Formação continuada em mídias na educação : um estudo sobre as contribuições do programa na perspectiva dos egressos / Continuing education in media in education : a study on the contributions of the program in view of the graduates

Santana, Clésia Maria Hora 12 December 2011 (has links)
This study analyzes the contribution of the specialization in Media in Education, offered in the state of Sergipe, and was subject twenty-three teachers from first class training and conclusive that they develop their activities in public schools located in different cities in Sergipe. This is a qualitative study with a case study approach, which used as instruments of data collection: desk research, questionnaire and semistructured interviews. For the treatment of data was performed content analysis that allowed data to be grouped into four categories: continuing education teacher; difficulties presented in the course of training, changes in teaching practice; skills to deal with ICT. This design aims to answer the central question of this study: how teachers who completed the course of Specialization in Media in Education, the State of Sergipe, realize the contributions of this training to their practice? In this sense, the general objective was to investigate how teachers graduating the first class of Specialization in Media in Education, the state of Sergipe, realize the contributions of this training in their teaching. The testimony of teachers allowed to emphasize positive and negative aspects of the training study, which may be considered in times of restructuring or new offerings, since the data emphasize the continuing education of teachers as a prerequisite for such integration is not a set mere transposition of old practices, with veneer of modernity. The study points to an attempt incipient change in teaching practice and the incorporation of media resources available in an effort to promote new forms of teaching and learning, and proves that the course contributed to a change in teachers' practice, as well as confirming the belief that continuing education courses for teachers, as well as necessary, should be offered regularly.

Leite, Cláudio Cesar de Musacchio January 2016 (has links)
This main objective of this thesis was to investigate at primary and high schools if teaching practices can be improved by introducing social network Technologies and the production of educational content for students, through audio and video media. The research helded in an interventionist action through training of teaching practices and activities with students. These studies and the theoretical background had contributions from Hilton Japiassu and Ivani Fazenda, among other authors. Two public schools were used and attended three teachers and five classes of students. Facebook media environment was used by the “Study Group” and “Internet Research Group”, both groups using audio and video media. The schedule, methodology and analysis conducted in this research were based on measures of scales and satisfaction through valuation models and applications realized by TD & Abbad et all. The analysis were devided among teachers and students. Three importante indicators suggest revision to the policies of integration of technologies in education: a) a review of infrastructure, b) improvements in digital materials and c) a permanent training of teachers on issues of technology and interdisciplinarity. Others indicators showed improvements in communication, interaction and collaboration of students; social networking media at the classroom and audio and video media in the production of school subjects by the students themselves. The results obtained by this thesis strongly are pointing that the medias and methodologies used greatly increased the motivations of the students in the classroom. The training of interdisciplinary activities and the use of social medias were important agentes of change, enhancing interaction and collaboration in pursuit of the role of students to meaningful learning, improving aspects such metacognition and criticismo.

ABSTRACT The increasing development of educational-media practices in schools, especially aimed at producing audio, has generated several studies and research. These research are commonly about this type of activity and its effects on students learning. This dissertation aims to analyze the education through the perception of how the media and technology have a strong interface in the citizen critical formation. The deployment of web radios in the schools is one of these instruments. The dissertation examines the transition from analogic radio to digital and how this change makes the reality of communication within and outside of schools, changing languages, ways of transmission and storage processes the data. These perspectives emphasize the relationship of young viewers with different media, as active in the production of meanings, taking them as critical and creative actors. Reflects on the convergence of media and how it transforms education, opening a discussion on means and mediations, focusing on the man and his existence, recognizing that digital technology provides information with no linearity, adapting it in his favor. Ponder that the education within the web radio, turns into an open space, disrupting the entire hierarchy of knowledge within a school, implementing educational and creative ecosystems. It concludes that the deployment of web radio station in school results in collaboration, freedom and development of new teaching and citizen strategies, enabling the development of new ideas and teaching practices. The results obtained allowed the identification of own and unique contributions of young people involved in the study. This confirms the necessity of taking into account their views, wishes and aspirations of the various activities in the proposal presented to them at school as well as the development of public policies for this sector.

