Předpjatá stropní konstrukce nákupního centra / The prestressed floor construction of the shopping centre

Miechová, Zuzana January 2012 (has links)
The aim of the Master´s thesis is to design the prestressed floor construction of the shopping centre. The construction is supported by the columns with the maximal span dimensions 16,0*16,6 m. The design is made according to the VSL (VSL International Ltd.)slab system - post-tensioned slab prestressed by the unbonded system of 4 monostrand units. In the thesis there is also made a simplified design of the reinforced concrete floor construction supported with the bigger amount of the columns. It is made a comparison of the both types of the floor slabs and the evaluation of their advantages and disadvantages. The statical analysis and the calculation of the internal forces is assessed by the program Nexis 3.60.15 32.

Eliasson, Daniel, Carlsson, Olle January 2023 (has links)
The construction industry contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, making it crucial to explore sustainable materials to reduce its impact. This study focuses on foundation systems for small wooden houses in Sweden, where concrete slabs are replaced with cross-laminated timber (CLT) to decrease climate impact. Due to concrete's high compressive strength, an analysis of the edge beam's capacity was done. Four edge beam alternatives are examined: CLT/EPS400, CLT/Foamglas, CLT/EPS s100, and EPS400. The study also evaluates the current dimensioning in strength calculations. Compression strength test data is used to compare with expected results and determine if the calculation model "2:1 method" is sufficient. The aim is to assess the possibilities for use in two house types from a leading house manufacturer in Sweden. The environmental impact of the alternatives is calculated using IVL Swedish Environmental Institute's tool, BM, where a concrete foundation is also compared. There is also a brief insight into the differences in production between a traditional concrete foundation and Klaragrunden. The findings indicated that the single-story villa Lycke can be constructed using CLT and EPS s100, while the 1.5-story villa Tyresund can explore possibilities with CLT and Foamglas T4+. Moreover, the study revealed that the CLT and EPS s400 combination yielded the best average foundation. By replacing the concrete in a ground slab with CLT, it is possible to reduce the CO2 emissions from the foundation by 65-68%.

Capacity assessment of arch bridges with backfill : Case of the old Årsta railway bridge

Andersson, Andreas January 2011 (has links)
The work presented in this thesis comprises the assessment of existing arch bridges with overlying backfill. The main objective is to estimate the load carrying capacity in ultimate limit state analysis. A case study of the old Årsta railway bridge is presented, serving as both the initiation and a direct application of the present research. The demand from the bridge owner is to extend the service life of the bridge by 50 years and increase the allowable axle load from 22.5 to 25 metric tonnes. The performed analyses show a great scatter in estimated load carrying capacity, depending on a large number of parameters. One of the factors of main impact is the backfill material, which may result a significant increase in load carrying capacity due to the interaction with the arch barrel. Based on theoretical analyses, extensive conditional assessments and the demand from the bridge owner, it was decided that the bridge needed to be strengthened. The author, in close collaboration with both the bridge owner and the persons performing the conditional assessment, performed the development of a suitable strengthening. The analyses showed a pronounced three-dimensional behaviour, calling for a design using non-linear finite element methods. Due to demands on full operability during strengthening, a scheme was developed to attenuate any decrease in load carrying capacity. The strengthening was accepted by the bridge owner and is currently under construction. It is planned to be finalised in 2012. The application of field measurements to determine the structural manner of action under serviceability loads are presented and have shown to be successful. Measured strain of the arch barrel due to passing train has been performed, both before, during and after strengthening. The results serve as input for model calibration and verification of the developed strengthening methods. The interaction of the backfill was not readily verified on the studied bridge and the strengthening was based on the assumption that both the backfill and the spandrel walls contributed as dead weight only. The finite element models are benchmarked using available experimental results in the literature, comprising masonry arch bridges with backfill loaded until failure. Good agreement is generally found if accounting for full interaction with the backfill. Similarly, accounting for the backfill as dead weight only, often results in a decrease in load carrying capacity by a factor 2 to 3. Still, several factors show a high impact on the estimated load carrying capacity, of which many are difficult to accurately assess. This suggests a conservative approach, although partial interaction of the backfill may still increase the load carrying capacity significantly. / QC 20110426

Železobetonová konstrukce vysoké administrativní budovy / The concrete structure of a high office building

Skuhravý, František January 2018 (has links)
Aim of The Diploma Thesis was to design load-bearing structure of a multi-storey reinforced concrete building, to realize structural analysis in Dlubal-RFEM software and dimension its selected parts. Designed structure is based on already erected building in office edifices campus in Brno-Slatina district. Its original number of storeys was increased from ten to nineteen, so the specific problems connected to high-rise building designing could be solved. Time dependent deformations of vertical structures were analysed in detail, so the changes in load of horizontal elements could be described more precisely, because of its direct dependence on compression of the columns. Within the paper, foundation structure dimensions were designed, assessment and design of composite columns assembly were made, as well of floor slab in 2nd floor with column deformations impact check on the 17th floor. Also, the external walls, pillars and shear core walls were designed and assessed. Formwork drawing of designed structure parts and detailed drawing of reinforcement of assessed elements were elaborated. Based on Diploma Thesis results it can be stated, that if influence of nonuniform load of vertical structures within the high-rise building designing is neglected, consequent project would presumably be uneconomic, or dangerous after an optimization attempts.

Dálniční viadukt / Motorway Viaduct

Polách, Marek January 2015 (has links)
The thesis is a design of a bridge crossing the valley of the Hrabyňka creek as a part of road I/II. Firstly, three possible structures are designed and according to their advantages and disadvantages, the best of them is selected. In this case a cable stay bridge was selected. Following is a design of span lenghths, collumn heights and the cross-section. Then the loads are detremined and applied on a numeric model cretaed in software working on the basis of FEM. In continuation internal forces are calculated and their propriate combinations for service limit stay and ultimate limit state with time dependent analysis taken into account. In the end the reinforcement steel is designed for one part of the structure. Detailed drawings are also part of the thesis.
