Esta dissertação trata das percepções da personalidade de marca global e dos valores de consumidores de duas diferentes culturas, visando contribuir com pesquisadores e profissionais de marketing para o melhor entendimento de como uma marca global é percebida em contextos culturais diferentes. Dessa forma, o presente trabalho objetivou identificar as percepções da personalidade da marca McDonald’s e os valores por parte de consumidores brasileiros e peruanos, através das escalas de Personalidade da Marca de Aaker (1997) e de Valores de Rokeach (1973). Para tanto, a coleta de dados foi realizada através de questionário aplicado a estudantes universitários de ambos os países. Os resultados encontrados demonstraram que existem importantes diferenças na percepção da personalidade da marca McDonald’s e dos valores dos consumidores no Brasil e no Peru. Além disso, também foram encontradas diferenças, em menor grau, entre as universidades de cada país. Por fim, sugestões para pesquisas futuras estão contempladas na dissertação. / This work discusses about perceptions on global brand’s personality and consumers’ values attached to it of from the perspective of two different cultures. This analysis is a significant contribution to marketing researchers and professionals, as it adds empirical evidence to the understanding of how global brands are perceived in two different cultural contexts. Specifically, the objective of this project was to identify perceptions toward the McDonalds’ brand personality and consumer values of Brazilians and Peruvians through the application of the scales of Brand Personality of Aaker (1997) and Values of Rokeach – RVS (1973). The research, then, was undertaken trough an instrument of collection, applied to Brazilian and Peruvian students. Results show that there are relevant differences on McDonalds’ brand personality perception and values between Brazilian and Peruvian consumers. In addition less important differences were also found among students across different universities in-country. Finally, suggestions for future researches are contemplated in the work.

Particle dispersion in aluminium and magnesium alloys

High shear mixing offers a promising solution for particle dispersion in a liquid with intensive turbulence and high shear rate, and has been widely used in the chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries. However, a practical high shear mixing process has not yet been adapted to solve the particle agglomeration in metallurgy due to the high service temperature and reactive environment of liquid metal. In this study, the effect of high shear mixing using the newly designed rotor-stator high shear device have been investigated with both Al and Mg matrix composites reinforced with SiC particles through casting. The microstructural observation of high shear treated Al and Mg composites show improved particle distribution uniformity in the as-cast state. Increased mechanical properties and reduced volume fraction of porosity are also obtained in the composite samples processed with high shear. With the melt conditioning procedure developed for twin roll casting process, two distinct solutions has been provided for thin gauge Mg strip casting with advanced microstructure and defect control. The melt conditioning treatment activates the MgO as heterogeneous nuclei of α-Mg through dispersion from continuous films to discrete particles. Thus enhanced heterogeneous nucleation in the twin roll casting process not only refines the α-Mg grain size but also eliminates the centre line segregation through equiaxed grain growth and localized solute distribution. The grain refinement of the α-Mg through SiC addition has also been studied through EBSD and crystallographic approaches. Two reproducible and distinct crystallographic orientation relationships between α-SiC (6H) and α-Mg have been determined: [1010]SiC//[2113]Mg, (0006)SiC//(1011)Mg, (1216)SiC//(2202)Mg and [0110]SiC//[1100]Mg, (0006)SiC// (0002)Mg, (2110)SiC//(1120)Mg.

Studium vlastností laserových svarů materiálu Domex 700 MC při využití obloukového předehřevu / Study of properties of laser welds of Domex 700 MC material using arc preheating

This thesis deals with the study of influence of preheating/reheating by TIG arc method in the laser welding process of Domex 700 MC fine-grained steel through the evaluation of laser-welds properties, respectively properties of welds made by laser-TIG hybrid technology. The main part of this thesis is experiment, in which Domex 700 MC plates 3 mm thick were welded – first using laser itself, then using laser with arc preheating and finally using laser with arc reheating. The variable parameter during the processes preheating or reheating was distance of TIG tungsten electrode and laser beam (DLA = 1 mm, 2 mm and 4 mm). The criterion for the assessment of welds properties thus produced was tensile strength verified by the tensile test. For a more detailed study of the laser-welds properties, a macrostructure / weld microstructure analysis and a Vickers hardness test were performed.