A centralidade da comunicação na socialização de jovens: um estudo sobre mediação escolar / The central role of the communication in the socialization of young students: a study about school mediation

Rodrigo Pelegrini Ratier 06 April 2009 (has links)
This work intends to investigate the relation of young students with the communication in the contemporaneousness. The hypothesis is that these young students, immersed in the consumption of the mass media and at the same time owners of a critical speech regarding them, find in the media an important referential system for the construction of their identities. In this context, the media shares with other institutions (family, school and religion) the function of formation of ideas, values and models of conduct, contributing to the production of arrangements of habitus in the present times. To examine the hypothesis here proposed, I conceived and administered a program of communication and education (Comunicar para Mudar o Mundo in english, To communicate to Change the World , linked to NGO Repórter Brasil), during the 2nd semester of 2007 to High School students of E.E. Ministro Costa Manso, a public school in the city of Sao Paulo. During the course, conceived as an instrument for approximation and understanding of the symbolic and cultural universe of the analyzed group, there were produced the quantitative and qualitative materials in what the presented results are based questionnaires of cultural practices, questionnaires of competences regarding the communication, diaries of class and written productions of the pupils. Also through the course it was possible to investigate the influence of the school as a mediator of the relation between the young persons and the media. About this particular subject, the hypothesis is that the school mediation contributes to form more knowing, mature, critical, active, social and creative young persons regarding the communication. I also argue that debating communication in all its levels (intrapersonal, interpersonal and massive) can help young persons establish a relation with the school based on knowledge.

Media-integrering in onderwysersopleiding

Pretorius, Beatrix Aletha 18 February 2014 (has links)
M.Ed. (Media Integration) / The curriculum cycle constitutes a simultaneously continuous and interactive teaching design for the training of primary school teachers. Educational theory, as well as educational training, should be presented within this context to ensure that a measure of practical vocational direction is achieved. This is the task of every lecturer at a college of education. The situation analysis, aim and choice of learning content form the leading introduction which culminates in the creation of the learning opportunity. The learning gain is, however, closely linked to the learning experience within the learning opportunity. A learning opportunity in which educational-media are used, can be an effective opportunity if the media are effectively integrated in the teaching situation, so that a two-directional channel of communication is created. The type of learning-experiences acquired by student teachers during learning experiences must therefore be carefully considered, so that the necessity for meaningful media-integration in the teaching and learning situation, and the important functions that this media integration can fulfil, is both witnessed and experienced. This should result in the creation of technological teaching thought processes in the student teacher. The primary school child is still very much bound to concrete ideas and the student teacher needs to be made constantly aware of this. Even the student who functions on an abstract level, has a need of concrete experiences, for example in Pedagogical Studies, to aid and support him during learning occasions. Indirect (concrete) learning experiences are created by the integration of educational media so that a person can also acquire learning experience through symbols, images, et cetera. The creation of learning opportunities is an important aspect of curriculum design. They must, however, be effective learning opportunities that must define the learning gain during evaluation.

Investigating a rural community's use of communication technology: a study of Nakaseke Community Multi-media centre in Uganda

Tumusiime, James January 2006 (has links)
An assumption that Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and economic development have an automatic linkage has gained wide acceptance over the last decade. As a result, developing countries are under pressure to apply this prescription as a solution to poverty. With the help of development partners in the developed world and the United Nations, developing countries have embraced this call to increase access to ICTs to bridge the ever-widening gap between the ‘information rich’ and ‘information poor’ (Castells, 2001). One of the strategies has been the establishment of telecentres where the least privileged people might access ICTs for their own development needs. However, this strategy has tended to overlook contextual factors and circumstances in developing countries. ICTs are thus being introduced in an environment of mass poverty, illiteracy and poor infrastructure, exacerbating existing inequalities in some cases. Much attention has been focussed on initiatives aimed at expanding the ICT infrastructure for wider population access without addressing what the users actually do with such access. This study aims to make a contribution in that direction. The study focuses on Nakaseke Community Multi-media Centre(CMC), the first telecentre introduced in Uganda in 1997. Using a combination of quantitative and qualitative research techniques, the study sets out to develop deeper insights into how the Nakaseke community uses, engages with and relates with communication technologies installed at the telecentre. It probes whether these practices advance the dominant view that ICTs are a panacea for rural development. The findings indicate that while access to communication technology has expanded, albeit at a slow pace, the benefits might take very long to have a significant effect as many targeted users do not make use of the facilities because they lack the human skills and financial resources to exploit the technologies. Other problems such as poor electricity supply and sustainability also actively militate against the potential of the project to deliver. Besides, people tend to appropriate technology in ways different from those intended by its promoters. As Burton (2002) explains through the concept of ‘affordances’ and ‘culture’, some users perceive technologies essentially as something that bestows the status of being modern or sophisticated on their community, rather than as a development tool. In conclusion, it is argued that if used for development, ICTs can indeed make a difference in the lives of rural people. However, besides investing in technology, there is need to invest more in empowering the people themselves with skills, particularly literacy, to enable them use ICTs productively.

