Glauber Rocha, ensaísta do Brasil / Glauber Rocha, essayist of Brazil

Rebechi Junior, Arlindo 05 August 2011 (has links)
Glauber Rocha (19391981), Brazilian filmmaker and exponent of Cinema Novo, has acted in several contexts of the intelligentsia and culture of Brazil. This thesis examines his essay\'s practice manifested in their written production that circulated in the mainstream press, in the alternative media, in the literary and cultural magazines and books, between the late 1950s and early 1980s. The method which is used is interdisciplinary and includes two analytical perspectives: the intellectual trajectory of Glauber in harmony with the analysis of his essay\'s practice. In this thesis, we will discuss: the positions of the Glauber inscribed in the Brazilian cultural field at different times; his viewpoint of cultural and political practices in Brazil; and the strategies developed by Glauber, in his essay, that reveal his process of consecration and rejection in the cultural and intellectual context of his experiences as a Brazilian artist.

Dozo, Björn-Olav 31 August 2007 (has links)

Le discours beur comme positionnement littéraire : Romans et textes autobiographiques franςais (2005-2006) d'auteurs issus de l'immigration maghrébine / Beur discourse as literary positioning : Novels and autobiographical narratives (2005-2006) by French writers of North African origin

Olsson, Kenneth January 2011 (has links)
The subject of this thesis is the contemporary literature written by the sons and daughters of North African immigrant families in France. Its main area of investigation is the place of this literature in the French literary field, in the Bourdieusian sense of the term, and the discursive features which motivate the ethnic based label of “Beur literature”. The study has a double approach in investigating both the argument for the socio-ethnic categorisation, and the reception of this literature in the French press. The literary corpus consists of twenty works from 2005 and 2006 by eighteen Beur writers. Thirteen of these works are subject to literary analysis. These are novels by Akli Tadjer, Zahia Rahmani, Faïza Guène, Mabrouck Rachedi, El Driss, Mohamed Razane, Houda Rouane, Nora Hamdi, Nor Eddine Boudjedia and Touhami Moualek, and three autobiographical narratives written by Razika Zitouni, Abel El Quandili and Aziz Senni. The press corpus from the corresponding period covers 14 titles of French national and regional daily papers, 8 titles of weekly general press and 6 titles of periodicals of literary and social debate. According to my hypothesis, the Beur fiction and the autobiographical narratives of my corpus are based on a common discourse that is expressed through certain literary means. A frequent strategy found in the novels is the subversion of French classics. Another feature is the constant referral to the French republican values. The novels share the latter of these two strategies with the autobiographical stories. This can be interpreted as resulting from a communication between a literary discourse and a social discourse which points toward a common ideological foundation. It also reveals the specific “Frenchness” of a literature that is often classified as “francophone” rather than “French” literature. The study of the journalistic reception confirms this aspect by the frequent referral of its authors to their ethnic and social origins.

However, besides experiencing the social tensions of his time, the writer searches for his autonomy as a literary creator, absorbing and reinterpreting the tradition. Thus, in the analysis of literary project of Gerardo Mello Mourão from (Jan., 8th, 1917 to March, 9th 2007), we outline firstly, a historical and cultural panel of the period his work was created with O Valete de Espadas (1960). Such investigation receives the theoretical critical orientation of Antronio Candido’s, Literature and Society (2000), Wilson Martins’, História da Intelectualidade Brasileira (1996), Gilberto de Mello Kujawski’s, A Crise do Século XX (1991), Vitor Manuel de Aguiar e Silva’s, Teoria da Literatura (1973) Pierre Bourdieu’s discussive pressuposition, The Rules of Art (2005) and Dominique Maingueneau with The context of the Literary work (2001). Moreover, we investigated the philosophical and aesthetical tendency of the period which interrelates with the writer’s critical positioning regarding the world around him as well as with his notion about literary writing. At the light of theoretical categories such as “Misreading” (Harold Bloom) and intertextuality (Julia Kristeva), we inquired into the 2nd chapter, the literary and critical work, Gerardo Melo Mourão’s interviews and speeches with the purpose of learning about a dialogue which is creative and traditional. In such analysis, the critical writings which were base for our reflexions were: A Angústia da Influência (1991) and Um Mapa da Desleitura (1995) by Harold Bloom as well as Palavras da Crítica (1992), organized by José Luis Jobim. In the final part of the research we observed the discursive intercourse that Gerardo Mourão keeps with other writers searching for a space of autonomous emancipation.

