A realization of integrated satellite-terrestrial communication networks for aeronautical services via joint radio resource management

Cheng, Yongqiang, Xu, Kai J., Pillai, Anju, Pillai, Prashant, Hu, Yim Fun, Ali, Muhammad, Ahmed, Adeel January 2013 (has links)
Despite air travel has not grown as predicted, air travel is still expected to rise to just less than doubling the current figure by 2030. This creates an urging need to develop more efficient Air Traffic Management (ATM) solutions. Around the globe, research and development initiatives have been launched to modernize the air traffic control infrastructures. These modernized infrastructures will be built around continuous information gathering, sharing and transferring of data between aircraft and air navigation service providers and airports ground infrastructure, which will be difficult for current aeronautical communications systems to handle. As a result, new communication infrastructures are required to manage future aeronautical communication traffic demand. This paper proposes an integrated aeronautical communication architecture consisting of four radio access technologies for communications between aircrafts and ground Aeronautical Telecommunication Network (ATN). The design and implementation of a Joint Radio Resource Management (JRRM) framework to manage these radio resources are discussed. The design is verified by a proof-of-concept JRRM prototype which is developed for the management of radio resource between the Inmarsat Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) and the Aeronautical Mobile Airport Communication System (AeroMACS).

Standardized flexibility - Modular prefabricated concrete-panel housing in Årstafältet 6

Chen, Yingnan January 2023 (has links)
Concrete panel system is a common way of developing housing. From the beginning of its history, it was a good solution for a pressing need for efficient, affordable, and mass-produced housing to accommodate the growing population and address the shortage of dwellings. However, some of them also faced typical problems of limited flexibility and a lack of architectural diversity and uniqueness within the housing development. Today’s more and more housing projects try to develop a diversified apartment types within, to meet different housing needs allowing for a more inclusive and accessible housing market. My project try to fulfill the need of diversified apartment type on a residential area and based on mature developed concrete panel construction systems that have many advantages, with co-living and private living mode coexisting. In order to make this project more practical, the idea is firstly try to systematically develop different apartments by repetitive units and prefabricated components, using as less as them, then try to applied this to a real site with practical limitations and real needs.

The Modulo: Bridging Community and Individuality in Multi-Family Housing

Ilgen, Tugba 13 September 2023 (has links)
Modular construction, a method where building components are prefabricated off-site and then transported as completed modules, is generally employed to save time and cost in the building industry. Despite its default as a repetitive component, it holds potential to address both individuality and community engagement within multi-story housing. This thesis investigates modular design as a possibilty to develop better quality affordable housing in densely populated urban areas. The modular components are positioned with respect to privacy, individuality , and an encouragement of community interaction. By using precast components and CLT modules in this arrangement, this thesis aims to create private spaces that cater to residents' individual preferences and requirements while simultaneously establishing communal areas that facilitate social interaction and a sense of community. / Master of Architecture / Modular construction, a method where building components are prefabricated off-site and then transported as completed modules, is generally employed to save time and cost in the building industry. Congruences for Coefficients of Modular Functions in Levels 3, 5, and 7 with Poles at 0

Keck, Ryan Austin 01 March 2020 (has links)
We give congruences modulo powers of p in {3, 5, 7} for the Fourier coefficients of certain modular functions in level p with poles only at 0, answering a question posed by Andersen and Jenkins and continuing work done by the Jenkins, the author, and Moss. The congruences involve a modulus that depends on the base p expansion of the modular form's order of vanishing at infinity.