Bezuidenhout, Wynand C. J. 14 April 2014 (has links)
M.A. (Media Studies) / One of the problems facing formal education in South Africa today is that. of coping with the educational needs of a fast developing country. An important recommendation of the De Lange Report was that educational technology should be utilised to alleviate this problem. Educational television, especially the use of video, is regarded as one of the most important technological media which can assist in this matter. A study was undertaken in the use of educational television in developing and developed countries in resolving educational problems. The role of teacher training in the successful implementation of educational television was also scrutinised. It was found that teacher training played a decisive role in the successful use of this medium. Teachers inadequately trained in the use of the medium lacked the knowledge to use it properly in the classroom. They also showed a resistance to the medium. At· present educational television in South Africa is aimed at non-formal educational needs but from 1 April 1986 the SABC will commence the broadcasting of formal educational programmes. In this study it is thus recommended that training courses in the use of educational television should be instituted at all "teacher training centres in South Africa and that all educational departments should give attention to the formal and non-formal training of in-service teachers .. Guidelines for a training course are suggested in this study. The contents of such a course would include components like television literacy, television and cognition, the analysis and evaluation of programmes, integration with the various subjects, the use and compilation of· support material and small scale television production. It is also recommended that the course should comprise lectures in theory and practical work sessions. -These practical work sessions would be regarded as the most important part of the course.

Social Media and the Provision of Library and Information Services at the University of Limpopo Library

Mogale, Mpho Gift. January 2019 (has links)
Thesis (M.Inf) --University of Limpopo, 2019. / The use of social media (SM) tools in both public and private institutions is growing remarkably. Academic libraries, in particular are confronted with serious challenges of becoming the leader in adopting various SM platforms to enhance the delivery of library and information services to their users. This study investigated the extent and ways in which librarians attached to the University of Limpopo library use SM platforms in the provision of library and information services to their patrons. The study examined types of SM tools used, purposes that SM tools are used for in academic libraries, factors that determine and impede the use of SM, as well as the attitudes of the library staff towards the use of SM in providing library and information services. The study adopted a qualitative research approach through the use of a semi-structured interview (administered face-to-face) with 10 academic librarians at the University of Limpopo (UL) as a data collection method. The findings of the study show that UL library staff largely use SM platforms such as Facebook to market and promote library services as well as Library-Blog to liaise with the schools or faculties. The study further revealed that librarians at UL are not in charge of SM applications. Instead the Marketing and Communication Department administrator is responsible for the management of SM in the university. The study notes that library personnel are aware of various SM platforms. Therefore, it has a direct influence on their use in work-related tasks. Moreover, the ease of use, low cost, high demand and usefulness of SM applications are contributory factors which motivated the librarians to want to use it. The study further reveals factors that inhibit the effective use of these applications and recommends that library management should create SM policies to boost the effective use of SM for the benefit of library patrons.

Cry the Beloved Media: New Media and Student Perceptions in a World Literature Classroom

Greenwood, Timbre Janiece Newby 08 June 2011 (has links) (PDF)
This qualitative action research project addressed the infusion of media literacy and new media into a standard secondary English language arts curriculum. In examining students' perceptions of South Africa as they interacted with new media texts in conjunction with the traditional literary text Cry, the Beloved Country, this study also explored the manner in which students' media interactions informed their reading of the novel. As a result of the research data, the author asserts that media literacy education can, in fact, play an effective role in teaching literature within the world literature classroom.