The current task aims to analyze how Luiz Ruffato moves himself at Brazilian’s literary field studying how the writer situates Inferno provisório, books set released by the author between 2005 and 2011, in this space. What is intended here is an study about a writer’s trajectory, in order to read his stances and a particular position that he tries to institute. The task is divided in five chapters. In the first one, we seek to ascertain the writer’s formation process, investigating his incorporation of habitus and its possible formulation on artistic practices. For doing this, we analyze autobiographical reports with which Ruffato inserts himself on the literary field, public texts (interviews and statements) through which the author establishes a position; building a self image on whose basic characteristics we shall reflect. It’s also important for the study about Ruffato’s formation process, his first literary experiments, first steps on the literary field that, however, reveals procedures and position that will be potentiated in future moments. On the second chapter, we’ll try to understand the beginning of Ruffato’s professional trajectory analyzing his first three books. On this chapter, the strategies that the author adopts do insert his work on the literary field interest us, the relations and approximations with literary series that he provides in order to create a singular position, how the author build movementes. The third chapter establishes a relation with Inferno provisório. In this point, our goal is to maintain the type of analysis present in the second chapter, but now with the set of books published between 2005 and 2011. About everything, we analyze the presence of the project in public texts in the late 1990’s, positioning its remarkable features, detours and the places that the author occupies in the production field. The last two chapters search to reveal Ruffato´s movements in Inferno provisório’s writing. Reading the five volumes of the set we try to ascertain if there is a possibility for the literary writing to be considered as a carrier of author’s positioning, the place that he tries to occupy on literary field, the self image that he builds to conclude this objective.

Les choix des bibliothécaires ou la fabrication des valeurs littéraires en bibliothèque de lecture publique / Librarians’ choices or the making of literary values in public libraries

Rabot, Cécile 06 October 2011 (has links)
Crossing literature and sociology, this dissertation studies the process of production of literary values through the work of books’ intermediaries, here librarians of public libraries, when they choose literary books to build collections or to point out a part of the collections. It is based on a survey conducted between 2004 and 2010 in Paris’ libraries network through observation (working sessions and meetings), interviews with librarians, quantitative analysis of parts of libraries catalog and textual analysis. The first part of the dissertation analyzes the institutional frame of public policies regarding readership development, examining the models of reading they promote and the reality of cultural democratization. The second part considers the policies of acquisition and the way they may reconfigure the scale of genres. The last part studies three promotion devices, that try to reconcile answer to demand and supply policies. The dissertation stresses the link between librarians’ choices, their relation to their profession, their conception of public reading and their position within literary field : having a double requirement for quality and accessibility, they promote middlebrow values, and books that have to provide both pleasure and knowledge. In doing so they take part to the process of “auctorialization”, pretending to discover authors and contributing to the perpetuation of their consecration.

Le Romantisme portugais : contrastes et résonances / Portuguese Romanticism : contrast and resonance

Rodrigues-Sobreira, Luís Alexandre 06 December 2010 (has links)
Enfin, Maria! / Modeled on the vision of the nationalist movement’s leaders and oriented towards the literary innovative texts, the institutional image of the Portugese Romanticism is a distorted, partial and a static one. Combining the socio-literary analysis of four works of fiction, representative of the main lines of confrontation both for their aesthetic and ideological values, and the historical analysis of book translations, this study brings to the foreground the various constituent poles of the Portuguese literary field between 1840 and 1860 and shows its polyphonic complexity. A conflict between social models and literary conservatives and progressives is therefore depicted through the « civic literature » (symbolically dominant) and incarnated by A Virgem da Polónia, by J.J.R.Bastos, and Eurico, O Presbitero, by Alexandre Herculano. As for A Mão do Finado, by Alfredo Possolo Hogan, it sheds light on the emergence of the “literary industrialism”. Finally, Maria! Não me mates, que sou tua mãe!, by Camilo Castelo Branco, represents the sustainability of the chapbooks and for its author the beginning of a career of «professional of letters». The last section is devoted to the consideration of translated literature (reasons for success or absence of some authors) and the method of nationalization that Castilho applied to it in order to perpetuate the established order.

Tommy Wieringa jakožto autor (pro) 21. století: spisovatel uvnitř a vně literárního provozu / Tommy Wieringa as a 21st century author: the writer within and outside the publishing sphere

Vítek, Lukáš January 2017 (has links)
(English) The aim of this master thesis is to analyse the fiction of Tommy Wieringa, specifically in relation to the concept of the posture developed by Jérôme Meizoz. The distinction between the internal posture and the external posture is essential in this theory. Therefore, there can arise a tension between both images of the author (i.e., in the terminology of Daniël Rovers, between auteursfiguur and figuurauteur). This thesis is based on the question if this statement is valid in case of the work of Wieringa. Keywords: Wieringa, author's posture, author's image, literary identity, self-fashioning, authorship, the literary field
