Utvärdering av valideringstjänst för lösenord byggd på segmenteringsalogritm : Introducering av Moses segmenteringsalgoritm / Evaluation of password validation service based on segmentation algorithm : Introducing the Moses segmentation algorithm

Hjertstedt, Karl January 2023 (has links)

Yassine, Yassine, Dia, Jaffar Alammar January 2009 (has links)

Mass spectrometric studies of the biological fate of platinum-based drugs and selenium supplementation in cancer chemotherapy

Taylor, Sarah E. January 2014 (has links)
Platinum-based drugs are an important group of alkylating-like agents which are used in cancer chemotherapy treatment. Cisplatin and oxaliplatin in particular are still commonly used today and are the focus of this thesis. As with most chemotherapy drugs, the efficacy of these drugs are limited by toxicity as well as tumour resistance, and therefore by increasing our understanding of these areas it is hoped to one day achieve personalised chemotherapy. The use of ICP-MS in the study of bio-sciences is still relatively new, however it has the ability to provide robust, fast and accurate methods for the quantification of platinum in biological samples. The research presented here utilised mass spectrometry in the study of the formation of Pt-DNA adducts in the clinical samples, the binding of oxaliplatin to short peptides and the effect of selenium supplementation on oxaliplatin in colorectal cancer cell lines. A comparison in the number of Pt-DNA adducts in saliva and leukocyte samples obtained from patients undergoing Pt-based chemotherapy demonstrated a lack of correlation between the two sample types. Samples were taken pre- and post-treatment and analysed via SF-ICP-MS and significant inter-patient variability was observed as expected. In both leukocyte and saliva samples, not only was Pt from previous chemotherapy cycles observed, but Pt was detected in the DNA in both sample types 1 hour after treatment. However a lack of correlation between platinum levels seen in the blood and saliva, combined with unexpected difficulties obtaining patient adherence to the saliva sampling protocol, indicated that saliva does not at present offer a reliable alternative to leukocytes for this assay. The binding of oxaliplatin to short nitrogen and sulfur rich peptides was investigated. Platinum binding to the peptides was observed and no significant differences in the level of binding were observed between the range of N and S rich peptides studied in this investigation. Partly due to the inability to reproduce biological conditions in this study, oxaliplatin was observed as a whole molecule, and furthermore dimers and multimers were also observed. The effect of selenium supplementation on the total cellular uptake of platinum was investigated in cultured cells via ICP-MS and LA-ICP-MS. It was observed that selenium decreased the amount of Pt taken up by the cancer cells. This was seen in analysis of populations of cells as well as by single cell analysis. Furthermore, while problems were encountered measuring selenium in subcellular experiments, the effect of selenium on the subcellular distribution of platinum as well as the number of Pt-DNA adducts could be determined.

Strukturně- a sekvenčně-závislá identifikace funkčně významných aminokyselin v proteinové rodině. / Structure- and sequence-based identification of functionally important amino acids in a protein family

Peclinovská, Iveta January 2015 (has links)
A group of small GTPases consist of over twenty protein families in the super class P-loop. It has a very diverse cell functions. Small GTPases regulate the formation of vesicular follicles, cytoskeleton and nuclear transport. They participate also on cell proliferation and signaling. The aim of my work is to find important amino acids that define family and distinguish each other. I focus on families Arf, Rab, Ran, Ras and Rho. At the Rho family I am also devoted to classes Rho, Rac and Cdc42. Amino acids are identified using bioinformatic programs selected Consurf and Sca5. The objective is also to test P2RANK specialized tool developed at the Charles University in Prague that predict ligand binding sites from protein structure in different families. Founding amino acids can have a big role in the functional divergence of individual families and classes of small GTPases and can be the basis for future study example for the proliferation of cancerous cells. 1.1 Keywords Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Krebs, Stéphane 21 July 2006 (has links) (PDF)

The Effects of a Quality Grading System on the Development of Consumer Driven Best Practice Value Chains: The Example of Meat Standards Australia

Bott, Gregory 11 1900 (has links)
This research project analyzes the beef grading system in Australia. Firstly, the Meat Standards Australia (MSA) grading system as a potential value-creating and value chain-coordinating mechanism is investigated. In-depth interviews with value chain stakeholders and industry experts suggest that the implementation of the MSA grading system has had a catalytic effect of moving value chains toward a greater level of coordination. The concept of best value supply chains is also used as a benchmark in determining MSAs effect on value chain performance. Secondly, using a survey of Australian consumers, findings suggest that the MSA certification is perceived as a trustworthy signal for tenderness and quality, reducing information asymmetry at the consumer level. This thesis then addresses the questions of whether or not it is necessary to use a grading system in consumer marketing (e.g. quality label) in order to be successful in terms of adding value to the industry. / Agricultural and Resource Economics