Mechatronische Produktionsmaschinen werden nicht mehr nur über ihren Leistungsumfang bewertet, sondern auch über die mitgebrachten Tools für Engineeringaufgaben. Wie erste Ansätze zeigen, erweitert die Integration von TCP/IP in die Steuerungsebene die Möglichkeiten zur Unterstützung des Anwenders nicht nur im Fertigungsprozess, sondern nahezu über den gesamten Lebenszyklus. Die Dissertation beschreibt einen E-Service zur Inbetriebnahme von Lagereglern an Bewegungssteuerungen. Im Rahmen der prototypischen Realisierung erfolgt der Aufbau eines Dienstleistungsportals in einem Computernetz. Es übernimmt eine zentrale Rolle in der Kommunikationsstruktur. Aufgaben rund um die Dienstverwaltung, Dienstausführung und Dienstkommunikation von verteilten Programmen bilden hier die Schwerpunkte. Die Einordnung der realisierten und favorisierten Reglerinbetriebnahme erfolgt in die Gruppe der Offline-Verfahren. Auf dem gewählten Zielsystem, der Bewegungssteuerung SIMOTION von Siemens, läuft dabei der Echtzeitteil ab. Die Offline-Komponente mit den Identifikations- und Reglerberechnungsprogrammen wird im Anwender-Browser ausgeführt. Das System bildet zusammen einen internetbasierten, automatischen Service.

Metodologie přípravy vzorků pro měření izotopických poměrů stříbra v archeologických vzorcích / Silver separation technique for isotopic measurement in archaeological samples

Silver isotopes nowadays present a very fast evolving system. One of the field in which this isotopic system is used is archaeology where the silver isotopes are used as a tracer of monetary and power changes between geographical regions. Through statistical analysis of measured data and their comparison with so far published values can be estimated probability of common source area of metal used for coinage. On Celtic coin samples (180-70 BC) provided by the Institute of Archaeology of the CAS, Prague (A. Danielisová) the isotopic composition of silver was measured. Silver was separated from the matrix elements by a method which uses ascorbic acid to precipitate silver. However, the weights of samples commonly used for this method are generally distinctly higher than the amounts of the obtained fragments of Celtic coins. Regarding the differences in the method and low weights of fragments, tests with variable concentrations of ascorbic acid and amounts of silver were performed. The amounts of silver used for this method are commonly ~30x-70x higher. The results showed that this method effectively separates silver from matrix elements and is sufficient for higher concentrations of silver; with lower ones the yields are reduced. Manoeuvre Coordination : Assuring safety in overtaking

The frightful statistics regarding road accidents draws a dreadful picture for individuals, communities, and nations across the globe. The number of fatalities exceeds a million every year. To address this issue, an initiative called Vision Zero was introduced first in Sweden 1997. The goal is to reach zero road fatalities and severe injuries by 2045. However, to achieve this goal, Vision Zero is being divided in 4 categories, called Days. Day 4 represents fully automated, cooperative, and connected mobility (CCAM). Now, one of the typical cases that causes road accidents is overtaking. CCAM is a way to enhance safety in such cases. Therefore, this thesis proposes a system that is based on Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication where vehicles exchange their intentions and cooperatively perform overtaking manoeuvres. The prevalent approach nowadays is depending on the vehicles’ onboard sensors only, blocking it from having knowledge about the intentions of other actors. Thus, it prevents vehicles from cooperation and coordination. We evaluate the performance of our approach and compare it against the sensors only approach. We show that the proposed approach outperforms the prevalent one in performance. Therefore, vehicle communication must be considered in the upcoming mobility for higher accuracy and safety. / Den skrämmande statistiken angående trafikolyckor tecknar en fruktansvärd bild för individer, samhällen och nationer över världen. Antalet dödsfall överstiger en miljon varje år. Ett initiativ som kallas Vision Zero introducerades i Sverige 1997, vars syfte är att ta itu med detta problem. Målet är att nå noll trafik dödsfall, och allvarliga skador år 2045. För att verkställa det målet, Vision Zero delades in i 4 kategorier, som kallas för Dagar. Dag 4 representerar fullt automatiserad, kooperativ och kommunikativ mobilitet (CCAM). Ett av det vanligaste fallen som orsaker trafikolyckor är omkörningar. CCAM är ett sätt att förbättra säkerheten i sådana fall. Därför presenterar denna avhandling ett system som bygger på fordon-till-fordon (Vehicle-to-Vehicle V2V) kommunikation. Detta system tillåter fordon att utbyta avsikter för att samarbeta och utföra säkra omkörningar. Den ledande teknologin nuförtiden beror enbart av fordonens sensorer, vilket hindrar dem från att ha kunskap om andra aktörers avsikter. Därmed hindrar det dem från att samarbeta. Vi utvärderar prestandan av vårt system och jämför det med den ledande teknologin. Vi visar att vårt system är överlägsen det ledande sättet (dvs. enbart sensorer) i prestanda. Därför måste fordon kommunikation tas hänsyn till i kommande mobilitet för högre noggrannhet och säkerhet.
