond de Andrade had also contributed for this dialogue. The result of the research was the briefing of important questions of literary praxis, showing that word and silence are also transforming and integrative forces in art / Este trabalho estuda a poeticidade em Invenção de Orfeu, de Jorge de Lima, e procura traçar uma relação intersemiótica entre partes do poema e algumas produções pictóricas do autor. Considerando a obra um universo simbólico, busca desvendar o paradoxo existente em torno do silêncio e das palavras, numa análise metapoética, visando à articulação entre palavra/silêncio e silêncio/pintura. Tenta traçar o percurso da tradição poética, desde Aristóteles até trabalhos sobre a estrutura da lírica moderna, em que Invenção de Orfeu se enquadra. Para isso, a obra de Hugo Friedrich foi fundamental. No texto estudado, o poeta, tal qual Orfeu, deus da música e da poesia, lança-se em uma viagem à procura do autoconhecimento e da inspiração poética. Numa tentativa de descortinar sentidos em uma obra repleta de artifícios estilísticos, a presença do silêncio ganhou destaque. Ele foi analisado como um vão da significação, como o Vazio de Mallarmé ou o Nada de Rimbaud, produto da métrica, da mimese, da metáfora, da intertextualidade, da intersemiótica e da idéia cosmogônica do poema, como uma síntese das trajetórias humana e literária. As idéias de Júlio Plaza deram base para a análise de vários excertos do poema em diálogo intersemiótico com telas do autor, evidenciando que palavra, forma e silêncio reverberam múltiplos significados. Textos de Maurice Merleau-Ponty e Carlos Drummond de Andrade também contribuíram para esse diálogo. O resultado da pesquisa foi a elucidação de questões importantes da prática literária, mostrando que tanto a palavra como o silêncio são forças ao mesmo tempo transformadoras e integradoras na arte

A presente tese analisa as representações do feminino no Poema Invenção de Orfeu, de Jorge de Lima, com base nas teorias de C. G. Jung. Apresenta uma exposição sucinta dos conceitos básicos da teoria junguiana. Efetua uma análise da totalidade da obra, com um levantamento quantitativo e um mapeamento dos temas apresentados. Conclui que há um eixo narrativo que tem relação com epopeias clássicas e com o mito do herói. Identifica nas Musas Lenora, Inês e Beatriz as principais representações do feminino e demonstra que estas representações do feminino ocorrem paralelamente à evolução do eixo narrativo, contribuindo para sua definição. Efetua uma análise métrica, rítmica, fônica e morfológica dos poemas dedicados às Musas principais. A seguir, as imagens apresentadas são analisadas numa perspectiva junguiana, situando-as no eixo narrativo. As demais representações do feminino no Poema são apresentadas e analisadas na sequência em que ocorrem. Na conclusão, efetua uma análise geral das representações do feminino na obra e verifica a eficácia do ferramental junguiano na interpretação da obra. / This thesis examines the representations of the feminine in the Poem Invenção de Orfeu, de Jorge de Lima, based on the theories of C. G. Jung. Presents a brief summary of the basic concepts of Jungian theory. Performs an analysis of the whole work, with a quantitative survey and mapping of the topics presented. Concludes that there is a narrative axis that is related to classic epics and the hero myth. Identifies the Muses Lenore, Inês and Beatrice as the main representations of the feminine and demonstrates that these representations occur in parallel with the evolution of the narrative axis, contributing to its definition. Performs a metric, rhythmic, phonetic and morphological analysis of the poems dedicated to the main Muses. Next, the images presented are analyzed in a Jungian perspective, placing them in the narrative axis. The other representations of the feminine in the Poem are presented and analyzed in the sequence they occur. In conclusion, makes a general analysis of representations of the feminine in the work, and verifies the effectiveness of the Jungian tools in the interpretation of the work.
